Yo. This is a club for anyone who plays or enjoys chess. If you don't know what chess is, you must be living in a hole it's a board game that has been played since quite a way back. There are many different derivatives of chess (Chinese chess, Japanese chess, Turkish chess), so go crazy. From time to time, if there are enough people interested, we may have chess tournaments online (if I can find a valid site to do this on).

How to join:

Just post an application here.

How long have you played?

Favourite colour?

Any setups/starting moves you like to use/favour?

I learnt how to play chess when I was 8 but I'm not a regular player.

Openings I prefer with white: Polish Opening, Modern defence

Black: Sicilian defence dragon variation

Do you play the Rxc3 sacrifice when white has played O-O-O in the game?

You wanna be one? Cos I'm not, even though I'm pretty good :P

Well I'm probably not good enough tbh, but if you look at the front page, you can see the mentor thingy. I'll figure something out, which will allow newbies to get help from older/better players.

For all players who are interested in playing chess online, here is a good site.

That website looks sweet! But I think I will pass for now, as I currently do not really want to start anything new in my life...  :P

I thought the link I gave was good for absolute beginners.

Fair enough.

It was, but I mean for people who are new, but want to become at least intermediate level players.

Oh, the "advanced-beginner" - knows the moves, plays casual with others, but has no club or tournament experience.

It is really good. If you wanna learn chess sometime, just register an account. There are many lessons.

What is your elo rating?

Mine is 797  cos I lost quite a lot in the early stages.

But in real life, my chess rating is 1653 :)

I topped off at 1808. But the chess crowd I used to hang with was from Expert to GM. I am the lowest rated of all my friends.
