full time campers rarely win matches in any mode

also in the flag capturing part, you forgot about overdrives

You don't always have overdrive ready or you don't have time to wait, and what about battles with OD off.

Fair point, campers will probably benefit more from repair kits than other players. They already do now, actually. Players who sneak behind the enemy base or know how to take cover will also benefit more from it than players who simply charge in the open against the enemy lines. But again, this is about playing style, not about any specific turret. Campers will benefit more from it simply because they get shot less than others. Whether their turret has splash damage or not has nothing to do with it.

Do you mean to say that going solo to capture the flag charging against the enemy lines in the open with double armour, double damage, and popping repair kit as soon as you're under heavy fire to get two seconds of invulnerability will not be possible anymore?

That's a welcome change in my opinion. At least, it should prompt players to think before throwing themselves in front of enemy fire.

Splash Damages will be interrupting a lot of repairs.

For attack I'll still use speed boost to get to the enemy faster, and then use supplies or overdrives to do damage. Only difference is I won't bother using RK while trying to get a flag / while under enemy fire. RK has to wait until I'm underway back to my base. Will it always work? No. Will it work as well as it does today? No. Will I adapt? But I'll adapt eventually.

I expect the change to be a net zero though. With Overdrives in the game permanently, one could take a flag using the Overdrive repair kit, and risk only getting a 50% heal, then use your supply repair kit a moment later, still risking another 50% heal, as you make your way to your home base. Worst case you get 50%+50%=100% healing. If you get lucky you still might be able to use the ful power of both RKs, depending on if/when you get hit.

Makes for more strategic play, which I like.

We already have a lot to think about during battle to secure a win, now we''ll also have to focus on when to use the nerfed supplies and OD.

The repair kit will still restore the same amount of hit points. It's the 'how' that will change: continuously over 2 seconds (now) vs one part instantly and another part over a couple of seconds (after).

It's that colored part which could be lost if you receive damage during that moment. The trick is to avoid that from happening when you use your repair kit.

and on maps where there simply isn't any cover to have the rest of your health regen what then?(noise for one with proliferation of magnums/strikers etc and other smaller maps?)

enemies dont have cover either and their repair kits are nerfed too, so its balanced

noise is unbalanced, and removed from non-pro, so you can't complain about that

Meh, maybe it will maybe it won't. I tend to think more like LittleWillie on that. Interrupting a repair kit will be a rather chancy thing. Besides, I don't get all that much splash damage in a battle anyway.

I have weapons with splash damage (mains) and I'm already thinking the possibilities, I'll be shooting everywhere there's a fight, that way I help a team mate and if the enemy uses a RK I'll be interrupting the repair. Polygon CP will be fun, I'll only join winning teams, mine my spot and use DA and DD.

The thing is that I don't always like to join winning teams and I like using other turrets too... it will be harder now.

Depends on the battle.

Count on lots of 'wasted' (cut short) repair kits on heated death matches, including TDM. Sure - splash damage will cause a fair number of them.

CP and CTF battles will see this happen less often and focused at the flag and capture points.

What will be the point of maps like Highways now. We will activate the supplies when leaving our base and once we will be in enemy base, no more supplies, even if we use the drops. And what about stealing the base and going back to our base? Almost impossible with all the shafts and rails.

I agree with this.

Highways map should be removed from non-pro because it favours only long range turrets.

No cool-down on using supplies after activating Overdrive?

You could use your own RK first and then the overdrive later.

I think this update will result in more balance changes as short range weapons will find themselves a bit UP, because they rely on RK to get close to enemies. Gotta postpone making purchases, and first assess which turret to go for.

1) that's what I thought - wasn't sure if they changed that.

2) Guess only UP on larger maps... they now have to use some tactics instead of freeze/twins charging forward and arriving full health.

Long-range turrets should have an advantage with distance involved.

Stealing the flag?

Good point though. Impact to maps seems to be dead last on the list of considerations when making changes.

Then again, I never much liked Highways, Monte Carlo, or Brest anyway. Long range play is just not my style.

New rule: To become and stay a helper, you must abstain from all forms of joy. And thus you are not allowed to be last non-cm, or second last or anything like that which makes you feel happy. You do feel happy, even if you deny that.

I am second last, a.k.a last person who isn't a CM  B)
