As of now, when we are in a battle where Equipment Change is off, it really takes some time to change our equipment. We need to leave the battle, go to the garage, change the equipment and then again rejoin the battle. In the process, there is a good chance that some other Tanker might have already joined the battle. So, I thought of a feature that would make the task simpler. 

 

For changing equipment in a battle where it is turned off, players would first need to click on Garage. Then they would select an equipment of their choice and finally, they would be asked whether they want to equip and rejoin or not.

 

If the player chooses 'Yes', then the player will automatically leave the battle and rejoin with the new equipment without anyone else getting a chance to join that battle.

 

Since the person is rejoining, so his score will be reset to zero. A warning telling the same can be displayed before he rejoins. 

 

If the player chooses 'No', then he would stay in the battle with the same equipment.

 

Note that this feature will be there only in battles where equipment change is off. For other battles, one can change equipment normally.

So any means that prohibit equipment change are welcome in this case. Following that, the "downside" that changing gear in the lobby could lead to loose the battle slot, is a highly welcome side effect, that enforces the original idea (come as you are) even more.

where you saw something like "Come as you are" thing? If tanki waanted your "come as you are", then why they introduced equipment change during battles in the first place?

I think you mixed something up? When [equipment change = off] then it is [come as you are] (or Wasp Fire :p).

Come as you are

He means that if you wear Twins-Viking, you are going to fight with it without being able to change. All other options like changing outside and re-joining are risky and are legal to happen.
