oh and climbing trees covered with ants, picking up random snakes, petting wild ducks, walking across a beaver to get to a better fishing spot, swimming in a creek 3yrs. after releasing an alligator snapping turtle into it, sitting on the edge of the innertube flying down the river at 40 mph, you know all that normal stuff that kids do.

The first time I went camping in a two-man pup tent by myself. I had heard about a primitive camp area in the mountains of West Virginia, USA at Red Creek just below Bear Rock. There were 8 campsites and I was the only one there for the entire weekend. Silence, peace and solitude. Just me, the crickets......was that a Bobcat I just heard? Yes, it was. I saw the tracks outside my tent the next morning.

I went back several times and each time was a different adventure, mostly involving the wildlife of the 4 legged kind.

Well. my name isn't Katy, but yes, I'm a woman and yes, I went by myself.....many times.

There's a difference between women who depend upon men to protect them and women who have learned how to protect themselves. Once armed with knowledge and know-how, a woman can be a force to be reckoned with. It's embedded in our genes. In the days of early man, the men went out on the hunt to bring back food. They would be gone for days at a time. The women were left back at the camp or small village to protect the home and children from raiders and wild animals. Because of modern society, most women choose not to tap into that strength. i could go into a long dissertation about it, but space won't permit it.

Most men would rather break up a fight between two men any day than to break up a fight between two women. That's because men fight according to the "rules", so they kind of know what to expect. Women ignore the "rules", which makes them unpredictable.

Enough said.

I'm not divulging my age.

Don't worry, I was very well protected by knowledge, experience and, yes, I was armed. Would you like to meet "Prissy"? She'll make sure you will never contribute to the growth of the Human Race.

Yes, I know the dangers of women being by themselves, that's why I made it a point to learn self-defense of many types. I'm a woman you don't want to mess with, especially if you get inside my space for other purposes than love and friendship. I tell people, "I'm like a cat. I'll purr in your lap, but don't corner me."

I'm not antisocial. In fact, I'm very outgoing, I love to be around people. I love to laugh, I love to live, I love to love. Just don't trigger my defense mechanisms.

I don't know. Never been in that situation. My gut instincts won't allow it. One can only say what one "thinks" one would do. But when it comes down to experiencing that situation, one can only react according to how the situation presents itself. Your scenario has too many variables, too many X factors....Too many "What if...." that cannot be predicted.

Besides, I'm not an Instructor nor a Teacher. What works for me may not work for someone else. I only know what I know and hopefully, that's enough to survive.

am still waiting answer of katydid....but she is unavailable..or took a break from tanki forum..

Since you are so persistent, I will answer your questions.

As I said, I'm not a Teacher nor an Instructor. I will not give out advice that may get an inexperienced person hurt, maimed or killed because they tried out one of my suggestions and it didn't work. This is not a lecture forum. I know many styles of self-defence and can integrate the style of one or more with another. You don't learn that with a few sentences on a forum.

Many years ago, my brother spent an entire summer teaching me just the basics of street fighting and defense. From there, I expanded my knowledge.

Since you're asking me all those questions that I can't answer, let me ask you a few:

1...Can you read a paragraph about a sport and then go out and expect to win?

2...If someone told you (not showed you) how the bake a pie, could you turn around and bake a cake without any more instructions?

3...Could you read a book about wrestling and then go into the ring with a seasoned fighter and expect to win? You would be lying on the floor of the ring saying, "I don't know why I lost. I read a book about it."

4... Let's bring this a little closer to home. I don't know whether or not you're a Magnum user, I didn't look up your profile. There are two controls for aiming: Angle and Trajectory. If you bought this turret, read about it in the wiki, do you think you could land every shot perfectly first time out in the battle field with it? I doubt it very seriously. It takes time and practice to become proficient.

With all this in mind, how could I even begin to tell someone about attack, counter-attack and defense in one or two paragraphs?

I remember when my class got their green belts in Kung-Fu Karate. Our instructor told us, "You know just enough about the Art to get yourself killed. Don't use it. This is just the beginning." It takes about 2 years to get to the green belt. Why do you suppose he told us that?

And yet you want me to explain attack, counter-attack and defense in a couple paragraphs. I'm not going to do it!!! So, let this be the end of it. Please. Every situation is different, action is different, reaction is different. One situation does not cover all situations.

oh katy.... I like ur style of explaining seems you were scolding me like a teacher :)  but atleast you have to do is to tell girls that atleast carry chilly powder or spray with them..... so that if they cant use their hands and legs to defend themselves .... but they can make attackers cry with burning eyes....  ;)
