EU servers

I want an answer to a simple question from devs ( if they care to answer)

It supposed this game is a team playing game (except DM) where players communicate with each other and try  to win the battles. So the question is simple:How can the european players communicate and cooperate with the russian players to win a battle when they can not speak the same language?

Off-topic, but I'm a bit surprised at this - Russia is a more or less developed country - why aren't Russian school children made to study English?

They do study english, but only after primary school I suppose

English language in Russian state schools is pretty basic. Only after secondary school children are actually able to communicate in English on a somewhat conversational level. And as most players are probably around the ages of 10-15, then they probably either don't know enough English, or are too lazy to try and use it.

I definitely agree with the topic. If devs made it impossible for players to find others speaking the same language, then they have to add something to make it easier again. I personally vote for this idea.

Language is key in communicating with your teammate. Visible flags or something like that can be fun but will not solve the language problem.

There are a lot of russians in this game, so there is no urge for them to speak english (however maybe they can). For me personally the loss of english as a common language results in seriously reduced playing time. I keep asking players to speak english but no results.

Is tanki monitoring language usage in battles? I bet use of english language has dropped by more then 70% in general.

To me the solution is creating EN - language servers again, OR automatic translation (but this will take way more dev time)

Nice idea but it can not solve the problem with the language. And i still can not find what reasons tanki had to close the eng servers, they just made the game more annoying and difficult for all the players especially for the european players. (and still not a simple answer from a dev)

Hm yeah and the M4 problem has also arises with this. I guess chat translator and dividing of legend rank battles according to their legend numbers  will do the trick

Thumbs up for this topic.

Question has also been asked by many in the original topic on the server merge, but no answer was given (guess there is no good answer), just a lot of hot air about how essential this change is.

Server merge seems to fall in line with lots of other recent updates to remove *any* variety/complexity from the game. Especially this one seems like a totally unnecessary change frustrating the non-Russian community .

I definitely agree with the topic. If devs made it impossible for players to find others speaking the same language, then they have to add something to make it easier again. I personally vote for this idea.

Typical Tanki approach: mess up the game and remove good functionality....then, many months later, maybe some "improvement" comes along to partially clean up the mess..

Don't much like the idea of a country flag. It just seems like a much more complex way to maybe getting something similar to preferred servers for the different communities. And as a non-British / non-German, but fluent in both languages, what flag would I put..

In my other higher accounts, I used to give out battle cries or alert my team. Like: "Come on team, we can do this." If we were falling behind. Or "Quit playing TDM and get this map (blue/red)." If we were CP. Or "2 minutes for the win." Or "1 minute 1 flag for the win." Something along those lines. A lot of times it worked and the team played harder. But now, when the entire chat is in anything other than English, how do you communicate that?

Simple answer: not enough players to keep them divided and have enough battles.

And less servers to run. Even now 24 could easily be reduced considerably.

I do not want to play with the Russians because the Russian is a poor intellectual country and does not know English which is a language of the international language.
What to do in this case? You do not understand with the Russians. It's the same with the Chinese or Japaneze.
How can you play in the same team with those who do not understand English? It's a comedy or nervous game, curses and swearing. When I say to an isida to give my life, he brings me vodka. :) Lol game.
Are you all Russians?

Before the merge the eng servers always had battles for all the ranks so i can not see the reason to erase them.

It was only 5, 10 or 20 but it always had a battle to play. Now the gave us many battles but all of them are filled with russians who do not know english. The problem is huge if they want to solve it they have to bring back the eng servers, otherwise they gonna have only russians players to their game.

That's an interesting question. To tell you the truth it is something that puzzled me as well.I reckon that we should follow the old system , even though all the communities are now collected in one called EU .German should play with German .English with English and it goes on .But if you know a foreign language , take advantage of it and join battlefields in which you will have no problem to communicating wit your teammates .But the only way to find out that , is to join the battle firstly ..I hope my answer if helpful enough :) Good luck !

I totally agree that it is now frustrating because so few players can chat in English. But what I hate to see is someone in chat telling a Russian "speak english". It's rude and selfish to me. This game was created by Russians, we're lucky we're allowed to chat in English at all, in fact we're lucky to even be playing the game.

But the lack of chatting is a bummer. Perhaps Tanki could license some translation software or service from Google, Microsoft, or someone. Not sure if the technology is up to the task yet but it may be. Of course, game chat tends to be full of slang and bad spelling and grammar which would make translation difficult, but if the translation were handled by learning AI, it might get pretty good at it. And half the stuff said in chat doesn't make much sense anyway, so how much worse could the translation be?

Now please bring back Madness.

Well, how do you follow the old system when all battles are full of Russian players??

Again, how to join battles where I have no problem of communicating (and no, I won't learn Russian just for Tanki)..?

I'm afraid it wasn't.. :P

Maybe immature kids behave like that. Reasonable people wouldn't expect Russian players to speak English, but that's also true the other way round. But no, we're not "lucky to be even playing the game" - the non-Russian community *could* be a very profitable market for this game, if less mistakes were made and the game was actually improved instead of being made worse..

Those translation programs are nowhere near being usable for that (maybe good enough to have a good laugh). Why such a complex solution, when we had a simple system that was working fine?

English is the most common language in europe, everyone know even a few words in english and can chat in battles. I do not blame russians to not knowing english because the biggest part of their country it is not in europe but in asia so they do not need the english so much and neither can blame the european players to not knowing russian because they do not need them. The 2 communities are just different u can not combine them. The problem is big this is not a solo game this is team based game where the chat with your teammate is necessary to win a battle.

As i told above u can not expert from russians to speak english it is not common language for them.

And ok this game was created from russians but we are not lucky because they let us play their game, they are lucky we are playing their game, they earn money from us so they want us to play. If they do not want us to play their game they can close the english community, u can not have an english community and do not have battles for them to play.(we are still waiting for a honorable dev to make his appearance and give us a simple answer.)

Because the old system wasn't working fine any more. I was logging in to find maybe, if I was lucky, five battles to choose from, two of them are parkour, one is Polygon CP and the rest only have one or two players. No thanks. And Russian players and I have used Google to translate conversations between us, it's not great but it can facilitate communication. So why not build it into the game so we don't have to go back and forth between the game and Google? It shouldn't be a complex solution, it should be easy to implement.

Many times, I play late at night. What games are available, which are very few, are nothing but Russians. Before the merger, I never had a problem finding a good battle on the English servers. Now it seems the English don't play late night any more.

I think you're exaggerating. Number of players was going down, but at Legend rank I usually had way more than 5 battles to choose from. Anyway, if back then you didn't mind about not playing in English speaking teams, you could just go to Russian servers with tons of battles to choose from. Now there's only Russian servers, great improvement..

Yeah I've used Google translate too, good enough for rudimentary conversations and a misunderstanding here and there. Wouldn't want to use this during a heated battle. And looking at the mess the Devs did in this game for some of the updates, this is probably anything but simple to implement for them..

The game is just unplayable. We can not chat with anyone, we can not cooperate with anyone in battles, everyone play for themselves in battles and the devs just bring useless updates (overdrive). I really can not undestard they do not care?they can not see the problem? so many days and no one gave us a cleary answer why the had to merge the rus and eng severs and created such a big problem to everyone.

ok I'm not reading all over this , but why can't they add a system to translate players chat in battles this way when someone is talking in Russian then it would be translated into English on our screens . this would solve so many issues even for Mods for players banns ..

Go and play with Google translate, and you'd find the technology is not quite up to the task..
