How you can survive without basic trigonometry is beyond me. It is applicable EVERYWHERE (video games included). Fields in computer science are only increasing. I can't comment on your observations of your teachers, because not everyone in the world has it the same way you do. Perhaps it really is terrible where you are. Also, you are sooo wrong when you say what happened in the past has nothing to do with the future. What happened 70 years ago doesn't matter right? America should invade North Korea again, right? Take the Russia as an example. The generation born after USSR collapsed is very different from the generation who was born during it.

Somehow billions of people have been able to figure all these things out without learning them in school. I don't see why this is such a problem. Are you paying taxes at 16? I think not. Besides, how much time can you spend learning these things? A month at most? I guess learning how to file taxes and buying a house is something that warrants 4 years of education?

Exactly!

(But seriously where do you learn that ?

Oh yeah! Maths is rocking it!!

Heck is "Food Tech" though?

It's where you learn to cook. Please tell me your school at least teaches you how to cook... Come on!!

I am somewhat of an autodidact, so I naturally find school pointless in the aspect of learning. Plus, the school I go to is substandard. IMO, I think public schools are just meant to make the state/government look good (based on how classes are taught). College on the other hand is something I am looking forward to.

It's all down to the school you're in and your environment. I got lucky. I'm having the time of my life in school right now.

So you say billions of people happen to know this info?

Billions of people are starving.

Thousands are homeless.

School kills the will and creativity in students.

Surrender to authority. Don't EVER question the teacher.

What the teacher says is ALWAYS right if you ask the teacher why? Then detention.

Many people are uneducated in the world (Don't take any offense but your posts suggest....     yeah..)

NOT TAUGHT anything about Politics yet expected to Vote.

Like, dude are you seriously believing school is in any way helpful? Many students get BULLIED they get DEPRESSED develop ANXIETY because of the pressure and toxic environment.

We work for hours in school and if we don't learn there then how is homework gonna help? Some schools even have school uniform, which just disrupts learning.

How old are you? To believe in something so much without questioning it. That's called blind fate. Blindly following the footsteps of others, right or wrong. But you probably don't understand or care...

Dang, what kind of school did you go to?

In what way do uniforms disrupt learning exactly? Or are you pulling all that out of your rear?

School kills the will and creativity in students.

Not having school kills any chance of making a decent living.

Just because your time in school wasn't all that great, doesn't automatically mean it's a waste of time for everyone else. You just had the wrong teachers, wrong classmates, and overall wrong environment. Oh well, educational systems in other countries may differ so I may never be able to fully relate with you.

Generally, that would be accurate, but is not always the case. Think investors, entrepreneurs, oil rig workers (experienced)  etc.

I'm still in school. It's a terrible school. You'd hate it if you were there trust me. And I'll tell you how Uniforms disrupt learning:

First, teachers will happily stop the lesson because apparently what we wear and how we wear it is more important than our future. My school, we have teachers coming in and stopping the lesson for 5 to 10 minutes almost everyday to check if people have shirt's tucked all the way in, top buttons have to be done up, and to see if our tie's are long enough. They do that JUST TO GIVE US DETENTIONS!! With no school uniforms none of that would happen. Oh but there's more, on school uniform. In winter, it's so DAMN COLD, in summer it feels like we're gonna pass out. How are we supposed to ''learn'' when we can't even concentrate?! The school just wants to make us look smart!!

On to the next, school skills...   Let me just tell you what I don't know first:

I have no idea how to get a job, pay bills, pay tax, how to use a bank account, how to create a bank account, how PayPal works, how any online credit/debit works. How to pay rent, how to buy a house, where to pay for a house, my OWN human rights, the laws of the country I live in, nothing about politics so have NO CLUE WHATSOVEVR who I'm voting for...    How to even change policies.    And those are just the basics of adult life. But hey, at least I know how medicine worked back in the day before I was born :) Or how Shakespeare wrote plays, because modern English can wait right  Or what about all that algebra stuff? Hmm....   That's mad.

Most of those you should be learning for yourself or from those around you; that's why they are called life lessons. You need to understand the past in order to make a significant difference in the future and even if you don't want to contribute to change, you need to know the past due to history repeating itself (which technically makes it future). They teach us Shakespeare, because it helps us learn to 'read between the lines' and has profound meaning which sparks a creative thinking process. Modern English is very structural and you only need a halfway decent knowledge of it to get by. Algebra is taught due to it's daily applicability and the need to use concrete logic to solve abstract problems. Uniforms are enforced in the hope that you will take things seriously as it will require discipline and attention to detail.

Most of the things I should be learning in SCHOOL. It's supposed to PREPARE students for life. Making lessons boring does NOT prepare you for anything. You won't remember it that way. And the past? I don't need to know anything about the past. How does Shakespeare exactly spark creative thinking? Because last time I checked, school kills ALL creativity and forces us to learn subjects we don't want to. We are put in a class room behind 4 walls everyday, bored to death and can you blame us? Not doing anything new. Over the past hundred years, lots has changed, but school is the same. Sit in a classroom, remember useless dates. Here's a thought, maybe...  ...just maybe....   students might get something out of English class if they learnt actual modern day English :) Wow aren't I a genius :D

And algebra lol. What abstract problems? I know for a fact I will never use it in my life. And uniforms. Just stop. Teachers disrupt our lessons to make us disciplined? So basically we surrender all free will including our education, because of what we wear. I'm done.
