Toggle auto-aim option in settings

Recommended Posts

An option to switch auto-aim off in settings (NOT a pro battles setting!! ONLY at the settings window where you can change controls, game graphics, etc... it will affect ONLY the player that chose to play without auto-aim, and regardless of what type of battle he joined)

That way players can have a more challenging and interesting gameplay, and improve their aiming skills in the process. I'm sure it would be fun for some players, and maybe players would even want to have whole battles with everyone playing without auto aim, I bet it will be a popular thing in XP/BP games where people love so much the word "skill".

I was thinking first about making it an alteration but having to buy the same alteration (especially that brings no advantage) on every turret separately is a bad idea.

Valid

Without a crosshair or scope it would only be amusing, rather than skillful. You'd end up with a bunch of players shooting each other point blanc and still missing due to the way shooting works in this game. I mean, you can create a battle, enable friendly fire, go on the same team with your friend and try to shoot each other - see how hard and annoying it will be.

it's a matter of learning how to swing your hull, not really that complicated. and as a parkourist I had enough shots without auto-aim to guarantee you it's not that hard after you train a bit. Obviously it will be difficult for the first time you'll try it, but for players who learn how want to take this challenge and learn how to aim without auto-aim it's a nice feature.

Lol, magnums don't need to worry about this, and neither do I, as I can utilize my thunders splash, my twins rate of fire, and my shafts scope. But railgun will have a difficult time. So will smoky.

This should be an option in Parkour, but there, Shaft should lose its crosshair and maybe the scope, because you don't need the scope to Parkour.

let me make it clear, it shouldn't be a pro battle setting but as a personal game setting that each player can turn on/off individually and it will affect only his tank and will not require a special battle to play without auto-aim. I'm talking about the settings window where you can change graphics and controls, it'll be somewhere there.

ok I see you misunderstood me and also added a "PRO battles" tag to this topic. I edited to make it clearer:

It's a good idea, a feature like that could be useful to players with good skills see how good they really are and it could also help them refine their aiming, but very few people will want to use this option in the game settings. Noobs could use it to try it and become useless in team battles, hurting their teams. And others could change the setting without understanding what it is and then complain that they can't kill.

I think as an option in Parkour and Clan will prevent the issues I mentioned above and also provide a good option to others.

Anyway, good luck with your idea.

Changed tags. I don't see why you'd want to have that feature personalised thought. It's making yourself intentionally weaker - very few players would want to try it, let alone use it on a regular basis.

As I said, for challenge and to develop aiming skills. I doubt long range fighters would use this, but for close and mid range it's awesome and not that hard :P

btw the easiest combo for no auto-aim would probably be wasp thunder, having a good swing and splash would make this combo as good in short/mid range as it would be with auto-aim, almost 0% misses due to bad aim. That can also make players even better with this combo because they will inevitably learn how to use their splash (something most players don't usually do when they have auto-aim) so you will end up seeing players doing better without auto-aim than players with the same combo that never played without auto-aim.

When you use this setting you don't necessarily care about what others use, it's a personal challenge (unless you organize a battle with some friends where everyone disable auto-aim)

I don't expect many players to use it on a regular basis, but I can assure you it'll be much more popular than friendly fire battles lol

Also can promote this feature by making a votw challenge of showing good gameplay with auto-aim switched off, throw a few words about skill and you'll have a bunch of players trying this feature.

But why make your life difficult when you can use auto-aim? It's like learning to drive a manual transmission in a world where all cars have automatic. Or using a screwdriver when you can easily just take a drill.

More like playing a game on "Hard" instead of "Easy" difficulty setting even though you can just choose "Easy" and have less things to worry about.
