I don't know, I feel that this would turn Smoky into a mini-Railgun. If it needs to be nerfed, there's better ways to do that. Adding a delay would make Smoky very frustrating to use, while having traceable rounds would ruin Smoky's unique stealth tactic where you can shoot at someone without being noticed.

Nope, a 1.1 second delay is a long time in a battle where every second counts. It would then have the damage out-put of a Thunder with half the damage. It would also lead to missing shots often on light hulls.

Anyway, I think this idea would make smoky interesting instead of a turret that you can just lay a brick on the space bar.

I think you've confused smoky with twins...

Smoky was a strong turret before the supply update, but now it is really OP. It can beat any turret in the game, the only turret that can beat smoky is another smoky. It doesn't have any real disadvantages except range, and not very many protections against it are available. So I really think this turret needs a nerf before players can figure it out. And I know a few things to make it interesting and skillful.

First we will start off with a delay that will occur before it fires the actual shot, which can be seen as the barrel releasing smoke into the air by other players in battle. It would take 1.1 seconds to fire the shot after tapping the space bar, like railgun.

And second after firing the shot, a small trail of smoky will follow it, which will hang in the air for only half a split second, and then vanishes. If other players follow that trail, they would find the smoky that fired that shot, but they would have to be fast.

Anyway, I think this idea would make smoky interesting instead of a turret that you can just lay a brick on the space bar.

First smoky is not the most powerful turret after this update occured, it is Vulcan/Twins. Second there are many protections against smoky but it is because you are a low rank and spend most your time complaining on the forum you do not get experience points and rank up. That defies the sole purpose of smoky which is to be a quick and rapid firing turret with a critical damage as an advantage.

The delay to fire will be frustrating, a better way to do it would be to make the fired projectile take time, very short time, to reach it's target and some smoke following that projectile.

Then some damage boost and reduce the critical damage after it's maximum damage range.

And maybe add some splash damage like twins.

Ahhh... I can see that your an inexperienced tanker. No tankers in the world would go close up to a smoky as its damage in range would increase and would hit maximum damage. Smoky does not need a buff but that is your opinion. I see in your profile that you barely use smoky so what you have said does not relate to any experience that have occured to you within the game.

Its too bad they separated the crits and impact into two different alterations - the M1 alt overrides the crit from the M2 alt. It does not seem the M1 impact alt is noticeable at all.

I don't see twins a whole lot in battles, so I'm not worried about it. But I do see smoky at least once in every battle that I have been in, and I'm afraid that it won't be any different in the high ranks.

Well then why not give it 20% increase in impact force, 5% buff in base damage, and a 15% buff in critical damage to compensate?

Because it's not necessary. Smoky is fine as it is and such massive changes will do no good for anyone.

Was referring to the Brick.    Buy twins.  Buy brick. Place brick on spacebar. drive around (and maybe rotate turret)...

Smoky is hardly OP - good overall but not the best in any specific range.  Isida/Fire/Freeze better up close.  Hammer Twins Ricco often bests it at short/medium range.  Thunder/Rail/Magnum/Shaft all better at long range as smoky has a lousy 10% "weak" damage.

Curious though why you think it is OP after the update.

Update(s) did following to smoky...

- Increased re-load time

- less critical damage

- constant chance for critical all M-levels

- less minimum damage

- more maximum damage

- Less Impact (one of it's core characteristics)

- Increased re-load time (again)

- decreased % for critical M-levels 0-1-2

- critical damage constant over distance

Consensus among Smoky users is that it was overall nerfed.

You would have absolutely hated Smoky pre-update. ;)

Back to the topic, I think that the proposed changes would make Smoky too much like Railgun, which would change its gameplay a lot.
I don't think this is needed or desirable.

I use Smokey on one of my other accounts. I don't think it really needs to be changed, although, some splash would be nice.

It's the only stealth weapon in the game...it can be effective from a distance, midrange and short range. It has no tracers and you can't see the bullet flying through the air. (Sometimes I refer to it as a BB Gun). I think it's the most underestimated weapon because it's the fastest shooting single barrel weapon and can do a goodly amount of damage without supplies once it's M2. (IMO). Too bad the Crit got nerfed.

Not everyone here is an Englishman. We do read books, but in other languages. I suggest that you understand the background of certain people and stop criticising everyone.

Calm down, I am just helping you with your grammar.

Smoky is fine now. It's not exaclty easy to hit all you're targets all the time. And no splash damage meaning you have to get pinpoint each time. Plus it being a fast paced turret you really need to be quick with your aiming. So I don't think it needs a buff or a nerf.

You are absolutely correct but I'm going to have to say its biased since after all you use smoky :3
