Complex Modifications

Recommended Posts

I believe each hull and turret should have unlockable modifications classified into 3 different categories. In each category a player can select a modification. For example a Turret can have modifications for its: Barrel, Frame, Ammunition, and Mechanism. A Barrel modification effects one of the turrets Recoil, Damage, Special, or Noise stats. A Frame modification effects the stats of Traverse speed and damage dealt to the player. An Ammunition Modification effects the damage, effect, range, capacity, or noise of a projectile. A mechanism modification effects one of the turret's special aspects by improving it. Each modification is earned by spending crystals, reaching certain ranks, or having a specific modification [M0,M1,M2,M3] of the turret itself.

For Example Smoky:

Modifications for Barrel:

Muzzle Booster: Decreases damage drop over distance by 10%

Suppressor: Reduces gun noise by 75% and eliminates Muzzle flash. Reduces maximum damage by 10%

Long Barrel: Increases chance of critical damage by 5%

Modifications for Shell:

High Velocity: Increases minimal and maximum damage by 10% trade off is a 2% reduction in chance of critical

High Explosive: Shells deal moderate. Explosive damage to tanks very close to shell impact. Trade off is shells cannot deal critical hits.

Armor Piercing Composite rigid shells: Eliminates damage drop with distance, all shells you fire with do half of the maximum damage.

Modifications for Frame:

Reinforced Turret Frame: Reduces Hit Point damage to player when hit in Turret by 10%. Also Reduces turret traverse speed by 10%

Lightweight Frame: Increases turret traverse speed by 10%. Also increase damage dealt to player when hit in turret by 10%

Modifications for Internal Mechanism:

Improved Loading System: Reduces loading time by 15%

Enhanced recoil management: Reduces gun kick by 35%

Experimental Targeting Card: Doubles critical chance

Hulls can also Have Modifications to Their Suspension, Frame, Engine, and Unique Resistance.

For example Wasp:

Modifications for Suspension:

Shock Absorbing Suspension: Reduces hull movement caused by enemy fire by 20%

Improved Suspension: Makes pushing the hull harder to do for enemies by having a better grip on the ground.

Modifications for Frame:

Aluminum Wasp Frame : Increases top speed by 20%. Trade off in 30% increase in hull movement caused by enemy fire.

Steel Wasp Frame: Increases vehicle HP by 25%. Trade off in 20% reduction of hull speed.

Titanium Wasp Frame: Increases vehicle HP by 10% and Increases hull speed by 5%

Modifications for Engine:

Wasp Engine Modification No.1: Improves the hull's ability to push other tanks.

Wasp Engine Modification No.2: Improves the hull's top speed by 5%

Wasp Engine Modification No.3: Improves the hull's ability to rotate by 5%

Modification for Unique Resistance:

Vanadium Lining: Makes Hull take twice as long to hear up as a result of burning, while taking the normal time to cool down.

Bronze Layering: Reduces damage dealt to hull by railgun by 10%

Kapton Polyimide Insulator: Makes hull take twice as long to slow down as an effect of freezing, while taking the normal time to heat back up.

The effects of modules also interact with each other by addition and subtraction. For example if a player has

Steel Wasp Frame and Wasp Engine Modification No.2:

Steel Wasp Frame decreases Hull speed by 20%

Wasp Engine Modification No.2 increases Hull speed by 5%

All non-Hull Speed changes are kept the same by Hull speed decrease is now 15%

((-20%) + (5%)=(-15%))

I understand that you put a lot of thought into this, but unfortunately it doesn't fit in with Tanki Online. For turrets we already have Alterations, which are pretty much what you suggest, while for hulls there will be unique Overdrives soon. There's also Micro-Upgrades, which are a simplified version of what you suggest.

Either way, adding something that gives an advantage for crystals will generate a very negative response from players, as there would be a lot of complains from players saying that the game is becoming "Pay-to-win", since you can just make your tank stronger for money.

Each modification can be earned by spending crystals, reaching certain ranks, OR having a specific modification [M0,M1,M2,M3] of the turret itself. ...

Yep, earning ranks is so pay to play it's mindblowing just wow.

OK, I guess I missed that part, but it doesn't change the fact that this idea is almost identical to the existing Alterations we already have. As for hulls - developers said that there will not be any alterations for them.
