Make medium/heavys slower - or lights faster

I had the feeling that, as I progress upwards, light hulls become comparatively weaker, so I make some calculations about it. I took a sample of hulls and turrets and I found out that Railgun, Thunder, and Smoky need the exact same amount of shots (on average) to destroy an hull at modifications M0, M2, and M3+ (e.g. Smoky needs 6 shots to destroy viking, provided that they both are at the same modification level and no protection is involved). In addition, Isida needs the same amount of time to destroy them.

 

I find it reasonable to assume that the developing team is somewhat intelligent and that that is an intentional design. Therefore, I assume that it is safe to extrapolate the same pattern to other hulls and turrets at all modifications.

 

What I also found is that light hulls become comparatively slower. At M0, Hornet is 21% faster than Viking and 47% faster than Titan. But at M2 and M3+, Hornet is only 17% and 43% faster respectively. That means that whereas the resistance of light hulls remains comparatively the same, their speed decreases.

 

It may not be much. A 4% might not be much difference, but if we add it to the chasm in stability that widens as the modifications go up, that makes light hulls less effective at high modifications that low modifications.

 

To solve that, I propose to reduce the speed of medium and heavy hulls so that the relative difference between them an light hulls remains constant at all modification levels.

Perfectly right.

Make heavies slower - or- light hulls faster.

 

 

The higher you rank, the less useful light hulls become.

You have to take into account, that high ranked players do not miss much of their shots, which makes makes light hulls easy kills, instead of hard targets (in terms of they can dodge.. or better said: they can't any more).

 

Would you also accept to speed up light hulls and give them more maneuverability in higher ranks?

Please dont slow down the medium or heavy hulls.

On large maps, its a burden on my arrow keys to get to the control points or enemy base for flag, and I use viking m2, fastest medium hull.

 

Light hulls should be made faster, but then it will be hard for ricochet to hit them, or twins or striker.

 

 

Anyways, I agree that very few people use light hulls in non-pro battles in high ranks.

They need a buff, especially wasp.

 

Better armour, speed and stability would be nice.

Didnt readed topic.

Tittle says everything i needed and YES! I totaly agree. Viking/hunter m3 is faster than wasp m3 if using SpeedBoost which makes no sense. Dictator is the same speed as wasp.

An M1 Thunder with Double Damage does more damage than an M4 Thunder.  Does that sound reasonable?

It's not the equipment - it's the supplies.

 

If a change must be made, the light hulls should be sped up.  It would take a mammoth forever to move across a medium map if it was slowed down.

Light hulls should be accordingly faster.

 

Then all tanks should feel heavier on the ground, they shouldn't be jumping like they are make of plastic and have wings, nor turning easily when hit by Smokys and Ricos as if they are wet bars of soaps in a wet bath tub.

 

Finally there should be free alterations that remove protection plates (weight) for Parkouring.

They don't feel like tanks. AT. ALL.

light hulls should be around 50% faster than medium hulls and medium hulls should be 50% faster than heavy hulls so mediums cant be faster than light hulls even with speed boost.

That sounds reasonable as well. As long as the speed up does not involve loss of manoeuvrability, I'm alright with it.

 

 

Remember the Global update of game balance for Tanki Online?

Well, at the time I had Mammoth and I hated that update (that part of it). I didn't choose Mammoth for the speed but for HP. They rather made Mammoth lighter and weaker.

 
Now you suggest relatively opposite.

 

I understand what you say, but I don't think it is quite the same. What I am suggesting is that the relative speed difference between light, medium, and heavy hulls remain the same, just as the relative protection difference remains the same.

I agree! As for other equipment, also need to be "balanced" out a bit, for example, an M0 or M1 Railgun can destroy an M2, M1 or M0 Hornet in 2 shots! I don't exactly know if this is right, or whatever  

I'm too to figure it all out, if it all does even connects.

 Anyhow, I certainly agree that some equipment do not become "useful" (or expected to become MORE useful) up to M2. I hope you actually get what I mean. :3

A while ago, all heavy hulls became faster at low ranks. As a result, light hulls now gain more speed after being upgraded, compared to heavies. For example, Mammoth goes from 5m/s at Mk1 up to 6 at Mk7+. This is a 20% increase. Meanwhile Wasp goes from 9 to 12, which is a 33% increase.
