Declined Map Editor - Create your own map for Holidays, Sales and eSports

Many times, I have created posts suggesting to have players create their own maps to play in real battles on server, but my ideas were declined.

 

This time, I will suggest this in a more suitable way which will work better in Tanki Online.

 

My suggestion is for the developers to create a server which can only be accessed during holidays, sales and eSports events. On this server, players take the role of developing and creating their own maps to upload on the server and play battles like usual, but with custom user made maps.

 

When the holidays, sales and eSports events finish, the server will be automatically closed and all maps that players created will be automatically removed and deleted permanentally.

 

The reason why I am suggesting this is because I want Tanki Online to look and feel different from the normal days of the year, where players play Tanki Online in a normal way.

 

Please tell me if you like my idea, and if there are more ideas on maps to implement in such a way that will be acceptable for Tanki Online, please let me know in the comments below.

It's a great idea, but unfortunately it won't be implemented in Tanki. I can guarantee you that. Custom maps are good as a concept for a whole separate new game that would have its main focus set on custom maps set by players. In fact, I'm sure such games already exist. But the main problem is that in a 3D game like Tanki Online it's extremely hard to make a good map. Even in a game like Minecraft where making custom terrain seems to be as simple as it can get, it's still quite hard and time-consuming to create a good custom map.

 

And I can tell you that almost all players come to Tanki just to play some quick battles, rather than to sit here for hours learning and using some custom map-making feature. It's just not worth spending a whole lot of time and resources developing such a server, since it would have very low demand.

 

Like I said in your previous topics - Tanki already has 77 maps for you to play on. I think that's more than enough variety for now.

i dont mind having a tournament for this

My suggestion was only to have such custom maps in the custom map making server during holidays, sales and eSport events.
