Overdrive timed with being killed

Recommended Posts

A few times, I've activated OD when low on health and just as I activated it, I was killed without the benefit of the feature. To be a little more specific, I'm killed even before the blue dome appears and when I respawn, I've lost the OD. Same if I try to use it on a group. I'm killed before the dome appears and no one got the advantage of the OD and I've lost it. I know this to be true, because I've checked the other players that were in the group and no one has the Overdrive supplies. So, my attempt failed.

Suggestion: If a player is killed while activating the Overdrive and the blue dome doesn't appear, the player respawns with the Overdrive still intact.

I'm not talking about lag. I'm talking about timing.

I get what you mean and I've been in situations like that before, but this has little chance of being implemented. Losing the benefit of supplies is just part of the game. You have to learn to find the best time to activate them in order to get the most benefit out of it.

At least this way it gets rid of a lot of drugging-under-fire to make things a bit fair.

I'm with you that loosing supplies while beeing killed is part of the game.

But his teammates around him did not die, and still do not have the overdrive.

If it would be activated right away, then this issue would be solved for them.

In the example I state above, the map was Highways. I was healing 2 Shaft/Mammoths that had taken damage. I had gotten hit and took most of my health. I activated OD to heal them and me. Just as I hit the OD button a Magnum rocket hit the building behind us, killing me and taking nearly the rest of the Mammoths health. When I respawned, I no longer had the OD and the Mammoths weren't healed and didn't have to OD supplies. The blue dome never appeared. The rocket hit just as I hit the button. It wasn't lag, it was the timing.

The worst part about it is...... Laaaaaag... you get killed before you hit the key, and then suddenly time warp you're dead and its gone :/  But yes, I think it just means you have to err a little more on the safe side when activating OD.

If wasn't a problem during the first two tests or celebrations with Overdrives. If what was explained in the first post happened you spawned back with 100%. IMO it made sense.

Same thing has happened to me many times. It has nothing to do with lag. It happened a couple days ago. I happened to look at my FPS and Ping.  FPS: 58-62.....Ping: 60-65. I don't think that's enough lag for me to be killed before hitting the OD button.

Today, I was driving by a teammate just as he activated OD. I was in his dome, but I didn't get the affects. I was very low on health and that didn't change. My FPS: 60-62....Ping: 60-63. (When crazy things happen, I immediately look at FPS and Ping).

What we need are many more overdrives.

1. Gold box magnet overdrive.

2. Shield dome protection overdrive giving 100% protection from enemy fire.

3. Destroy all enemies overdrive.

4. Steal 50% of enemy health overdrive.

Ahhhh that sounds ridonculous.  I could see a shield from Magnum... but the rest... unmitigated rubbish. And off topic!

This is not ridiculous. We need such overdrives.

Maybe we do or maybe we don't. But this topic is not about what type of Overdrives we need. It's about losing OD when activating it and getting killed all at the same time. And neither you nor your teammates got the advantage.

I agree with the OP. It's happened to me, too, on occasion. If no one gets the benefit of the OD, then it should still be there upon respawning.

There should really be a solution to this. This almost everytime happens to me, whenever I activate my overdrive. Sometimes happens even on half health.

Heyy this has happened to me before. But tell u what i think? I think they should make the overdrive the same as the way it was on tanki's birthday with the old repair kit. Because overdrive doesnt subtract supplies from what u already have. Plus it would be fair because everyone has acccess to it for free

His teammates did not lose anything of theirs. That a teammates did not get a OD effect is neither here nor there.

Of course it happened during testing as well.

I don't see why The Overdrive Doesn't work when we activate it at the last second, When we Activate OD we get a repair kit right? and Aren't repair kits supposed to heal us? I think this OD thing needs A fix because it should It's totally "un-logical"(in other words the repair kit should at heal us at the last second, I don't get How it doesn't work when we die).

For Hornet, Viking and Hunter, dying within seconds of activating overdrive will result in some of the charge being retained. For other overdrives it's not necessary since their activation is a one-time effect that works regardless of death.
