Tanki Online mobile version

Of course it's undeniably worse than playing on PC, because let's face it - how could controls using two fingers ever be better than a whole keyboard (and mouse)? But it's definitely playable for situations when you don't have your PC with you (on a trip), or you don't have access to a PC at all and want to play. But I agree that it needs different controls and a unique feature that will put mobile players on a similar level as PC players. One thing I personally suggested is more advanced autoaim, so when you press a button, your turret automatically turns and points at the nearest enemy, but you still have to manually press fire, activate supplies and control the actual tank.

They should just separate mobile users from PC users.

What?   So... striker would never miss with single-shots?

Not quite. Turrets that shoot instantly (Smoky, Thunder, etc) would never miss, but Striker, Twins and Rico could, if the enemy is moving. The game would point your turret towards the enemy, but not account for their movement (so no leading shots).

I think that if someone can't spend a day without playing Tanki, he has a problem.

I never said every day. Imagine you're visiting your grandparents for 3 months during summer and you can't bring your desktop PC with you. The mobile version would be perfect in that situation.

Who don't have a pc these day seriously

Children? I don't know, but I feel like a lot of kids below 14 (a large part of Tanki's audience) don't have their own PCs and only have phones. Besides, there are many potential situations where you might not have access to your PC, even if you own one.

We are getting off topic of what you said. You said going to your grandparent's house, so I was talking about "grandparents".

Now, about 14 years old that don't have their own pc, everyone discovered this game via pc, even if you have a phone, you will still play it on pc. There are like an exteme low probability that you would ever need to play this game on a phone.

wow sir you must still live in the olden days. cause now a days more children do have PC's to run games on . my son when he was 8 got his first computer and he is now 24 . so you need to keep up with the times . students don't use phones to play games as most people  would think. they seldom play on them due to the higher cost  on them  from there server provider . see the more time you spend on them in some parts of the world were charged for going over and above our time packages. it cost too much now a days for students with the cost of school supply's and books . sure most parents pay but even then parents have limited usages locked on there child's phones. or there on parent's  blocked on certain web sites or apps not to be used during day time or all the time. in schools they have fire walls to stop games to be played in schools .

I've been playing the mobile version for 2 weeks now and this is my observation. Most of the complaints are valid. The main thing holding the mobile game back is the directional controls however..

The sad thing is that it could be so much better and simpler from a players viewpoint. The quickest fix to making the mobile version funner and easier to play is to completely redo the driving interface. Sadly the Devs have tried to emulate the keyboard arrows with basically a 4 position control pad. Up is forward, down is back, and of course left and right. this orientation stays the same regardless of tank orientation. Which causes great confusion while playing. Especially in crowded environments. This setup rarely works in a basically simulated 3d environment. The best controller set up is one where the direction of travel is based on the orientation of the tank on screen. Whichever direction the tank is facing is the forward direction on the controller. For example if the tank is facing the top of the screen then up is forward. If the tank is facing the left side of the screen then left is forward. Whichever point on a compass it faces is the forward direction on the controller. To try and make it even more understandable, try to imagine the tank  completely encircled by a ring and you control a light that moves around the ring. Wherever that light is on the ring that is the direction that the tank will go. Of course 180 degrees from the forward direction is reverse.  This will make for a more intuitive directional interface that is easier to learn and causes less confusion when driving and shooting at the same time or maneuvering in a crowded environment.

I have to disagree with the full auto aim suggestion, but I do think that the auto aim box currently used needs to be enlarged on the mobile version to compensate for the smaller screen.

Lastly they need to get rid of the circular selector for supplies and enlarge the supply buttons at the bottom of the screen. This would greatly simplify the use of supplies and other functions.

I gave some examples already, but I'll make a list to reiterate:

  • Some people may not have a PC and found out about Tanki when they came across it on youtube or their favourite youtuber did an overview of the game. They don't have PC, but they will be happy to try the game using the mobile version.
  • Sometimes PC is not available. Mine was broken for 3 months this summer and I had to use my phone to complete missions before I got my PC fixed.
  • If you have a desktop PC or simply don't want to carry your laptop on a trip, but still want to complete missions/play, you can do so on your phone.
  • Some children are too young to get their own PC, so perhaps they were using their parents' or friend's device to play. With the mobile version they can do it on their phone.

I'm 22 years old, so I'm pretty sure I can relate to the current times. Not all families are the same, and some are too poor to get individual devices for their children (but phones are cheaper), while others intentionally refrain from buying a PC for their child to avoid them getting distracted and not focusing on school work. You don't really need a PC to study until around 10th grade (15-16 years), so I'm sure a lot of children don't have a PC or laptop, but obviously almost everyone has a phone.

I don't understand why playing on a phone would be more expensive. If you are using wi-fi, it's the same as with a computer. Even if you use your data, gaming actually takes very little resources to play (once you download the app with all its textures and graphics), so I don't think it would be expensive. I mean, I think I recall playing for 5 hours one day and only used about 20mb of data.

I doubt that a lot of parents block mobile games, but there's no reason to consider those cases, since if a parent does something like that, then it doesn't matter if the child has a phone or PC - Tanki will be inaccessible either way.

well in Canada its not like that . we have to pay for the phone usage along with WiFi its separate billing systems. in Canada it might be different to where you live.. cause I know most people who can't afford it find ways to get things such as ask for things from service clubs or donations from the government/,

parents still block things on computers or even phones . its not hard to do . you just have to contact the phone company and tell them what to block and they do it.  Here in Canada the education system is so different we are not using books like in the past when you were in school . we are now using computers and even white boards more . most schools provide computers in the class rooms . they starting them as early as grade 1 . my youngest son just finished grade school just over a year ago he is now in grade 10 and has not stopped using his computers .

so it really depends on location on how schooling is done. by the way i'm 56 years of age and have 2 adults children ( ages 24 and 22 ) also  1 teenage child.age 16 ..

Who does that in 2018

Me .__.

Although my case is somewhat different since I live/study abroad and my grandparents are in Russia, so it's nice to go see them for a few months a year because they miss me. Also they need help in their countryside cottage where they go during summer months. Also also, living in Dubai during summer is hell, so it's nice to go into the much more pleasant Russian climate.

I do bring my laptop most of the time though.

Actually no. The servers are located in the Netherlands, so in Russia I was getting 60-80 ping even with good internet. I live in the UK now and I get around 12 ping on average.

Hi, I just started playing TO Mobile, and I don't really like the controls. Can there be more options, like arrows/buttons instead of the joystick? And I think it would be WAY more interesting to play if there were Pro Battles available.  Also,  can you add some kind of daily reward, like 100 crystals, 3-10 of each supplies, and maybe even a gold box at the very end? That will encourage more people to play TO on Mobile, better for players, better for you.  :)  Thanks in advance.
