Rank Brackets still need to be lessened

Even the Tanki reporters report that the brackets are too large:

[special Review] Updates: Patches #453 and #455

In this patch, the default rank brackets for Legends and Generalissimos () were reduced. This means that Legends can only play Captains in PRO Battles, and will have to settle for Field Marshals () as the lowest rank in regular ones. Generalissimos, on the other hand, still have a large rank bracket, going down as far as Brigadier ().

This is not true.  Generalissamos still go down to Captain (rank 19).  I know because they are still slaughtering me with their M4 stuff against my newbie M2 and even M1 equipment.  It isn't fair and they shouldn't be able to dip so far down into the lower ranks, but the last update did not completely fix the issue...it only got rid of the Legends.  So now I only have to battle with players 11 ranks above me and still M4 vs M2.  As a Captain (rank 19)

A Generalissamo (30) playing against me (19) is like me (19) playing against a Master Sergeant (8)...M4 vs M2 and M2 vs M0 respectively.  Slaughter no skill.  Not fair in any universe.

As you have reported, is as it should be, but sadly it is not...

Hopefully Tanki will change the rank brackets to what you have reported...maybe you are clarivoiant and have predicted the FUTURE!

Then you find out that after the Rebalance in 2012 and for a long time after the default rank bracket was from Generalissimo to Warrant Officer 5.

But I agree, the rank brackets should be decreased in gap size, at least for non-pro battles.

There should be lots of battles available around your rank or lower? From what I've seen there are more active players at lower ranks which is probably why the brackets were increased even though it's not balanced.

You can also suggest this or other ways to improve the rank brackets in the Ideas and Suggestion section if you want to or if you come up with other good ideas, just make sure you read what is allowed to suggest and what is not in there.

On a side note, I do agree with you on this one. In my low account, I have M1 and play against M2s or even players who have MU their M2s. Not an easy battle of course.

Even the Tanki reporters report that the brackets are too large:

They never said that the brackets are too large. They simply said that they are large.

Also, it doesn't make any difference whether the person saying something is a normal player, reporter, moderator or any kind of helper. Reporters are still players and what they say is still mostly their own opinion.

So... what is the reason for large rank brackets?

To make battles fill up faster since a larger amount of players will be able to join a battle if it has a large rank gap. And their logic for being able to increase it is that "the gap between equipment modifications has been reduced", although I think that's nonsense because M1 is still nothing compared to M3 and even M2.

I concur with your evaluation on that end.

If ANYBODY thought of this, the large brackets can be a huge and I mean HUGE advantage!

Get yourself mammoth and twins on the winning team on a no time limit ctf on Noise and you're set! The higher ranked a player is, the more is added to the fund when they are destroyed. Tough it out in defense or midfield if on red team, get shared kills, you'll get points. Slow but you'll get a lot more crystals that you'd think. Say I get 500 exp in a battle I might end up getting 800 as a STANDARD reward, which is probably more than the double crystals I get with beginner's pass.

I very much approve of the large brackets and hope that they'll change it so warrant officers can make battles to play with lt colonels just as they can make a battle to play with us. Yeah it's hard but it put LOTS of bread on the table

The problem is when low rankers join the winning team, then winning team begins losing.

So it is best to look for battles with similar ranks as yours.

They're staff aswell, In my time as consultant we were told that the staff are the face of the community and represent the developers. I'm pretty sure you guys are being told the same stuff because it makes perfect sense. You need to show professionalism and be reliable. If you give your opinion on something; especially on developer's choices, it makes quite the impact. I think it's very important that the staff give their opinion about developers actions though, there needs to be charisma aswell.

I don't disagree with the reporters, rank brackets are (too) large. Not to pick on the lower ranked players but a Captain is no match in a drug war full of Generallisimo's and Legends. You should've seen the rank brackets in 2012 though. As a Sergeant Major, I found myself between Marshals full on drugs with their M3's.

This is true, especially considering that the reporter said it in an actual article about the update itself. But that doesn't change the fact that they never said that the rank limits were "too" large.

Because most new low rankers, unlike skilled players who make alts know what they're doing. I tend to pick on players with hornet or wasp in space mode games because I have Viking and Smoky M1 on this alt of mine. Viking being a stable medium hull, is still really hard to flip even in space mode. I mean I took a full on hit from a Striker and my tank was half in the air from a sudden move in the opposite direction. I still didn't flip over.

Also, Smoky having decent Impact and players most of the time firing with their turrets turned to the side, I use my Smoky's impact and their recoil to make them look like ballerinas.

Well, what if I come in, you will get flipped, because I have m2 twins with stable plasma alteration

I joined when Tanki was 2 years old. Back then, the blue crystal boxes dropped like rain, but were only worth 10 crystals. I don't remember what rank I was, but it wasn't very high, at the time. I had read in lobby chat that the Gismo battles dropped more crystal boxes. So, I checked it out. Instead of single boxes dropping, they would drop 5 at a time and hardly anyone was collecting them, except me. I got killed a lot, but I got rich quick. The Gismo's were complaining that lower rankers were ruining their battles because the higher rankers couldn't get in.

I'd hide in the shadows, behind a building, etc. and wait for the drop, then I'd wait to see if anyone collected them. If not, then I'd run out and grab the pile then go back into hiding, provided I survived. I don't know why the Gismo's were complaining. They should have been thanking us for keeping their battle field clean and uncluttered. :D

That is called multing isn't it. Unfortunately I wasn't around when the crystals were dropping in the game but I personally prefer this way, now everyone just focus on playing instead of going around and collecting crystals while someone else is stealing a flag in front of you and you don't even care, that is how it was. Well, nowdays you still see players not focusing welly on the battlefield but it is less compared to how it was. I don't like this rank idea, Legends playing with low ranks can be fun since you get more kills and your chance of winning is quite higher than playing against other Legends but if you look at it from a low ranker's perspective view than... it is not a good thing.

I used to do the same thing occasionally :D
