Free players, whats your method to saving crystals?

Mine is toughing it out as M0 Rail/Hunter to save for an M2 kit. I'm saving for Stinger, then going to grab me M2 Rail on another sale. Tornado is just too over priced and this way costs a bit more but I get M2 Isida thrown in :)

 

I've got 78,520 crystals currently saved up. I feel so triumphant to know I can get what buyers get but for free in terms of real money. Now, if not for the holidays I'd probably still be in the 50,000s. But this is part of the strategy. To play as much as you can with the Beginner's pass and during high crystal rewarding holidays like these. 1.5x more exp but 4x crystals :)

I've never bought a penny from the game and never will, my strategy is to enter and win as many contests as possible and catch Gold Boxes. Not a perfect scheme for everyone but it works for me. The only battles I find to be profitable are Poly CPs, any others I'm in there for the fun.

For me, it's simple, I don't buy any kits except supplies, because its too much work. Instead, i save up for a desired equipment on a sale of 30% or better.

 

 

Which is why I feel as though im prospering better than most free to play players B)

I play on my alt currently. I don't have 70K laying around right now but I think I'm doing quite well with 1 main M1 combination.
Like Mister Toiletpaper said; buy stuff in sales and don't waste crystals on supplies, too many turrets/hulls, or micro upgrades.
 
I don't want to adjust my gameplay to get more crystals out of battles. I just play and finish my games and the crystals will eventually come. Having fun is the most important thing. If you focus on one combination at a time you'll be able to get them as soon you gain the required rank. I like to invest some time in a turret or hull, makes it satisfying when you gain new M's and maybe eventually an M4. It just takes time and patience. I remember setting the goal to get Thunder and Viking M3 at the rank of WO1 5 years ago.
 
When I see buyers who probably got their M3's within a few minutes I compare it to my experience in the test server.
You've unlimited crystals and are able to buy the stuff you like but you didn't put hard work in getting them.
I don't know, I just like to invest time in a certain piece of equipment. Seeing progression is really nice.

And the most I ever saved was 36 000 crystals. But once I had 92 000 crystals because a guy bought them for me.

Who buys kits anyways, they're soooo expensive. The best kit I ever bought was on a low account, I bought Buffalo kit and Krakatoa kit which are more expensive now. The best kits I've had are Siberian, Boar and Tornado NOT on this acc, on my other one which is banned: Fluffy_Kitten.

Guess what, I have M0 Railgun as well with 7/10 upgrades (35 upgrades) and it does between 300 and 900 damage with an average of 500-600. 

Sucks that I can't fully upgrade it and get m1 free

I agree - I play 1 hour a day (then it won't let me access the internet on the computer for the rest if the day) so I don't get too many, and I try to save what I have.

Using Fire/Freeze especially Fire in Polygon CP battles really helped me a lot, effective way of earning crystals as well. With fire, you just need to deal damage to as many players as you can, you don't have to finish them because if someone else finishes them, you will still get your experience and with Fire, the extra burning you deal to them is very useful.

On my ALT (redlinezak) I have used only 1 combo at each M level.  So as soon as it was available i bought an M1 kit which was Hooligan i think.  Then at M2 i bought Boar.

Have done 1 MU on each and nothing more.

Didn't use any supplies until around 3rd Lieu so I had lots saved up.

Since then i have tried to use supplies sparingly (gets harder the higher you get) and continued with just that 1 combo. 

I do 1 mission a day just to keep the chain going.

I play the battles i enjoy rather than specifically high earners so no doubt i could have improved my crystal count.

 

I am currently Brigadier and have just under 650000 cry.

As soon as i reach Lieutenant General i will get an M3 kit and just concentrate on getting it to M4 (not sure which kit yet as i want to try a different combo to the ones i have on this account).

I bought viking and smoky m1 and then saved 280k( took two months.) I bought isida m2 and then pit-bull kit at captain rank. Then I again saved until lf.colonel (200k) and bought norhtern kit. Now I am saving for m3 kit and have almost 100k. 

 

As you can see, after you get your first m2, it isn't difficult too save for other equipment of same level. Now I currently saving for m3 kit. It will be hard but after i get my first m3 kit , rest of the m3 will be easy to save for just like i did at m2.

 

In total I have saved ~600k in 3 months. It takes a lot of self control and patience but after you get it. you will like it more then if you had bought it because you know how much effort you have put into it.

- Don't beg for gold boxes in the chat and from buyers like a noob, get the high attitude, play for some time and maybe one will find you as a helpful team-mate and maybe even drop one or two for you.

- Whenever you get a mission which reward is "Premium Account", save it for later, maybe you will once find yourself in the battle with high fund and yourself with high score in it (but make sure the mission is completed and you only have to claim it in the last moments of the battle).

- I used to do every mission every day (most of the time) before the update which made impossible to do it in Pro-Battles. I always consider how much time for playing I got and is mission worth to take some time to do it.

- Find good battles - Take into account how much time you got to play and find the best battle from the list. Also try to get some good friends in the battles to win more often. Hill CTF with 50+ flags is a really useful way to earn some crystals if you got some time.

- Try to apply for any available contest - well it's free, why not to try your luck?

- Save & Cheapskate - every single crystal you see on the picture above was painfully earned. You got to ask yourself "how??" and I will say y'a "extreme cheapskating" because I got only 4 M0s, 3 M1s and 3 M2s I really needed since the creation of the account (at different moments).

- Believe and work on it - You have strong wish, do not let yourself to waste your money on "2~3 candies" when you can buy "whole cake" just a bit later.

And you only have to wait until you get your first few m3s. After that you can buy whatever you want :D  becuase you will always have few m3s and m3s don't become outdated like m2s and m1s, so this really motivates me.

If you log in only to do your missions, you can have a crystal / experience ratio of 2+, and add about 300+ supplies to your garage every week (atleast at my rank).

 

Long periods of almost inactivity (just doing missions) on an account means you can come back with a bang when you wish to play more.

In the meanwhile you could play on another account.

 

It is best to stick to one medium-long range turret and 1 medium hull at each m0, m1, m2.

For m0 and m1, don't go beyond 1/10 MU.

 

I'm still confused whether it is worth MUing m2 to m3 or not, especially if you have only 1 combo.

Yes, stick only to one/two combos and get them to M3. Then buy other M3s. Do your missions everyday. I always change mission with supply reward for free, hoping I'll get something with crystals reward. Be active on small events like May Day celebration, get lots of crystals and upgrade your combos on big events (christmas, TO-bday... Usually 50+% discount). Don't waste crystals on MUing M0/M1/M2. Maybe focus on kits. You will save a lot of crystals.
