What to buy? Which is better?

Huh, it's interesting how tanki opened the test server server 2, and there aren't any players on it. Probably due to the test server invite code though. I wanted to try Smoky on Hornet, I've only tried it on Wasp and Mammoth.

Ok, I have Hornet M2 ATM, so my best choice is now to get Smoky M2 and save up for a decent paint. So which paint would you suggest? I will use Smoky M2 + Hornet M2, and I use Tundra/Jaguar right now. I was thinking maybe Rustle, Winter, Digital, or Savannah.

Btw, thanks alot for actually bothering to give reasons, most people around here tend to just say (Turret of choice) M2, without saying any reasons. I appreciate your help and time! :D :D

Without a doubt, you should forget about Winter paint.

 

Savanna > digital~rustle.

 

Savanna would be the best, the rail protection it has is very nice, and as a smoky user, you would have the advantage of other smokies, which is always a nice thing. Also, its not good to accumulate multiple low rank paints, and you already have Tundra at the moment. If I were you, I'd use Tundra until you can get Savanna. Digital is not a considerable amount better than Tundra for it to be worth the price tag, unless theres an extremely good sale, something like 50-70% off digital. Rustle is very nice, I have Zeus and I actually found the need to use Rustle today. Rustle is better for small-medium maps for CTF, you can always find a freeze and thunder user in nearly every single match. I prefer using Rustle on a heavier hull though.

 

My advice would be to use Tundra for now, rank as much as possible, and when the next paint sale comes, 25-50% sale, depending on your rank at that time (hopefully you'll have unlocked Savanna by that time if you play a whole lot and have the score multiplier. Rustle + Hornet means you get 1 shot killed by M3 railgunners, and this is bad because they are everywhere now with the new cheap light m3 kit. Not only do these light m3 kit users have M3 railgun to 1 shot kill you if you're wearing rustle, but they will have 48% smoky protection against your Smoky M2... so they will be a horrific nightmare for you to come across.

 

I think Tundra -> Savanna/Emerald is your best option.

 

You're very welcome. :) I fully agree that its sad how many here don't take the time to give strong support for their opinions... it doesn't help very much, just fills up the thread with meaningless posts. I feel like there should be a requirement for giving advice here, that you actually give your answer serious thought as if the advice you give is for yourself / own purchases.

Viking is a bit more versatile if you want to get a bit more action, and will work better in large maps. Viking will work well with either short or long range paints.

 

Titan will work considerably better for drugging or for small maps. Titan will most likely do better with at least some close range protection. You'll catch a few more golds with Titan and play defensive roles better. I'd only ever use Mammoth for DM as the only thing its got going for it is its high HP. This doesnt even really apply until M3. At M2, Titan is superior to Mammoth without question.

 

If you already have a medium hull such as Dictator or Hunter, it would be useless to purchase Viking.

 

Savanna will work great on either hull, but it may work slightly better on Vking, because on Viking, you can somewhat distance yourself from close range enemies, so Freeze/Firebird/Isida are slightly less of an issue when using Viking. Its virtually impossible to run away from a freeze/firebird/isida using a heavy hull so close range protection will benefit a Titan more.

Savannah makes more sense for lighter hulls, because of the nice rail protection, viking can survive lots of rail shots, and with the new light m3, there are tons of rail m3s. Definitely don't get mammoth, it is outclassed by titan. If you're a midfielder, and  you go all over the place, you'll want something with good speed and decent health so I'd recommend viking, but if you play lots of DM, titan is a great choice too.

Yes, rail is great on hornet, isida and firebird and freeze too. Rico is probably better on viking, and twins is better on titan/mammy.

1- rank up, get the light kit M3 and Thunder M3

2- rank up, get the light kit M3 and save up for Thunder and Isida M3 in a sale

3- buy a lots of supplies kit, rank up, get the light kit M3, save up for a sale

4- Paint kit M2, rank up, light kit M3

5- else

 

Actually, I would love to do the first. But don't NEED Thunder M3, I'll have a lot to discover with the light kit M3. So the 2nd option seems reasonable. The third one wouold help me to rank up because I won't have enough First Aids at my rate of using supplies. But I guess I can drug without first aids :) the 4th option is the worst imo, as Prodigi is getting so popular at my rank. And Spark is in both Kits, and I already have Cedar and Tundra MUed, and I like 'em.

So I guess I'm gonna do the 2nd option but what would you do guys?

Dont buy a supplies kit. Don't buy thunder yet. As you said, with your Light M3 kit, you'll already have tons of fresh gameplay and enjoyment to have, no need to overwhelm yourself with two new M3 weapons at the same time. Its much better to wait for a sale, which I can see coming somewhat soon - you'll still be enjoying your light M3 kit for a long time to come.

 

The reason I say not to buy a supplies kit, is because with M3 light kit, you'll (hopefully) be playing ALOT more XP battles and by doing this, you save drugs up like crazy. On top of that... you don't even need a paint for XP battles. They're fun, especially with friends, and you become a far more skilled player than a drugger does dominating dummies mercilessly. You can still rank without supplies, just play with low ranks, and play in maps where its very 'dense.' Places that have alot of players in a small area with little cover, like Hill, Island, Combe, etc where you can quickly get kills without any down-time inbetween. Desert is fine too as you've been doing, but when you drug, try to focus more on just using double power with rail, and use cover more to your advantage. And on top of that, obviously shoot only enemies when you're 100% sure you'll score a kill. Don't spend an excessive amount of crystals on buying drugs just because you want to rank on Thursday... better to wait 1-2 more days and save 30k+ from not buying drugs.

 

Don't buy the paint kit M2, you have Helper... and hopefully you'll get helper more in the future as well, plus you can only use 1 paint at a time. Needle will be in your inventory, and any kit that you buy in the future, or upcoming sale, will provide you a good paint so you don't need to worry about that.

 

So yes, option 2.

I havent been here for that long actually, only since Update 123/rebalance. I don't know when a sale is coming nor do other mods, we'll have to wait and see what comes. I'm just guessing that one will come because its been a little while and Tanki has sales frequently.

 

You can earn 29k in 20 hours of gameplay. If you play hard nonstop for two days straight focusing on kill-stealing, and flag capturing, then you can easily rank waaay before that SMP runs out. I once made 140k xp in under 2 weeks. Thats 10k xp a day for 14 days in a row on average.. some more, some less. You'll get 11k for simply ranking up.

 

Your plan sounds fine if thats what you want. If possible though, you should probably aim to purchase the Light M3 kit at brigadier, rather than buying Savanna/Smoky. There are lots of Needles running around since the new light kit M3 was implemented, and there were already plenty of Savannas before. Facing 1-2 smoky protection paints in a Sandbox 4v4 seriously reduces Smoky's effectiveness. If you get smoky + savanna, you'll still be in need of a M3 hull... and it sounds like you'll be out of crystals. The light M3 would get your paint + hull + weapon and at 299k its a steal. Then you can play lots of XP battles, become alot more skilled, and save up crystals from all the pro-battles in XP that you'll be doing. You can earn quite alot of crystals like this if you win your XP's because crystal drops are disabled, which means 114% more fund.

Don't vs them to start with. :) Play in matches with those just one below Lieutenant General, or don't play drug-war battles at all. Only play XP battles, or weapon/hull-specific type matches.

 

Diferent types of gameplay <- Go here, tell all your friends so they can play these matches listed here with you, they are far more fun than random battles, trust me. If you have a unique idea of your own to suggest in that topic, do it too so we can all enjoy it.

 

No need to worry about kits, just play in games without them.
