Shaft - Ability to shoot through a small sheet/thickness of walls/props

Hex

Recommended Posts

Self-explanatory.

Also, these will add a whole new perspective of this turret in the game. Keep in mind that you wont be able to shoot through houses and buildings, but only through small sections of walls, pipes and other smaller props such as boxes. Note that damage decreases over the distance of penetration.

First I though that this would seem logical on Railgun, but that would completely mess up, or heck, ruin XP/BP, so let's just stick to Shaft.

Valid

If I think of the new repair kit (you need your cover) and the ability of a shaft to 1-shot-kill a Medium hull, this sounds a bit overpowered to me. Does the damage get decreased by that penetration?

What would be, if the shaft would not be able to shoot through them, but just be able to look through some props in scope mode? Like House corners (1 semi-transparent prop at the end of each house side) and through all thin walls. This would give an advantage in sniper mode, while the walls would still provide cover it you need it.

Would be a good counter to Magnum.

Hm... I don't think so.

A thick house is not penetrateable (by the original idea) and a thin wall is low enough to let the Shaft hit the barrel anyways.

That makes sense, I think about 50 % damage should go through, just like Railgun through tanks.

my rail m3+ has over 90% penetration; so less then 10% are lost per tank.

But a penetration like from a rail like it's common in your ranks makes sense

(map zone: walls, pile of crates, pipes).

Maybe this could be an alteration for Rail.. in xp/bp alterations are off.

First of all, Railgun already has 3 alts. It really dosnt need any more. But more importantly, I have shaft, and I am the most important tanker on the face of the earth, so it has to be shaft.

Yes, of course it does. The values will be left to the developers to decide.

That would be way overpowered. People will start using Shaft in clan wars and everyday battles and it would ruin the balance of turrets developers are wanting to maintain.

Good thing about the penetration. Maybe you like to edit your startpost a bit, so that this can be found there as well - it helps the forum members that tend to read only the startpost :p

You're right about the effect on clan wars.. an organised team would have a clear advantage. On the other hand, both would use it.. hmm.. And there is not much of a hiding anyways. In most wars and trainings I've played, we knew most of the time, where the enemies are. But ok.. we were high ranked.

this could be added as an alteration

Good thing I always play with alterations turned off.

I don't like this one at all... you get the chance to hide and one shot most of us now, and you want the opportunity to be able to do that while we're trying to hide under cover...

I'm not a shaft user personally (used to be, once upon a time as a baby rank), but it sounds like quite an interesting idea. Shaft's always really been a (increasingly unpopular as the ranks go up) one trick pony, this would add some new dynamics to the turret, either as an alt or as standard.

It'll also place more importance and thought into map prop/object placements in the future.

then i suggest that you play with alterations and if alterations are turned off in a battle dont join

Erm first part of your logic is broken, but I'll leave that.  That's how I play already...permanently in a pro battle with no alterations on. Only for missions will I spend any time in a regular battle and as soon as they're done.. pooof I'm outta there.

Lets see... we have thunder, ricochet, hammer (to some degree) striker, magnum, and now shaft? Walls will become useless, this cant happen.

If I get this right,

Thunder was first, no ability to shoot around a corner, just make the most of radial damage.

Rico you can bend them around corners, but due to the angle of incidence and reflection this isn't terribly easy or always possible.

Hammer is more area of effect no corner bending at all.

Striker is much like Thunder make the most of radial damage, don't get in the way of all four rockets though

Magnum is jOPZVOOk.jpgits the first thing to make all obstacles obsolete. Shoot over everything and do extraordinary amounts of damage.

Shaft doesn't need this...
