Steak paint turns brown when a firebird heats it up

But a steak does not get raw meet again, once it cools down :P

Seriously, it's quite some work (change burn visual mechanics, make something glow but still be brown, ..) while not being very useful.

Something like this, does happen in Tanki X though, thanks to Unity! :D

Firebird, and Freeze leave marks on your tank like frozen stuff or burnt off paints. But it gets OK after some time.

I know. Please consider the line before the term "seriously" as a joke, and the rest (after the work "seriously") as a valid argument ;)

It can't happen, otherwise, devs would need to apply this logic to all of the existing paints.

Why would they need to? Only for Steak paint, the tank just turns (juicy) brown on high heat but reverts back to its normal color like every other paint. It is only a change of shading, not a major project.

Good idea, i guess it could just get darker brown and then get back to normal instead of being bright burning red.

The devs can do that, except they have other things in mind.

This logic applies to other paints too, what if swash after getting hit by a freeze, is turning into an icy paint?

If they add this feature for one, people will complain about others.

But they always complain no matter what. At least the effects could be tested during the summer (Northern Hemisphere) for a day or week when there are plenty of outdoor barbecues. See if it gets a favorable reception.

That's true, but the main reason why this won't happen is that it's simply unnecessary. You want developers to spend a considerable amount of time working on a unique visual effect for a single paint that probably less than a hundred people will ever use.

Do you think players would pay for turning brown instead of red, when their concern in that very specific moment is "damn I will diee!!!" ?

imho the feature would be cool, that if a firebird roasts you, a writing appears on your tank that says "bad luck, 35% :p"

I will bet you all my crystals that players will pay for it, and also if they add other special features in shop paints.

eg. Mint glows like a Christmas tree when you shoot an enemy, Vanadium becomes red when shaft or striker laser points at it etc.

Your example with Mint gives a positive feedback to the purchaser on a positive event (he hit an enemy).

Your example on Vanadium is a great pre-warning feature, which is something positive to the purchaser.

Both are very valid ideas, that would increase the value of a shop paint.

to turn brown when you see flames all over you anyways, gives nothing of a benefit.

Useless fun features can be sold too, they sell if they give something positive.

People do not pay so much for having their negative emotions fueled more.

-> You could sell it if you turn the logic around:

Sell a shop based alteration for firebird (!), that makes each tank it toasts look like spareribs or like a cheesetoast.

This would sell better, as if would fuel the positive emotions of the firebird pilot.

I think situation based colour changing paints are awesome, even if they only do that if you're being heated up.

Paints anyways don't give a benefit. yet people spend 100s of dollars on them, so why not on a steak paint that changes colour?

because even if people spend money on very different things, the basic motivations are pretty similar: most payments are done to please some need or some wish. Think of it, even if you purchase supplies: you can not eat them. All they give to you is the fealling of having more power then others.

So paints do give a benefit, as they look great. They please a wish feeling good by owning something special, something expensive, something beautiful, something rare, or something that people just like to own for any other positive feeling associated with it. Each time he looks at it, he can feel good, and therefore the player continues to use it.

But people rarely pay for something that reminds them of a bad situation.

Take this example:

Would you buy supplies, that make enemy bullets auto aim and make them fly towards you?

Or would you buy supplies that make your bullets auto aim and make them fly towards targets you closely would have missed?

In both cases it is the same game mechanic, but depending on whom you offer it too, you can either sell a lots of them.. or next to none.

Same with the paints thing.

The basic idea has potential, but for the special case of looking like a burned piece of meat, it makes more fun for the firebird to see you turn into coals, then for the pain owner to be turned into a piece of coals. So it is more likely that the firebird owner will purchase an alteration that triggers the paint mechanic, instead of the paint owner would spend money on looking like burned meat.

beacuse of all paints, steak looks the most dull looking paint, the appearance of the paint looks like ruby, strawberry (fidget spinner looking paint) and probably cherry, at least give it a dynamic look for its price
