Valid Countdown timer in drop box location

Please add a count down timer in dropbox location that show's how many secs till

Next drop.

 

Sandbox dm is my favorite map/ mode in tanki, also i take control of dropbox zones,

i find it very hard to keep track of the time the next drop box will fall when i die and someone takes

The boxes i am aiming for.

I swear I've seen this idea before, or seen it implemented in another game. Or maybe thought of it myself and didn't post. I like it - drop boxes would be more predictable and would have better potential for tactical usage.

This idea is perfect. It allows me to choose which supply I should use first and and what time I should advance towards the flag.

The dominating team or player will take control of drop box's regardless of having a timer or not.

No. With this idea a player of the dominating team doesn't have to wait at the drop box location, the player can just check the timer and go check the other location, all that to time the catches more effectively.

but you are forgetting that there are many drop box's on many maps, so there is an added effort of tracking 

The time , plus if the box is about to drop he doesn't need the timer anyway since he can see it dropping

This is for longer than 20 secs wait time.

Well, it might eliminate "gold was", "admin gold pls". But then on the other hand, the gold diggers will come to battle, see that there is 30 seconds until the gold box drop. Gold Digger mults for 30 seconds, tries for the GB and leaves. 

 

However, there could be some good strategy to this. Countdown timer says 1 minute and those who regularly try for the gold box will be hanging around the drop zones, especially as the timer gets closer to 0. That may give a losing team more of an advantage. Just hide until the base is empty and go for a score. The timer could be the losing team's best friend.

Well each gold box drop zone might have it's own timer Or maybe no timer for gold if this is going to complicate it.

How about this...The timer would be for the auto drops only. Players dropping GB wouldn't affect the timer. GB droppers could regulate their timing according to the auto drop. There have been a few times when I tried to drop a box, but it wouldn't drop, then the siren sounded. I tried to drop a box at the same time as the auto drop, that didn't work either. Then I tried dropping one just after the auto drop. Nope, didn't work. I had to wait a few seconds after the auto drop. With a timer, I could drop one a few seconds before the auto drop. I'm not talking strategy, here, though it could be used as such. If it's a good battle with lots of teamwork on both sides, I'll drop one.

I think this might cause lots of camping...especially for box missions.  I would not like to see this idea implemented.

i understand your concern but this feature is helpful for active players who simply can't keep track of time of every box because

They are busy playing on the other hand this feature will not add much to campers for box missions since they are already

focused on tracking time for there box's to drop.

It would be so awful to have noobs, who are completing box missions without playing, take every single box and leave nothing for the actual players. And no, even if they keep track they can't take every single one if there aren't any timers.

Not only missions, but Gold Hunters (Diggers), too.  They come into the game and ask "gold was." If no one answers, they may stay for a while, but with a timer, they'll see it just dropped and leave or if it's about to drop. they'll be inactive until it drops and then leave.

Okay, I was thinking the timer would be located at the top of the screen. But now I'm a bit confused. Are you saying the timer would start, say 30 seconds before the drop in the drop zone? Right now, we don't know where the drop zone is until the siren sounds. Personally, I think Tanki could do away with the siren and just let it drop. That's the way it was when the gold boxes were first introduced into the game.

yes timer for supplies is at there drop zone and timer for gold will only appear at it's drop zone when it appears on the map also

I went back and read your original post again. Yes, it does say supplies. I don't know how I got on the Gold Box kick, though it is considered a supply, too.
