List the languages of the Moderators

Recommended Posts

Since the EN community has a much more diverse community then the others. Mainly cause the English language is quite widely spoken.

So to help those who may not have this advantage:

- By the names of the Helpers on the forum somewhere (List of Helpers maybe?) - the languages spoken by each mod will be written next to their name?
- Or even like a little flag of their name to show which language they speak.

So like..

Classic - EN,FR

EN - English

FR - French

-----

Or even just a little flag of the countries your from - since if your from that country its kinda expected to speak that language .-.

This will lead to PMs that are directed to specific moderators, and that use the language the mod and the player share in common. But if the mod want's to forward it, share it with other mod's to get help or to simply show it to them, the whole thing would have to be translated.

To be able to communicate in English throughout the whole forum is a great achievement.

If this feature get's done, I will ask to post only an EU flag besides my name, so that all will continue to talk English to me :)

EU?! They will talk to you in French, German, Italian, Spanish and many other languages but English, since UK is not part of EU anymore.

Instead of flags the two letter designation is better: EN, FR, DE...

And maybe we need translator helpers and translation subforum.

Translating isn't needed - since you can use google translate and on certain web interfaces it translates it automatically.

Not very reliable though ... however, I do like this idea.

The only reliable way is to ask someone who knows the language well to translate for you. This is why allowing players to see which Mods can speak which languages can help pass the message quicker and save their time.

It's a good suggestion. I prefer the flag option, even though for people from India it might not be that informative - they speak multiple languages in India.

What if there is no forum moderator that speak french?
Will the people go to the FR reporters or the event helper?

I'm glade to help but this should not take me away from my main job.

If someone needs help in the language they should go to the Conversation club.

Well. all moderators are involved. Not just Forum.

They can do to any tanki helper.

Well if you were to be asked a simple question... It won't take that long.

To be fair, they could. However no one at first thought would at all think to go to the Conversation Club to ask a linguistic question. They would prefer to ask a moderator of that native language who could help?

Not all helper are equal, e.g. different responsibility and expertise. And no, not all question are simple. when you need to explain all the requirements to create a clan you will see that it takes more than 5 minutes. You cannot imagine all the PM sent back and forth to have one guy to finally manage to open his clan after 2 months.

We, the FR group, already have use the FR conversation club for questions and answers, this as an advantage over the PM, as:

- public

- you can see previous Q&A.

- it is always open, there is always someone online to quickly respond if he knows the answer.

- find new friends

I would always redirect people to this topic. Your idea is good and would show diversity of TO and foremost gives some point of anchor for people lost in translation.

In all the positions there is already a diverse range of spoken languages. However at the end of the day, all the helpers have 1 task in common, helping your community. It may not be direct, but it is common sense? To be polite and help? Maybe if you cannot answer it please do add those into PM to help. But at the same time yes there is the Q&A topics, but some may prefer to stay more private or more of a 1 to 1 conversation.

Then you have your clubs. Generally (my opinion), it is made up from decent players who know the game pretty well and know their stuff. Everyone knows different things and everyone has different propositions. However many a very new to the forum nor know the contacts to get and retrieve more information to help others. Not saying they are all like this. Mais c'est vrai :P

At the same time a PM will not hurt.

But if people prefer to go to a club? Sure, but this isn't the whole idea of this topic anyways its just to show the languages the mods speak to help those quicker. Instead of new tankers going to find a barely touched Conversation Club with a few messages a day/week.

I think you're right. I completely lack of this common sens.

Maybe I'm not meant to be an helper nor a forum moderator. I should rethink what is the best for everybody.

OMG you are illuminati confirmed !

This is exactly what I did for the Helpers contacts in my Skype.

I attributed a flag for each community (EN, IND, AR, FR) after the name of the helper.

When I talk with someone in the spamchat I know imediately the laguage of this guy !

This is a dumb idea if implemented in the game chat, because people will see a mod that doesn't speak their language, and immediately feel safe to swear, write bad stuff, etc. because the mod doesn't speak their language.  This would be fine in the forum.

Completed

This idea has been partially implemented in the Reporters and Forum Moderators list, but other helper groups cannot reveal languages they work with due to the nature of their work.
