I have a brilliant idea that will solve the problem for non-buyer players.

 

For promo codes, there must be a new daily mission that is just as rare as super mission, but, which players can claim a promo code to be used only once to buy crystals, supplies and premium accounts from the Tanki Online shop.

 

When the player completes and claims his promo code, the promo code will be available in his garage and can be used only once. Once the promo code has been used, the promo code will be removed from the garage and the player will earn his reward.

 

Please tell me what you think, and help me further improve my idea if I am wrong.

This was suggested in the stream and devs said that it's pointless. A promo code is just something you can use to give yourself a reward. They are useful for when, say, a popular youtuber wants to promote tanki, so he gets promo codes from the devs and does a contest or giveaway, where he gives the codes to players and they can easily claim the reward.

 

Getting them from missions is extremely inefficient because all it means is that instead of clicking a single button to claim the reward, the player needs to write down the code, open the shop, scroll down, open the promo code window, type in the code without mistakes and only then claim the reward. You see the problem here?

Not really. A promo code doesn't subtract crystals from your account. It's a whole separate reward. It's like completing a super mission and letting someone else (your friend, your alt, etc.) claim the big reward. Rather pointless if you ask me, since why would you want to complete a super mission only to give your reward away to someone else.

They said in the RU stream that they can give away those codes to whomever they like. Youtubers are a great source of promotion for tanki, as they bring new players (their viewers) into the game. Because of that, Tanki is willing to support some of them. Before promo codes if a youtuber wanted to do some kind of contest, he would have to awkwardly ask the winners of that contest for their details so that he would be able to buy crystals for them manually. Either that, or ask devs to add crystals to the player's account.

 

After promo codes, the youtuber can just come to the devs, tell them that he's doing a contest, and devs may give him a few codes to give away to the winners. The youtuber simply tells the code to the winner in PM and the winner goes and uses it to claim the reward. Fast and simple!

 

Devs could also use these codes as rewards or giveaways in offline events (such as game conventions) - simply give a code to a person and they can go home and use it on their account.

 

As for requirements - devs themselves will decide what kind of youtuber qualifies to get these codes (as well as how many and how often). It all depends on number of subscribers and views, but also quality of content, the amount of swearing in videos (preferably none), the quality of contests and giveaways, general attitude towards the game in the videos, etc.

I'm not sure how the newspaper distributes rewards at the moment, but yes, they could send out promo codes via forum PMs.

That's not how promo codes work. You just use them to get rewards straight into your garage. And that's the same as completing a normal mission - you press "Claim reward" and it goes straight into your garage.
