A largely foreseen Patch Update and an informative Vlog were at center stage of the last news week. Bonus/Discount cards have made it into the game with Patch #461. Plans for the mobile version and the steps that need to be taken to get it optimized are explained in the Vlog #134. Let's take a closer look.

Bonus & Discount Cards

First announced in Vlog #133, the Patch Update #461 brought them to the game. There are two types; first, we'll explore the Bonus Cards that can be given to anyone at any time, similar to how the "Double Crystal Card' (or DCC) worked.

Bonus Card - Crystal

Minimum rank: Gefreiter

Bonus: 100%

This is the new name for the DCC. It doubles the amount of crystals you receive when you buy them in the Shop.

Bonus Card - Gold Box

Minimum rank: Warrant Officer 1

Bonus: 20%

Similar to the crystal card, it affects the output. If you buy 10 golds, you will get 12; a 20% bonus.

Bonus Card - Premium Account

Minimum rank: Recruit

Bonus: 25%

This increases the length of Premium time you purchase. The card will give you 25% more time to take advantage of Premium status.

Here are the set of Discount cards. In contrast to the Bonus cards, these Discount cards affect your input, so you'll pay less for the item instead of getting more at the given price.

Matchmaking System Update

The discussion of the matchmaking system was prefaced with Ms. Aleksandra Nozhenko's response to players' requests to hear more about the mobile version of the game. She said the controls have been decided, but may require adjusting during testing. First, the game needs to be converted to the new HTML5 version. Second, the matchmaking system needs to be implemented. Both of these implementations can help you as a desktop player, but it is crucial for the mobile version's success.

As you know, Tanki is based on the Adobe Flash platform. The platform has become obsolete in most gaming circles and does not work on mobile phones. In order to provide Tanki to you when you're waiting to get a ride or taking a break from homework when you're away from your computer, the game needs to shift over to HTML5, which is supported on most smart phones.

The second feature that will enable a seamless experience is the matchmaking system. This will enable mobile users to enter a battle with just one click. It strips the freedom that you get with the battle list in the browser version, but on a phone, you don't want to be wasting data to find the perfect match. The system will find you the most convenient battle for you. In order to make this work, many maps  need to be able to fit 10 vs 10 in team battles. Here is Highlands, an example of how it would look.

Each team receives another high ground area with a good amount of cover and a couple spawn points. Here is the expanded version of Silence.

Each base gets more space to spawn within and the space between the bases is expanded by one prop space (or 5 meters). Lead Game designer Semyon Strizhak mentioned the normal version of the map as you know it will be available in PRO-Battles. The new versions may also become an available choice in battle creation, but that is not confirmed.

So what do you think; are you excited for the new cards? What do you think about the new map versions? Stay tuned to the news and Newspaper Specials section for the latest news. See ya!
