Removal of Silence from normal battles

Rail or Shaft are turrets with direct fire, like 8 other turrets are as well. The maps are designed for turrets with direct fire and for shortrangers.

Magnun on the other hand is the first turret with indirect fire capabilities.. when it was introcuded a player wrote "you do not realize it. This is not just another turret, this is a game changer". Well given the existance of this thread here, he was right.

So the situation is not compareable to your example.

 

Besides, maps have been changed.

Serpuchov is an example for that. It offered the possibility to move on the upper surrounding hills; snipers loved that spots. Especially the one on the left side, if you look from blue base to red base. There was always a sniper in those bushes there :)

Also the other side of the map had a route on the surrounding hills, that allowed to sneak in closer to green(?) house in the blue base.

Yes, Shaft is a turret with direct fire. But just like Magnum, it as a unique feature. The sniping mode.

But unlike magnum, shaft cannot shoot from behind a wall, or deal massive splash damage.

Update: This topic can be closed by curators, since Silence is soon going to be updated. The Red base is now all fine. I don't think there is any reason for the devs to remove this map :)

If you are put in the map, go out if you have any disliked features there.

Each map has its own tactics, even if team os weaker than enemies, it can easily win.

 

Lets take noise again - Blue team is weaker. Lets say 7:4 flags, they let red team in their base, one or two persons run to red base, while rest of the team fight enemies off, the flag gets taken and you need only like 7-10 sec to cap. Nothing big, but just the right timing and teamwork. Sorry but seems like you havent mastered this map yet

Any team has possibility to win from any side on any map.

 

However, maps like Noise and Silence give an undeniable handicap to one side. The physics of being on higher ground apply even to an arcade game like Tanki.

 

If you are relying on tricks or heavily unbalanced teams to just compete, then the map needs tweaking.

 

"mastering" a map has nothing to do with it. Even if each team has "mastery" in noise, the Red team still has an advantage. being able to jump down to middle level gives red a better chance at controlling that area. Blue is hampered by the need to climb up ramps which quickly become kill-zones.

I agree. I always found Silence to be an unbalanced and boring map, although I'm afraid that a lot of players love it so removing it will result in a very negative reaction. I'll still forward this to developers though and leave it to them to decide.

It's not boring , it's the best map so If you removed it , many players will leave and I also maybe leave.

They can't redesign all maps with higher floors and obstacles, that will take forever, they need to nerf and change Magnum.

 

My proposal:

 

- Z,X and C to turn turret.

- Half the damages and splash radius

- Half the reload time

- One single speed for projectiles

- A tap of Spacebar will shoot at 0 degrees angle

- If you hold the Spacebar you can adjust the angle

I think silence should be removed from non-pro battle list, mainly because of magnum and how projectiles can eaisly kill someone lower while a mangum from red would need to charge a shot longer, i've seen half a dozen camping and with zero supplies currently it is very difficult for the red team to win in a TDM/CP.

we're talking about removing it from the non pro list like how noise was, Noise was more popular as a map and people are still playing.

Silence is a beautiful map. It maybe unbalanced in-terms of gameplay, but it is often used to hold photoshoots, stg etc. Thus removing it totally from the map can fetch angry mobs ready to lynch Mr.Hazel. It makes sense to remove it only from the list of non-pro battles, made by clicking the battle button.

 

Changing the map might not be liked by some people. But, as developers plan on doing with a couple of other maps, the current version can be kept along with the new one.

I definitely agree that the map is unbalanced in team battles, but I do enjoy DM battles in the map.

lol here I see only noobs talking, I play 8v8 10v10 in noise and silence and both are fine, I've won both sides, and against the best players.  If you don't like it, don't play it.

Yes, Silence and Noise are starting to get more and more unfair, after the Magnum turret was removed. My friend used to love to play on the Blue team in Noise, but now, because of all of the Magnums, it is unfair, and hard to play in Noise. I don't think he plays in Noise anymore. And I usually don't either. 

 

Same thing with Silence. I agree with BRO. However, deleting these maps wouldn't get a good reaction from the tanki community. It should be possible to have Silence and Noise playable in the Parkour mode.

Ever since I joined this game and I find silence an unfair map. I don't know why it was popular back in 2012. Same with noise. It is completely unbalanced and still players loved it so much. I say we make changes to these maps to make it balanced instead of removing them and narrowing the choice of maps in non-pro battles.

The worst idea I have ever heard in my life. Silence does not have to be reworked again, also it is balanced because there are camping spots on the red team where you can hit the magnums on the blue team. It is a balanced map whereas maps such as Noise are not balanced as it is mainly one sided. You just have to be more tactical about your gameplay and not get into the firing zone of magnums. Also if you think it is an unfair map do not play in it.

Though for Silence, the Red team can also annoy the Blue team with Magnum.

Thunder always could, camping right next to the big sign and getting a broad glance at the Blue base. I still do it sometimes.  :lol:

The best part is that they can never tell where I'm shooting from and even when they realise, it doesn't matter because they can't hit nor kill me with my pet Isida constantly kissing me.

You are right but just imagine. You are in red team and you got 5 magnums in blue and they are all firing down with double damage. I mean, you can't even move in the open. How can you bring a flag or even try to capture a point huh? Whenever you get out of a tunnel, you are a prey or should I say one of the preys of magnums. 


Anyway, this idea is lame after matchmaking system is implemented and as Devs said in one v log, Silence will be widened. And that widened place makes gameplay more fairer. So, yea, This idea shouldn't be useful anymore.

For your information, Noise is already removed from Normal battles. ;)

WHAT? I don't have pro battle pass and I was playing on noise the other day.

Since Silence has been redesigned to put Red team in a better position, I think it's safe to say that this idea is no longer applicable.
