Free players, whats your method to saving crystals?

Become Staff and use your salary effectively Just simply don't waste crystals. I don't believe 100% in getting an even crystal/EXP ratio because if you save well enough that isn't important. I saved up and got Tornado Kit around a year ago on this account due to pure saving. Then, from Lieutenant Colonel I had 0 crystals and saved all the way up until Major General and purchased Legend Kit at 369k crystals. Just do missions, try to win Newspaper Contests and other Contests and spend intelligently.

Yup - when you encounter enemies with 40%-50% protection vs your one turret - SOL.

Let me explain.

Protections on specific turrets can be anywhere. Once it will be Hammer protection, next time someone will have some other protection... Any turret you wear will face someone with protection against it. So you are talking it's better to be ready for changes if someone has that protection against your own weapon. But is it more worthy to get few M3s and face the whole team of other M3+* enemies with someone with protection (there will always be one), or to get one M3+* (M4*) weapon which obviously help more in fighting other M3+ enemies with, again mentioning, someone with your protection? I am rather going to have few-hundreds of thousands crystals worth weapon on the battlefield than few-hundereds of thousands worth weapon all-spread in the garage just worth to have for specific scenarios while at same time weaker than the rest with each of the weapons. Quality over matter.

Then better choose your m4 turret carefully.

Yes I get your point, and that is why I don't care much about protection modules becuase someone will always have turret you don't have protection from. Same goes in reverse, there will always be protection module from your turrret.

But Consider a typical polygon match. Almost 5 of 8 players in every poly cp i play have thunder twins or firebird and I have protection agaisnt them all so it makes a huge difference.

In the same way, although your turret will always have protection, but if you go to poly cp and 5 people have protection from you then that is problematic. So it helps.

Another thing is that you will get bored with one combo. Making m4s will make you stronger but you will get quickly bored. On the other hand, having more m3s will make you little bit weaker but more fun and diversity.

And there isn't much diffrence between m3s and m4s. For example, smoky m3 and smoky m4 has damage difference of 70, now it sure matters in 1 vs 1 but it isn't going to make much diffrence in tema battles since you are just lowering their health at little  bti lower rate.

I like to think about that like this, with smoky m4, you are killing mammy m3 like titan m3. If I have m3, i have more mammies to kill but it will not make huge difference because their will always bet hornet and hunters......

I like this part of your idea and I do agree with it in a way or another. Having a collection of equipment from is a good idea and you will never got bored of it, not to mention the fact that you will change to what your enemy is using so having multiple different equipment is a great thing so depending on the situation you or your team is, you can easy change from this to that but at the same, despite knowing this, I like to save more even if it will make me bored.

I am not a buyer, and since low ranks when I bought my stuff very carefully. I used to no life dictator firebird/thunder in Polygon CP 1 hour matches. Gave me more than 1k all the time and I used to play a lot. I always bought 2-3 turrets and I made sure each one has a different range. But the balance of equipment was also different back then :D

I believe MU'ing M2s is worth it, since look:

  • M3 unlocks at Marshal
  • By the time M2 unlocks, you will get 10/10 in less time by which you reach Marshal (meaning you now have a M3 combination in a rank lower than Marshal), unless you want to buy a kit (which in fact is a waste on paint and in some cases, poor module choice).

I have proof that this works. My uncle @joji79, recently started playing Tanki and I told him to do just this. He's almost a General with 10/10 Ricochet, Viking, Dictator, Hammer and Freeze - not a single crystal bought.

Well that profile shows me premium paint owned, which implies buyer, which implies not a free player.

Saving for m3 kit allows you to have m4/m4 by Marshal.

Kits below 350k or 400k are still worth it. Some have decent modules too,

At 50%sale:

1 M3 Turret+1 M3 Hull+1 M3 Module= 115k+100k+125k= 335k

The cost is higher at 30-40% sales. 50%sale are rare and come only thrice a year and even its is not confirmed.

The kit

M3 Turret+M3 Hull+M3 Module+ Really cool paint= ~340k ( cheap ones) or ~440k( expensive ones just 80k more).Plus, you can buy them anytime.

Now, if you try to just MU your turret and hull,

MUs of turret+MUs of huls=~225k+ ~100k = 325k+3 months wait (according to new system)

If you think about it, the kits aren't bad deal at all.

is this 325k to get a m4 combo? (after kit ofc) because thats pretty achieveable, considering the MUs help your turret/hull along the way

You are pretty much sacrificing another m3 kit tho for the MUs
