Pro battle settings be pop up windows when you join the battle

Recommended Posts

I think it would be an addition to the settings icon in the upper left hand corner of the battle image since it would catch your attention more. So here's how it would work. And if I didn't list any settings for a particular battle, then it would mean that that setting is turned off.

Example 1:

polygon cp. Without format.
Ranks: 3rd LT to Brigidier.
Time limit: 60 minutes.
Point limit: 250 points.
Supplies: ON.
Supply drop boxes: ON.
Gold boxes: ON.
Smart cool downs: ON.
Micro upgrades: ON.
Alterations: ON.
Friendly fire: OFF.
Auto balance: ON.
Auto finish timer: ON.

Example 2:

noise ctf. Xp/bp.
Ranks: captain to general.
Time limit: OFF.
Flag limit: 50 flags.
Auto balance: ON.
Auto finish timer: ON.
Friendly fire: OFF.

Xp/bp battles always have alterations, micro upgrades, supplies, drop boxes, and gold boxes turned off, so no point in add it in the example.

Example 3:

silence ctf. Parkour format.
Ranks: WO1 to captain.
Time limit: 500 minutes.
Flag limit: OFF.
Supplies: ON.
Supply drop boxes: ON.
Gold boxes: ON.
Friendly fire: ON.
Alterations: ON.
Micro upgrades: ON.

And like always, at the very bottom it will ask for you confirmation in the forms of YES and NO.
YES meaning that it will send you to that battle where as clicking NO will just close the window and do nothing.

Ps: it could be an option to turn on or off.

It will only work in pro battles, non-pro battles will not be affected by this.

And here's why:

standard battles.
Time limit: 15 minutes.
Kill limit: 100 kills (Dm and tdm battles).
Flag limit: 10 flags (ctf battles).
Point limit: 100 points (cp battles).
Ranks: default settings.

This is an addition to the idea that was born from a discussion between Maf and BlackWasp777:

if you are in the lobby, everything stays as it is.
Additionally, if your mouse hovers over a battle, you get a popup with the battle settings on the right side (but only the settings, as loading players and their score takes a while). So you can quickly hover through the battles check if you find an interesting one regarding to battle score (you see that in the battle list in the center) and settings (you see them in the hover box).
Once you click onto it, you will get the details in the right view (players, their score.. and also the battle settings as today).

Edited: how about now?

Under Review

former status, before the idea was updated

Declined

This is what I understood:

I am in the Lobby. I click on a battle and the most right section of the lobby shows me the battle details.

I see the battle details up, infront of the picture of the battle.. and you propose to not to display them at all.

If I enter the battle, I get a popup that displays only the active settings to me and then I've to press yes or no in order to enter?

These are the problems:

  • players need to look around through the battles and see the settings instantly. Settings are one main criteria if someone joins or not (like supply mode, golds on/off, ...). To make them visible _only_ as popup _after_ you click join would be very inconvinient.
  • Players sometimes need to enter a battle fast, if they wait in the lobby for an open slot. Your proposal makes the battle entry more complicated.
  • If you do not display features that are off, players tend to not to think about those and end up in a battle they do not like. It makes sense to display settings that are off too.

Please feel free to rethink your proposal.. and I  got you wrong, then please feel free to rephrase it and set it more clearly.

np, take your time.

btw, the following is an idea inspired by your proposal (outcome of a short discussion of Maf and me regarding your proposal):

if you are in the lobby, everything stays as it is.

You Srsly just hover over the battle and the setting just pop up? Is it already in the game, or just an addition to my proposal?

We enter battles fast, but then we don't know the settings when we are in the battle. We need an option to know the settings when we are IN the battle.

but this was not the point of his idea.

There is already a bunch of ideas, that display the settings to the players, when they are already in the battle.

It could be done within the statistics view, that is displayed when you press the [TAB] key.

thats an idea, based on your proposal

Ah ok, because if it was already in the game, I was gonna say that I never knew that. But yeah, that's a very good way for quick checking.

Ill add it to the topic in a spoiler :)

Status updated (in post 2).

After you removed, that the battle settings will be replaced by popups and added some other stuff, the idea makes more sense now.
