Individual Battle Scores

Recommended Posts

I guess I don't understand how the battle scores are calculated. I read it has to do with the amount of battle involvement. Or something like that.

I've noticed that the more you die, the higher your score. I usually don't have any supplies with me, so I have to use skill or do a lot of "peek-a-boo." I use Shaft/Dictator.

I just got out of battle....TDM.....Chernobyl. I came in late about the middle of the battle. I had 20 kills and 3 deaths. I was towards the bottom of the list. The leader had 18 kills and 10 deaths. How was his score so much better than mine?

I've seen other Shaft users just sit out in the open, get one or two shotted, come back and get killed some more. I hide while my turret reloads, peek around corners or walls. When I see the enemy, I come out and make the shot, then go back in hiding until I reload. A lot of the other Shaft users don't do that. They have lower kills than me and more deaths. So how is that better? Depending on the map and the number of players, I can get 25 kills and 1 to 4 deaths.

To test out my theory, last week I was using my usual technique and constantly getting low scores. So I went into a battle, got a few kills under my belt, then went out in the middle of the battle and acted like I had no sense at all. Died a lot of times. Then I went back to my technique got a few more kills and got a decent score.

How is that fair?

Score is based on damage dealt. Peope that kill steal get othing good. They get 1 score and other people divide 14.

I try not to do that. but if I see that my teammate is being overrun or can't make his kill (gets killed himself) then I'll take the kill. Sometimes one or two will come up against someone who has fully upgraded hull and turret and can't seem to make the kill. So, I help a little. As a rule, I'll pick a fresh kill.

Score can be increased using a number of ways, but mostly by destroying enemy tanks.

  • In DM mode, score isn't shown and instead the main progress counter is kills. The player with most kills wins. However, you still get experience added to your total (the green bar on top) from the tanks you kill - 10 EXP per kill.
  • In TDM mode you get score for either killing, or assisting in killing an enemy tank. If you kill an enemy on your own, you get 10 score. If you kill an enemy together with your teammate(s), then you will get 15 points divided between you based on the % of damage each of you dealt. This means that you can potentially get more points, because if you deal 99% of the damage to an enemy and someone else finishes them off with one hit, then you can get 14 points for that kill.
  • In CP you increase your score by capturing points. The less teammates there are on a point with you, the more score you get for every point you take. Plus, there are also 10 points per kill or 15 shared if multiple players shot and killed the same tank, same as in TDM.
  • In CTF there is also experience for actions with the flag. You get points for capturing, as well as returning, plus if you kill the player that was holding your flag, you get double points for that kill (20 by default and potentially more with help of a teammate). The most points goes for flag capturing - if you capture a flag on your own from enemy base to your own base, you get the amount of points that's the same as destroying every enemy tank once, or number of enemies x10. So if there are 7 enemy players, you get 70 exp for capturing a flag. And again, you get score for kills, same as in TDM and CP.
  • You can also increase your score by healing teammates, only when you play with Isida.

So you were mistaken - your score does not increase faster when you die a lot. You also don't get a higher reward if you have very few deaths in a battle. What most likely happened in that Chernobyl TDM game is that you were finishing off very damaged players and not getting that much score for that, while the player in first place didn't get many kills, but was dealing a lot of damage.

Also note that there is a -5 penalty to your score for every time you self-destruct.

You get score for kills, shared kills, captured flags, assisted captured flags, captures points, healing teammates and such. The more of these you can do, the more you earn. Capturing flags gives you a 50 score boost I think. So, if the top player makes kills and captures flags, they get more score.

5 kills = 50 score

2 kills plus flag capture = 70 score (if it's 50 score per flag)

To build on maf post:

In CP: Turning from ennemi color to neutral, give you less point than from neutral to your team color. The CP needs to be activated to get the point from the turn over otherwise it consider still to be in neutral position.

in CTF: returning the flag near you base give you little <10. While if you return it near the enemy base give you much more, above 10. It's difficult to tell because it seem that there is different factors at play (maybe the time it stay alone, the distance, the number of player,..). Therefore there is no need to rush, or fight against your teammate, to return the flag if still in the vicinity of the base, you should focus on killing the flag bearer.

Thank you for explaining all that to me.

Since that account doesn't have many supplies or none at all, then it's more of a team support unit. In CFT, the Dictator is a large tank and an easy target. I try to get walls, hills, buildings, etc between me and the enemy, but my tailpipe sticks out. So I leave the flag to the smaller, faster tanks. But I'll go with the team and kill enemy tanks following our flag bearer.

In CP, I look mostly for enemy tanks that are trying to change CP. I'll go after them and change it back. I'm more active in CP and actively help the team changing the CPs.

In TDM, I'll go for anything out in the open.

There have been times when I'v been 1v1 with a tank and had trouble killing it. I know there are my team mates nearby and wonder why they don't help me with the kill. But after I die, then they come in for the kill. I guess that's because either they want me to get as much as possible out of the kill attempt or they're not interested because it's not a fresh kill and would be less points.
