Do you think Tanki is pay-to-play?

Pay to play? No, we don't have to pay any money to actually play the game.

Is it pay to win? Maybe. Spending money offers players a significant advatage, especially premium account which is cheap while providing many benefits. The 1500 supplies kit available only in the shop creates an additional unbalance between those who spend and those who don't spend money. However, with patience, perseverence and well management of the crystals you earn it's possible to be a successful player as a f2p user.

I made around 140k by WO5 on this account then bought Stinger half way to 3rd lt for 120,840. I have almost 50,000 crystals already and I just began 3rd lt. I plan to slowly MU my kit to M3 by the time I hit Brigadier then get M3 Rail at Marshal for xp/bp.

Definetely, and it will only get worse as you progress to through the ranks.

The difference between buyers and non-buyers at higher ranks is abismal.

Tanki is free to play. Here's how:

Play with M0s till WO5 and get a good kit like Simoom. Don't buy any M1s, any modules, paints or drugs. When you get your kit, slowly MU it to M3 which should be done by the time you hit Brigadier. Then, buy your kit for free when you get to Marshal and there you go.

No. I think tanki has perfect balance between buyers and non buyers. Only problem is drugging which doesn't necessarily correlates with buying.

New players don't understand that strategy.

Its pay to win mostly because of the supplies.

As a non-buyer, you can win every game you play, use lots of supplies, but only if you play like 1 or 2 games per day, and use exactly one combo, and do all your missions.

PS:

Stinger kit won't last you till even Major rank.

Hornet, even at m3 is extremely weak in supply enabled battles.

Instead of MUing the hornet, buy a medium hull instead and MU that.

You will also need a turret with better range than isida.

You should have gone fo simoom or boar or voltage kit.

Supplies make imbalance that big. Free to play users can't afford playing too much in drug wars as they will soon run out of their hard-earned supplies.

Isida is a competitive turret in all game modes and it is useful in many kind of maps as well so I consider it a good choice, but I have to agree with you about Hornet. A medium hull would be just better, especially in smaller maps where Isida shines.

I use isida m2 and it rocks in polygon, arena, island, highland, tribute, parma, ( I have tried it in these maps). I get 400 score easily in 15 minute battles and I normally play at higher ranks than mine.

I know Stinger is weak. So was my Mo Hunter Isida but I made a heck of a lot of crystals with it. I play mostly on Noise CTF with no supplies or drop boxes. This forced players to rely on skill, not who can press 1 2 and 3 more than the others. I got Stinger for the fact I can heal teammates and get more than what I would for killing enemies. So, to sum it up, I'm getting far more exp healing teammates who won't fire back at me so there's no challenge in it. My K/D will keep dropping I'm sure because of this, but as long as I can get where I need to be, I'm good with it.

Also, I was thinking of buying Viking M2 and MU that. I'll last longer in Noise battles with it.

Viking m2 lasts fine well into marshall ranks, so no need to MU it ;)

Yes, I use isida m2 1/10 a lot even now, when I have m3 smoky, especially in polygon and island.

But its hard to do your daily missions using only isida.

It definitely does not do well in DMs.

One must have a medium / long range turret along with it.

Thats incorrect. m2 hulls without MUs from Lt. General rank onwards suffer a lot.

I know because I had viking m2.

If you avoid bigger maps, Isida is an absoulte beast in DMs because of its DPS and low amount of modules players have against it.

You need to be much wiser about your spendings nowadays, but I think it's somewhat possible to play without buying.

I'm trying to get 1 combo to M3 on my alt. I think it'll be quite hard to do especially after Major. Like @Sliced, I have saved up quite a few crystals on my WO5 and plan to MU those two items further up the ranks.

So far the kits didn't really offered what I liked and now it's like I have the crystals to buy an M2 version, but I must resist because there will be sales. The struggle is real.

I thought it was a different idea since he wrote the sentece on the following row but there you go:

The only difference between pro and standard battles is the RK. Surely, in DM, some turrets benefit more from the RK than Isida because of the limited ammo. That's why drugging DA is almost never a good choice for an Isida in DM, while DD is the better alternative.
