What to buy? Which is better?

Should I try to M4 Viking and Twins by X mas (unlikely) or buy Thunder m3 with M4 Viking?

Would you like to do a massacre or want to have fun...?

Even if I only have Twins at M2 (10/10) and Viking on 5/20, I think this combination is one of the strongest in TO. Especially if you have the "Stable Plasma" alteration as well...

The Twins was good, but with the update of splash damage, this goes to wrost. So with the al teration is good, but I think thunder-viing is a strong combo at DM

not really; it still wrecks enemies. I've gone toe-to-toe with slighly laggy/less skilled legends and won. (they had M4s)

I don't play DM, mostly in Island and Polygon, hence why I ask.

I like either option, but I don't think I can m4 my twins, Viking though is quite possible. I think I should try to m4 both, so that at least I get a single m4 with a close to m4 m3

I have a question for you high rankers. Thunder protection is high and it should be obvious that thunder is weak there. My question is, why do people use thunder protection? Most thunders are weak so the popularity should have died down which renders thunder protection useless, or do people use thunder despite the protection?!?

the whole "there are a lot of people using thunder protections at high ranks" is nothing but a myth

Exactly, I have a lot of experience in Tanki, and Thunder as been keeping the same or almost the same amount of "Power" since his creation. So people that says that it's weak, well, they just don't like it, or just don't know how to use it perfectly!

Thunder isn't weak. it is one of the best turrets and in DM, M3 Thunder is better than Railgun M4.

Shaft M1 or Isida M1? I'm pretty much a versatile player of defense and offence. but I'm looking at isida m1 due to its higher XP and crystal output

Yeah Isida is better.

It gets annoying.

For example, if there are flys in a room, you put insect repellent, not because it hurts/kills you, but because its plain simple annoying.

For Master Sergeant Alt account...

Currently using Hunter m0.5 and Smky m0.3

Will keep upgrading Hunter to get m1

Plan on getting Thunder m1 @ WO4.

In meantime need better weapon.

Looking at Isida m1, Frz m1, hamr-m1, or could continue upgrading smky.

Also would like Hornet m1 for speedier play at times.

So...

Bulldog kit seems nice but - paint and module makes it expensive so likely not afford.

If I can get on a sale day how are Freeze m1 or Hammer m1?

Any kits have Hornet+Freeze?

Is it really a myth? I need more confirmation fromy regulars like Musa, Darkness, Killerassassin

Its not a myth, but its map-dependent. Its also game dependent. In maps where thunder is strong, people wear thunder protection, thats how it is.

Heres the catch: In maps where thunder is strong, rico and smoky are also strong, especially rico with MFS. Even though these 3 medium range turrets are all strong in favourable maps, you will always find more thunder protection than rico or smoky protection. This is why the "everyone has thunder protection" idea evolved.

Go into kungur, or deathtrack, and you will find on average 60% of the players with thunder protection. Go into a smaller maps and of course there will be less.
This is because when you are unprotected, thunder is one of the most powerful turrets in this game.

However, the sheer amount of people with prortections almost balances this out. Thunders can still dominate with drugs, but if the enemies are drugging too, its an even playing field.

Glad to see that you consider me a regular :P

Thunder isn't weak. it is one of the best turrets and in DM, M3 Thunder is better than Railgun M4

I would have to vastly disagree. Railgun m4 + DD in DM is basically a free kill on every reload as long as you pick your targets well (target low protections as well as light hulls).
If you use the peek and shoot while mining your campsite playstyle, railgun is almost unstoppable.
I will agree that thunder is very strong, hence why lots of people use protection against it, but it definetely isnt better than m4 rail in a DM. Edited by D.A.R.K.N.E.S.S

Can someone please help me?

Thunder m3 with Viking m4 for x mas, or Twins 3.5 with Viking m4 (3.5 as in 10/20 upgrades.)

IMO, Twins is better.

some maps more people use thunder protection some maps less people do, but it never gets too bad.

for legend battles at highways nearly everyone has almost 50% shaft protection, i remember seeing a few screenshots from my friend where all 12 members on the enemy team had 50%.

for thunder no matter what map at the very most you only have around half the enemy team with thunder, half of those won't even be 50% because most of them are from legacy modules like africa where thunder doesnt get 50%. and sometimes if you're lucky there might only be 1 or no one at all with thunder protection. if you join a battle after tge magnums and hammers on your team have already tore through the enemy team then you can be sure only a few of them are using thunder protection, because there is no module that protects against thunder and magnum, and only africa protects against thunder and hammer... but it only gives 38% against both.

so what does that mean?

Keep in mind that Africa costs nearly 1m to max out whilst Hammer gets up to 30 only.

Personally i have 5 MU steps on it and not willing to press upgrade again xD

yep, 38 is for twins and thunder, i keep forgeting. but yeah, not a lot of people have africa, it isn't that good and it costs too much to MU so in the last scenarioi gave even africa giving 38% protection from thunder is something very rare.

Prices of MUs were way cheaper back in the day before the separation update, hence many players have Clay and Africa fully Mu'ed.

But also lets not forget that M3 modules are pretty much easier to acquire now thanks to the frequent sales.

For instance, it costs around 180-190k to buy a module and put 5 MU steps on it during a 50% sale thus more players have protections around 40.
