Shaft - The new king of DM?

Shafts, as you all know, are the ones who pick you off as you're about to catch the gold and when on Stadium at night, make you feel like you're at a rave. The ones who camp out but can make a very big impact on the outcome of the game.

Shaft was released in 2010, right? So OP it could one-hit K.O an M3 Mammoth. Also, like Isida, Shaft has gone through so many buffs and nerfs, so it's out there that it's too weak or too strong. Back in October, when Shaft received a fairly large nerf, they became nothing more than harmless laser pointers. From being able to one hit-K.O Titans, to being weaker than the previous modification of Shaft before the rebalance.

Here's Shaft's specs now:

I remember putting a lot of work into Micro upgrading my M1 Shaft on a really old account, when M2 Shaft on MU would cost more than M3s, when the 50/50 thing still existed. So OP to so UP...I had to start over.

But nowadays...Shaft, in my opinion, has become one of the most over powered turrets in the game.

Two shots at one 3/5 of full power does it for a heavy hull and Shaft reloads faster now. Also, arcade shots are about 2.5 seconds on the reload, doing as much damage as an M0 Rail. Yes, M0 Rail is weak, but halve the reload time and remove the charge up time, and you've become over powered. Get some DD, you do over 1,000 damage per arcade shot with an M3 Shaft every 2.241 seconds, and little over 1300 at max. A Whopping 1,500 at M4! Enough to two shot M4 Medium hulls in just TWO seconds!

Alternatively, you can get the Assault Emitters alteration, adding a 25% boost to your minimum damage, but at the same time, a 25% longer reload, making for a 2.625 reload time. Although, if you have M4 Shaft, you will do no less than a staggering 1,650 damage! Nab yourself a Dictator, the Badger T-F module and you're set!

While you can destroy Firebirds at close range, you can pick off unsuspecting players across the map!

Sorry Firebird...your alts won't help you now...

This combo, with a good paint to blend in, will ensure that you'll keep to the top of the leaderboard for certain.

Who knew? Shaft is op at both long and close range!

Approved.

-Grammar edits.

-Added a few words here and there to aid clarity.

-Added a title.

Overall, not a very clear article. There is little to no outline, nor are there specific points. Plus, the entire article has absolutely nothing to explain or justify the title.

Gave a brief look into Shaft as the introduction

I made points of Shaft's specs (Reload speed and arcade shots mostly)

The Title is a question so I'm not going to say it IS the "New King of DM," also, I didn't get too deep into it, so there can be some discussion about it. It's mainly an idea, not an actual fact that Shaft is the best in DM

The Article is mainly suggesting why Shaft may be as the title says. Notice the ? at the end.

I disagree, you get trapped with a Freeze, you're dead. You get salvo'd by a Striker, you're dead. You get burnt by a Firebird, you're dead. Striker is the king of DM unless you know how to work with Magnum. Because:

  • It has a very little reloading time between shots. You don't need to do a salvo every time.
  • Almost no one has protections from Striker, easy peasy two shot kills.

Proof?

I was 36, 0 by camping on the platform in the Red Base until the whole map decided to turn on me.

No offence, but looking at the quality of some of your other articles/stories, I feel like this is somewhat lacking.

To be honest, I could knock this up in about 20 minutes...

This article is just 275 words.

I thought you needed 400 words or above to get an article accepted.

I thought you needed 500. AW has really dropped its standards lately.

Actually, if you count it I think you'll find that the word count is 396, or 403 with the title. This is just about enough to get it in, as the word limit is a minimum of 400 words, although such articles are still approved at the Reporters discretion.

Woops, I left out the first two paragraphs.

Well, how can you abuse me? you don't have to right to abuse me, please.

Mistakes are made, and I've also apologized. Please remove that word from your sentence.

Nope, it pretty darn true.

Hmm, unless you have a higher account, or your Thunder m2 is m3 (or there or there abouts),  and you're drugging like mad, then your chances of actually killing someone of that high rank are pretty low...

Not really - it takes strategy and skill. I have the Stinger kit which will finish its 7/10 delay soon, then I can buy the 8th step. So, I'm nearing M3 already as a 2nd Lt. Plus, if I come up to a tank which I have protection against, such as Paladin, they're dead. Plus, I like to keep the enemy on their toes, since I use speed boost a lot, so I'd be speeding circles around my opponents or taking routes other tankers might not think of. Such as diving off the top bridge on Highways as I get the kill, landing safely at the bottom.

Sounds crazy, but if you're going fast enough and time it right, if you go off an edge while turning, your tank will spin around, which will transfer weight more evenly, thus decreasing your chances of landing helplessly on your side or upside down.

Plus, Isida M2's crazy 750 dmg per second is quite deadly, so I have that, agility, a highly upgraded Hornet and possible protection going for me :)

Actually, many players that I face just end up spawning back in base in tears.

Ya think?

In short, don't camp unless you seem pretty safe. Be constantly on the lookout for any tanks that may respawn near you and take immediate action, which is more easily done with mouse controls (right click, then just move your mouse around). Only scope when a target is in your sights and you are sure you will be able to hit your target. Try to abuse your arcade mode (its got massive damage when on double power) at close ranges.

The article is correct. Shaft is OP these days. So I bought one.

You're against me when I use my thunder, you're dead

In a Striker vs Thunder match, advantage striker. It too is an OP turret. Striker is by far my highest k/d tank.

We're talking about going up against a shaft, not any other turret.

It's a shame that this article is not to up to what you usually deliver.
The picture is bigger than the whole text. ._.
I hope you will fight back and next time you will shine again.

Yeah it was veering off topic. Someone broght SAtriker into the convo but you are right. The thread is about shaft. To which I say It's pretty OP. But that's not the best term because a few turrets are OP in my estimation.
