Viewing profiles while making a post

Recommended Posts

There have been times I wanted to view someone's profile while making a post in the forum to make sure I have my facts straight before posting. In order to do that, I have to open a new tab or go to another browser, log into the game, go to profiles and type in that player's nickname.

If I click on a player's profile from the forum before posting, I come back and my post is gone.

Just for clarification purposes, let's take this true scenario:

A player had asked a question about a Turret/Hull combo. I clicked on "Quote" and  started to answer that question, but then decided I had better check his profile, before hitting the "Post" button, to see if he has had any experience with that combo. By the way he worded it, I assumed either he didn't have that combo, or had very little experience using it.

I clicked on his nickname, which brought up his personal information. I clicked on profile, which opened a new tab, and saw that he indeed had a lot of experience with both turret and hull. So I didn't understand why he was asking the question.

I closed the tab, which brought me back to his personal information page. I clicked on the back button and found my post missing.

My suggestion is to be able to do the above example without losing your comment before posting it, or having to open a new tab or new browser, log into the game, click on your own profile, then type in the other player's nickname.

First of all, to check someone's in-game profile, you just need to click on "Profile" under their nickname and post count, on any one of their posts: http://tnkscr.net/yZh3xE.png

And when you click it, make sure you open the page in a new tab, so either right-click and select "Open in new tab", or middle-click the link (which usually opens it in a new tab).

Even if you were doing it the way you said, i.e. first going to the player's forum profile and then to the in-game profile, then you simply needed to open the profile in a new tab or window to make sure that the page where you were typing up your post doesn't go away.

Also, if you do happen to lose the page with your post, there is sometimes an auto save option in the corner, so you can recover at least part of your post: http://tnkscr.net/4DwITY.png. With all these things being available, your suggestion isn't necessary.

Idea invalid. Closed.
