we have been tricked!

Oh yay the devs brought 50% discount on speedups and micro upgrades (not really).

whoo lets start buying...

did you know that a speed up for each micro upgrade costs twice as much as the upgrade?

this means its more worth buying the upgrade and wait 2 days for it to be ready than to wait for discounts (unless we get over 50% discount on speedups or the micro upgrades).

say the upgrade costs 20k crystals then that means the speedup costs 40k.

but if you buy it without getting the speedup then you spend in total 20k.

If you wait for discounts and get 50% off both then its 10k+20k=30k

turns out it isn't worth risking the chance of not getting a decent discount.

what if there's 80% off speedups? --10k+8k=18k. say there's 30 upgrades you save 60k.

is it worth it?

You are not being tricked. They have cut MUs speed by half and increased the price for SUs. Total cost is same.

No, you are not tricked and here is why:

They're already 50% off from what they used to be just a little while ago. Also, now there are only 10 steps, and 20 steps on m3 items. Doing 2 steps is 10-20% of the way, that's not nothing. Yes, micro-upgrades are expensive, but it's so much cheaper to get M4 now than before the update that changed all that. But I guess it will never be enough.

Now the overall price of micro-upgrades (step + speed up cost) is still the same, but the good part is that you don't NEED the speed-ups to micro upgrade your equipment. It's twice as cheap now to micro-upgrade your equipment, as long as you don't use speed-ups.

About 20 steps costing the same as 50 steps, yes (including speed-ups), BUT to get the same amount of progress before, you had to mu 2,5 steps and pay for 2 speed-ups, while now you have to pay for 1 step and pay for no speed up. This, together with the step cost being halved, makes micro-upgrading cheaper, if you have some patience and know how to get the most out of it.

As for the upgrade waiting time - that's just a standard feature of free-to-play games. You either spend a little and wait for a long time, or spend extra to reduce the waiting time. So the option to buy convenience for money is always there for you  :)

It's simple math. If x is the cost of MUs, then:

(x+2x)/2=1.5x

1.5x>x

Yes, upgrading with speed-ups during a 50/50 sale is 1.5 times more expensive, but it also means that you can upgrade your stuff in one day instead of waiting over 3 months. Not to mention that if you do it without speed-ups, you have to make sure you log in and activate the next step after the last one finishes, which can be a pain in the neck.

So yeah, this isn't any trick if you actually bother to think carefully about this offer.

Trick or no trick - they won't change things to the way we like.

I actually prefer the new system though - just buy 1 MU in each MU sale, without buying speed ups.

I feel sorry for you guys that just don't get the point.

The message is pretty simple: If you're having a hard time earning crystals, don't use speed-ups (not with, nor without discounts). If you just want your equipment upgraded fast, it's cheaper to do it during a discount than without one. Although that waiting for a discount partially diminishes the 'fast' upgrading.

People just save up cry for discounts but i am trying to show that the devs can do stuff to trick us in thinking the discounts are worth waiting for.

Discounts are definitely worth waiting for, if you rank up slowly.

The total cost of MUs is still the same as before if you combine speed ups. Steps have been reduced to 20 which means you can always buy a few steps during a sale and of course don't pay for the last speed up.

OR

You can MU 1 step at a time without buying speed ups which still turns out to be MUCH cheaper than when M4s would cost 900k WITHOUT speed ups. Now they cost 450k without speed ups.

If you wish to do things wisely, just buy 1 step on all your M3s every time there's an MU sale.

You'll get your equipment to M4 at a cost well below 450k tough it would take considerably long. There are close to 20 MU sales in a year.
