Map Editor - Create your own map and invite friends and clan members

Recommended Posts

I have a brilliant idea that I have asked before but unfortunately was declined by the developers and admins of Tanki Online.

My idea is to have a map editor that allows users to create their own maps with a special interface that can be merged with the upcoming HTML5 and the matchmaking system.

The matchmaking system with path the way to new, more advanced and better features for Tanki Online.

What the map editor needs to do is to give players the ability to fully create their own maps and save them in a client on their computer's hard disk for later editing and usage. When the maps have been designed and finished by players, then players can invite their friends and clan member to join battles on their own customized map. Players shall be able to earn crystals as usual.

The good thing about playing in a custom made map that you built yourself is that you can create the map depending on the hull or turret you use. Players can set up where the spawn points and supply boxes drop, map size and elevation, plus the different types of terrain they want to use for camouflage along with the paints players have already owned in their garage.

I want to see the matchmaking system give the ability for players to create their own maps and invite (only) their friends and clan members to custom maps.

The maps editor must be an interface that works like a download client where players have full access to building maps from scratch by using elements like floors, walls, houses, building and many other features like DM, TDM, CTF and CP modes for building professional looking maps with different game modes.

I have also asked for a newspaper article to be created for the Map Editor so that more players can use the map editor for building their own custom maps and the benefits they offer.

Declined

Sorry this can't be done, because it could be abused easily.

The layout of maps define the speed of building up fund.

For an instance, it would take 1 day until we would face a lot of battles taking place in a plain field, where two flagpoints are right next to each other in the middle, enemies spawn all around them, tons of DP drop locations are around, but not a single DA. So the number of kills and flag captures would raise to the sky very fast and so will the fund. Of course there is no real "gameplay" behind this map any more.. what I sketched here is a pure grinding map. But it will lure many players out of real battles, because the chance for fast crystals is calling for them.

Too hard to implement. Even the map editor that the devs use is all outdated, glitchy and hard to use. Implementing it into the game would be stupid, while making a whole new user-friendly map editor would be too much effort, since very few players have the desire to spend ages making maps to play on.

My idea should not be declined. There should be a rule for making maps that works, just like the maps made by developers, so that players can play on balanced custom made maps.

"a rule for making maps that work" = someone has to take a look at it.

And as we talk about a large potential of crystals that could be made in those maps easily, this testers have to be very, very trustworthy people. So those are simply are very, very rare - or paid.

*facepalm* There is one and it's called Alternativa editor (got the spelling wrong). Sadly the devs have stopped accepting maps.

Except me  :P (and some other people)

seriously though, I am making a map

So the request for a map editor makes sense, as the current editor is.. well.. hmm... "not perfectly useful" may put it in calm words :)

So if this feature would ever come to life (which it won't) then it would make sense.

Anyways, good luck on your map creation

I would like Tanki Online to become a game where players can be creative. What I mean by being creative, is for players to go behind the creative scene and build their own cool maps, placing buildings, walls and supply drop zones to suit their gameplay style. Also that would make Tanki Online look and feel a bit different since everyday players always play on the same maps over and over again.

Its time for some change. Map building is my first priority to a more challenging and different Tanki Online experience. Lets be creative in Tanki Online.

So what makes you think that posting it again will give it any more chance of being accepted?

I have played many computer games in the past myself where this is a map builder editor and it makes the gameplay more interesting because you don't have to be forced to play in maps you don't like. You can create your own personal maps the way you like and make gameplay more challenging for you.

Lets have a map editor in Tanki Online. I want Tanki Online to move on and become more sophisticated.

The matchmaking system and HTML5 will bring Tanki Online to a whole new level. This will be the first step to a much better Tanki Online with more features.

Another thing Tanki Online needs to have to be more different as well is to have more game modes. One of them which I liked a lot is the Assault Mode.

Assault Mode should be in Tanki Online permanently as well as the Overdrive (Zero Supply Mode) feature.

We need a bigger, better, more challenging, more diverse Tanki Online.

I am not posting it again to force developers to accept it, but I want Tanki Online to give players the ability to create their own custom maps for making this game more diverse and different from the original gameplay that players play on the same maps over and over again, every day of the year, so we need to have change.

The only way to have change in maps it to have a map builder.

But again, what makes you think that posting it again will make "Tanki Online" give players this ability? The idea was declined because developers will NOT add this ability, therefore posting a new topic about it will NOT yield a different result.

I know and understand that.

Shall the HTML5 make Tanki Online run much faster?

HTML5 must be available to the PC version of Tanki Online, not just the mobile version.

To make this idea better,

How about there are set parameters for all the items.

For instance,

the flags have to be placed 50 meters apart...

The flags have to have a barrier between them.

There have to be at least 5 walls.

All spawn points must be 10 meters away.

Different teams spawn points must be at least 40 meters away. I.E... If blue is in the middle of stadium, red has to be at the sides.

Stuff like that would help make it harder to abuse the maps. Also, tanki could create a new job for map checker. :3

Yes. I agree with you. To stop abuse of map creation, it would be necessary to allow some restrictions on how far apart flags are, how many walls or buildings to allow. Good idea.

Parameters would be the following:

1. Flags placed at least 50 metres away.

2. At least one control point in CP mode on small to medium maps.

3. At least 5 walls, houses, buildings (obstacles).

4. All spawn points must be at least 10 metres away from each other.

5. Different teams spawn on either side of the maps, leaving the middle free.

Tanki Online developers should allow players to create their own maps and invite players to take part in real battles in them, (with the above restrictions), that I listed.
