Magnum- Too OP in some cases?

Recommended Posts

The Magnum is a great turret- there is no doubting that, but in some cases it can be too OP, so much to the extent that it actually ruins batles.

One example is in Noise, where once a Magnum or a couple of them join the red team, the battle becomes completely sided towards the reds. This is purely because the blue base is so small that the tanks are heavily concentrated close to each other, so Magnums from the red team have any easy shot at destroying everyone at once in the blue base due to its immense splash damage. This makes playing for the blue team in Noise extremely unfair and just not very fun due to being killed literally right after spawning. Therefore, the red team always have an advantage and can take flags from the blue base very easily, which ruins the excitement of the once amazing Noise battles.

Now, before you say that the blue team can use Magnums to destroy the red base too, please consider the fact that the red base is much larger and spread out than the blue base, so the red team tanks are also more spread out, making them harder to hit. Add this to the fact that a Magnum shooting from the blue base is shooting upwards and so is pretty much blinded and cannot see where they are shooting, which makes Magnum a particulary useless turret in the blue team.

So what I am proposing is that a feature which allows the Magnum turret to be banned from a Noise battle be implemented in the 'create battle' section, which gives tankers the freedom of choice on how they wish to play in Noise- with or without Magnums. I feel that this truly would make Noise battles great again!

Declined

Your claim is very valid (Magnum makes Noice even more unbalanced as it was).

But from the perspective of game design, you request a feature for the battle setup dialog that works only vs a single turret and is usefull only on a handfull of maps.

And if you like to change your feature to make it more widely applicable, pls take care to not hand out means for fire wasp by that way.

In this case I would suggest, that the noise map should be modified slightly, to make it balanced again, instead of locking out the turret from that map with an option. There was already a proposal to change noise and it was already passed forward to the developers.

I hope they do something about it, as the number of complaints is increasing - and they are valid.

Also, I think it is much better to just balance Magnum with all other turrets. Cut its damage by half, its reload time by 33%, and it's much more balanced than now.

 Cut its damage by half

Hazel said that he doesn't want to nerf turrets by simply reducing damage. That's "boring".

Then maybe when you shoot with Magnum your tank could become a rocket ship and fly to the outer space. That'd make it a lot funner and more balanced.

I never play noise map on the team which starts at the bottom, unless the game has a time limit, supplies are disabled, and the team at base has a good lead.

Absolutely. I'll pass your idea directly to him!

And then they should make the turret turn and it can become awesome.

- Half damage

- Half splash

- Faster reloads

- No charge. A single projectile speed that at a certain angle it can reach form one end the other in the longest map. (no more percentages to adjust) (to attack blue base in Noise they will need around 80 to 85 degrees angle and a long time for the projectile to come down)

- Spacebar tap = 0 degrees shot

- Spacebar hold = 1 - 90 degrees shot

- Z, X and C = as in any other turret

Magnum is balanced. Its inability to turn turret left/right compensates for everything. You and your teammates should sneak into enemy base while guy is busy handling his tank to adjust magnum direction.

This should have been considered, just in general to rebalance the magnum.  It is too powerful and should be balanced with other tanks.
