Splash damage protection module

NB: Where did the old one go?

 

How about a module that just protects you from splash damage??  Seeing as how the mechanics were aligned between all the different splash weapons it shouldn't be tooo difficult.  Not direct hit protection, just the splash.

maybe , but it'll be a huge nerf to so many turrets .

Not so sure - if it only protects from the SPLASH damage.  Direct hits = no protection at all...

 

At best you take 200 splash damage instead of 400 splash damage.  But if the Striker missile hits you = full damage.

 

Would affect Magnum the most since it has splash radius the size of a ball-park.

Would hardly affect Twins - it's radius is quite small.

 I'm mainly talking about magnum and thunder . Twins' splash is barely anything .

even though I hate magnum , I think its main power is its splash damage ( since it's too hard to hit the tank directly ) .

I use thunder and trust me , the splash damage it does is FAAAR more important than the real damage , it helps you shoot tanks from behind walls and if you're skilled enough you can deal the full damage without hitting the tank . 

all I'm saying is , this would render some turrets useless , or at least less useful .

the nerf will be well-deserved considering how OP thunder and magnum are. 

thunder is balanced , but magnum is the OP one . 

in fact , thunder is not so op and it's much weaker than other turrets like twins and firebird , it just depends on the map and the skill of the player to make the turret powerful or weak

There is already modules that offer protection versus Striker + Magnum or Thunder + Striker - it's only a matter of time before more Magnum modules are offered - Thunder+Striker+Magnum could easily be one of those.

 

So how is offering Splash versus those 3 and including the miniscule protection you'd get from twins or Rico splash make it that much worse?

 

I'd rather have a module that protects versus all damage from Thunder + Magnum + 1 other turret than this Splash-only protection.

that's correct , but thunder protection does not protect you from other turrets' splash .

having this particular protection means that it will only be 1 slot along with other protection modules , now everyone agrees with me that this is OP .

maybe we agree but have crossed lines...

 

I'm not suggesting "Splash" be one of the 3 slots in a triple module.

I'm suggesting Splash be a single module that protects only against Splash damage. At least that sounds like what the OP intended.

 

I don't think replacing full protections from 3 modules and substituting all Splash is worth it - but some might.

nope , that's quite reasonable and not overpowered by any means . if that's the idea then I'd give my support as long as it's not set along 2 other protection modules

This will make Magnum too OP, and it is already too OP. 

How would this make magnum OP?

 

With this proposed module you would get protection from Magnum Splash, but not a direct hit.

 

Any current module with Magnum protection gives you protection from splash and a direct hit.

 

Up to individual if they feel it's worth it - but not sure how the proposed module makes magnum better than it currently is when you still have choice to equip a regular module.

 Self damage modules

 

that other post about self damage modules has been "under review" for a long time so I thought I would make my own suggestion/post about the self damage modules

 

if you use the over powered unbalanced firebird Vulcan alteration, a firebird module should not protect you anymore. Instead you need to have a self damage module on to reduce that afterburn damage.

 

if you use the over powered unbalanced thunder alteration with the 1.5 reload time and are trying to get as close as possible to the enemy for max damage, that thunder module should not protect you anymore. You need a self damage module

 

magnum, striker, ricochet, hammer and twins (the rarest of the rare non stable plasma alt players) will need a self damage module also if they want to ram and spam a lot (well not so much hammer)

 

this self damage module will take up one of the three module slots, punishing the player for their garbage unintended playing style
