How someone can love math ?!

as a parent of three teenagers / adults . I personal feel school only gives you a bit of education that is needed you need to learn way more ..

 

such as / cooking  food to eat / learning to handle money, setting up a bank account  / shopping on what to buy and which sales would benefit you the most for your buck / banking and investing for your future / basic house hold chores ( laundry , dishes ) / learning the transit system ( if you never had t use one in the past ) / dealing with bills and paying them / basically standard life skills( sewing a button to hemming pants ,doing the garbage system weekly , how to maintain a car or filling it up at a gas station ) .

 

not to forget out to apply for a job and how to do the job , not all can be learned in school . sure parents are they to teach u but not all have parents who can be there to help teach them the basic's .. and helping to make the right choices for your futures ..

1st vid: you want to live like the Wild West huh? No country protection? Idio*s with guns everywhere? You have to defend yourself? Or be a country, pay for its roads. Most of us don't want just food, water and land, we want luxury, so we study, then we work hard. How to become a scientist? Need to know math, science, English. Not just 1 subject. Some people do get paid to go explore (Bear Grills) some explore the universe (NASA, space companies)) so go ahead if you want to explore, but you need to be daring, and smart (especially for NASA)this had nothing to do with school

To vote? You look it up, why do billions of people in the country know?. You want to learn laws? Study law school and you'll know. If you want a certain law, talk to your local police or lawyer, you have no excuse for breaking a law.

You just don't get it do you? Why should I have to break my mind inside out, while school's already doing just that, just so I can learn my human rights, so I can learn the laws - cause you know it's common sense to NOT murder somebody, but what about copyright laws? Not important go and learn some Shakespeare. Your rights with a police? Nah...    Gotta figure out this Pythagoras theorem, which by the way my Mom worked at a bank and NOT ONCE did she use any of that in her life. And pls just tell me now your trolling..  And explore the Universe? LOL, dude if there are any other life forms out there, I consider them all lucky if they've never been in contact with humans. I mean species going extinct, killing because we can NOT cause we have to, teaching wrong is right, and now look at this wonderful world where killing our own kind is the norm along with billions of starving despite how much food we have.  If you don't think the educational system is back then I give up...  If you can't see it, then just WOW...

don't get me wrong there are many things a school system can give u , such as teaching you how to read or write / learning to work as a team player with others / making friends / math / science / and so much more .

 

you can't get a job if you don't know how to read the form your applying for or how to fill it out , even the basic's of spelling your name or street ( what would happen if you got lost and could not say where you lived or wrote it down to get directions ) there are things in school that on  a job that can  help you get work . such as wood working / auto machinist   /  electrician / computers .. many other fields ..

 

so you can look at both sides the pros and cons for them ..they both even out in the long run..

well there are sales and then there scams , did you know that. first there are sales on regular normal items we buy daily but also there are flash sales (I call them ) but the packaging size is reduce to make you think your getting a deal but really you paying for the item more then what the regular size would be

 

say you buy a box of Popsicle"s  for $2.00 and it contains say 10 per box . but there is a flash sale which contains 6  for $ 1.00 most would go for the $1.00 item thinking it was better in price but really your loosing the weight or the amount of item. also there are pro's to this sale if the item your looking into buying has more and cost less but the other regular item has less but cost more , it would be cheaper to buy the lower price but receive more volume or weight for the cost you would have normally paid for it .. such as a item with 8 in a box sold for a $1.00 but regular price its 12 for $2.00 . if you buy it on sale but got 2 boxs for the cost of $2.00 but in the end the item you get would be 16 pieces so you gain 4 extra .

 

so its a buyer beware on shopping .this is how company's trick the consumer's . or when you see a item on sale in a fitness center there are loop holes in the fine print that your locked in for a year with the fitness center or your billed every month for a year on credit card and its hard to cancel the contract with company's ..

 

you need to read the fine print so your not caught off guard on these things ..

It's because school is a bad place. And don't mix education and school up, they're not the same thing, despite what you've been taught. Ok let me be more clear. HIGHSCHOOL IS THE WASTE OF TIME!! Highschool is the waste. I like the idea of school, being taught how to read and write, but at the end that's really all I get from it. Do you NOT understand learning what happended in the past has nothing to do with the future?? Do you understand that Pythagoras theorem, Co-sine will most likely never be use to at least 90% of people, yet it's forced on to us like there's no tomorrow!! Dude I really hope you don't mean what you're saying. And in English... Tell me, what Shakespeare has to do with modern day language. Tell me!! Cause while we're wasting our time doing that we could be learning ACTUAL ENGLISH... Wow.. genius isn't it? 

And let's discuss the teachers. My teachers, and I speak for MYSELF do the bear minimum. ''Take out your textbooks and open to page 24. Answer all questions.''  That's the entire lesson. If you don't think something's wrong with that that I'm done. Anybody who thinks the current educational system isn't a joke, is either stupid or lying. Let me guess, what we eat in burgers are healthy right, xD? lol you fail to tell me one way any lessons could benefit adult life (Highschool, or at least late middle school!! mmkay?)

What do you want to be when you grow up

it depends on what you want to do in your future . look at what your grades are and what subjects you enjoy the most then base it on that .. say your good in science well theres lots of jobs in that field and depending on how far or much education you want you can be anything . such  as chemist in drug store which has more education then a normal DR . or a dentist , the field is wide open . pm me in  private if want some advise .

I agree, they do need to fix the school system. Teachers assign 2 hours of homework each night, and with extra circular classes, you go to bed at 2am. Then wake up 4 hours later, and repeat. It's like they want you to fail the class. If your healthy, your failing, if your passing, you sleep too little. School is important, but people want to have fun, if you have no time to have fun, we go crazy (I do). I can't do anything to help this world, because we have to many idi*ts rolling around, not caring about the planet, anti science, terrorsists. Which is why I need to pass this life, and live another

Should I laugh or cry? You used the maths stuff in homework ONLY. But let me tell you what you would have used if they would have taught it:

Laws of the country - Less crimes, you'd know how to sue, how to not get sued and you'd know the laws so you wouldn't break them.

How to handle money - Goes without saying this is what maths should be about. Knowing how to handle money, how to save up all that financial advice. 

Basic first aid - You should know basic first aid, in case anything major happens. Death as distance as it may seem is all around us. 

How to get a job - Know idea how to get a job. So how am I gonna work? 

How to pay Tax - So everybody has to pay tax, yet it's not important enough to know how to? You get arrested if you don't pay!! Government needs to sober up for once and change this stupid school system! 

Environmental health - too many people litter. They should be taught the consequences for littering and how to stop it. 

How to rent/buy a house.

And as you said opening one page and answering a few questions is dumb. You don't need teachers for that. Yet you basically described 90% of my teachers, and they see no problem, family sees no problem, and then for some reason I know have to take a test to get a piece of paper that says A+. Even though most of the things I learn are completely irrelevant to me. And school inspections are the worst. They need to stop telling teachers when they come. Each time there's an inspector the teacher will spend 4 hours preparing a lesson when on normal lessons they'd spend barely 5. And seeing as my school claims to have high standards and is a 4 out pf 5 star school it saddens me that the bathrooms are horrific. I'm not talking public bathrooms, I'm talking bathrooms so unclean that you'd get nightmares just going in. I know for a fact when I leave Highschool I'm not gonna miss it.

Well knowing how to get a job is useless unless you know how to do the job. I even know how you get a job and I'm still in high school.

Laws? Law school no complaints. And if you break a rule, it's obvious. "I didn't know you weren't allowed to kill someone!" "You can t steal from people?" "100 mph should not be illegal" "drug cartels should be legalized"

How you can survive without basic trigonometry is beyond me. It is applicable EVERYWHERE (video games included). Fields in computer science are only increasing. I can't comment on your observations of your teachers, because not everyone in the world has it the same way you do. Perhaps it really is terrible where you are. Also, you are sooo wrong when you say what happened in the past has nothing to do with the future. What happened 70 years ago doesn't matter right? America should invade North Korea again, right? Take the Russia as an example. The generation born after USSR collapsed is very different from the generation who was born during it.

Somehow billions of people have been able to figure all these things out without learning them in school. I don't see why this is such a problem. Are you paying taxes at 16? I think not. Besides, how much time can you spend learning these things? A month at most? I guess learning how to file taxes and buying a house is something that warrants 4 years of education?
