The easiest way to find a spectator and to ask them for help is through the form (hire a spectator). Many players, especially the newer users of the forum, do not notice a difference between the various avatars on the forum, and if they do, they hardly know what each one represents.

The purpose of avatars is so players can easily see who's a representative of the game, who they can turn to for help about anything in the game.

There's no added benefit for a spectator to having an avatar. Perhaps in the long run, if there's a well organized spectator group that is there for the whole community, it might be an idea. Currently, I don't see why they should have one.

Feel free to discuss and prove me wrong though!

Hahaha... Why avatar for them? They mostly inactive in forum and their duties, moreover "Hire a Spectator" Lol! on it never respond I filled 8 times,

Even when i personally contact many spectator all simply refused to come, they mostly inactive, not helping, wasting the opportunity of being a sectator, doesn't mind but i'm very disappointed from them!

I can't show aor announce their name but i contacted 6-7 spectator, but he replies they send to me uffff...

Some of them not replied just read msg not reply.

So why they have gifted by avatars? for this attitude!

Doesn't Mind, Its Truth!

. We need to get people to learn what avatar is what <_<

I agree . too many avatars will spoil the pot . educate players on who is and what they stand for ( surprise a news topic for the paper to write lol,,). if we have another one for non staff members it would not be fair for others  , soon everyone will want one just cause of this or that . it will get over whelming for no good reason . lets just keep it as  it . there is no reason to change or add new ones unless its for good reason

I guess they would need to be assigned to a special group in the forum, in order to make this work. Some more work for the forum Admin.. but technically it should be possible easily. So let's open the discussion and let's see what the players think about it ;)

edit:  "Hire a spectator" service

You just said the same thing with different words dude.

Spectators are not "official helpers" of the community. They got the Spectator because they make videos in their time in the first place. And what's more? Most of the Tanki videos I have seen are filled with hacks, cheats, scams and profane language. Making a video takes two-three days max? While we "entertainment guys" pump out the latest guides to the most newest of updates, writing everything, every detail to make sure nothing its left. There's pictures, GIFs, videos and all other Newspaper-related items working together to create one article; and there are about eleven to twelve a month.

I beg to differ. It's true we post a lot of articles for the sole purpose of entertainment, but the majority of articles are guides, reviews and recent news in the community. In other words, we focus on guiding players in various spheres of Tanki environment, provide tips and tricks and inform and clarify stuff that recently happened in the game. Humor and entertainment is something we like to inject in our issues.

OK, I mean no disrespect to the newspaper team, and I mistakenly thought that spectators serve the same purpose in the community as Reporters, which clearly appears to be not the case here. I wasn't aware that videomakers aren't official helpers and that they get spectator mode for fun, without a requirement to use it for the benefit of the community. With that in mind, the idea is now declined.

However, I must point out a couple things:

  • Swearing isn't against YouTube's rules, so even though it's unethical to use such language when you have a lot of children in the audience, it's still allowed and Tanki staff (devs) don't have to boycott youtubers, who swear in their videos.
  • Hacking and scams are definitely against the rules and I'm pretty sure that developers check a player's channel thoroughly before giving them any rewards to make sure they aren't rewarding a violator who harms their game.
  • You have to admit that youtubers have a lot more influence than the newspaper. Your articles get around 700-1500 views on average, while the videos on biggest tanki channels often get over 50k. So when it comes to useful information and guides, it would be a lot more effective for a youtuber to give the information via video, rather than for reporters to do it via an article.
But as I said above, all that can't be taken into account until videomakers become an official helper category, with requirements to produce similar useful content as the newspaper, to the same kind of standard. If that ever happens, then we can consider the idea of issuing avatars to these players.

Declined.

WOW ..how many is this now that i fully agree with you , I must be sick lol .. if they changed this then yea i'm fine with it but for now there is only a few of them that do this kind of work  . but in general i can see this changing soon due to the fact they do put out education to the players / public. but  when i did post at first i was not aware of really what they did besides players video's , so if they do change it in time lets see something worthy of it and not just avatar but something that can stand out . also would like to see the press one be changed at the same time something with a newspaper or something way better to advertise there group , also really lets not just stop there lets over hall all of them ..i'm not impressed with them ..there getting boring to look at over these years lol

If it does not work, then you could place a complaint (and maybe a prposal if you have one) in cedrics virtual office thread. He own's the "rent a spec" thread, so maybe he also feels reponsible to make it work

See? This is one of the major reasons why my inbox gets flooded with random questions regarding events, chat bans and tournaments. I'm online at least 16/7 on the Forum right now, and the people just see my name and send me messages. We need to get people to learn what avatar is what <_<

While I agree it isn't categorically correct, I never minded it much, but that just might be me. I usually deal with the problem myself if possible, or I add a mod to the PM to assist.

Can you provide an example please

Like how the avatar for V-Log translators would be

Classic avatar with helmet with Google's logo on it.

"Videomakers" are not an official helper group. They have no duties and responsibilities, while their spectator mode is given to them for fun and personal use, rather than a tool that they should use for the benefit of the community. They don't officially help the game and therefore don't get an avatar.

You are absolutely wrong.

We spectators work on Hire a Spectator everyday & requests are coming in abundance.

That's not the feedback we got from most players who actually tried to use that service.

Making things look worse then they actually are will not help improve it. Yes we haven't been able to take all requests but most of those examples (your requests) have been declined since they didn't follow the rules. Things will probably change soon.

Ok i will wait!

Best of luck Sir

Of what ever quality your services may be - giving spectators an avatar will not change the situation.

On the other hand it will lead to a lot of misunderstandings. Therefore it's declined.
