Bring back language servers

Recommended Posts

My suggestion is that Tanki Online brings back the servers for the different languages. It is very frustrating to enter a battle and everyone is speaking a language you don't understand, the barrier makes it difficult to make friends, and also, you don't know what these people are saying about you, they could be insulting you, or they could be saying how cool you are and want to make friends with you, but you just can't understand them. I think doing this would help all of the language communities out because they would be with people they can converse easily with.

We do not accept ideas for removing changes/updates. Developers have something else planned to easy communication in battles.

Like bringing back language servers?

No, quick-chat options where you select a phrase (e.g. "Let's attack!") and it displays in chat for everyone in the language that they use for their interface.

but that is a very stupid idea; as if we don't have enough spammers already. the chat is filled with noisy people talking rubbish most of the time, and those that do say things like "lets attack" usually have no clue what they're talking about. good enough i don't have to see everybody talking nonsence right now, just those who speak in french, english, spanish, or russian. If this were to be implemented i'd change my language interface to i dunno japanese?

It's been implemented in plenty of other games that have similar gameplay and it works just fine, so why would it be stupid here?

Which is...? Come on, we need to know what's going on.  Just like there's different countries in the world there should be different servers in Tanki. It doesn't mean foreign players can't go to foreign servers.

Name the games otherwise, your points are irrelevant. (No offence)

I don't think there's that auto translate part in most other games.

anyway, if it does get implemented there better be an option in settings to not see those auto translated quick chat stuff while still being ablt to see what others say in chat. actually i've been wanting to only be able to see what my friends and clan mates say and not what anyone else does but that's a different idea.

True, but this is about the pre-made messages system as a whole and the issue of people spamming messages and using them for no reason, which would render the system obsolete.

Overwatch and Dota 2. There's also some other small multiplayer games, though those are less relevant.

Club Penguin had it

club penguin isn't really multiplayer... well not in the same sense. you do not play against, compete or team up with anyone to earn money or to win. in club penguin we are there to make friends so we have to communicate, but here in battles we are here to kill, if communication is a liability then to hell with it.

i have never played dota and i don't even know what overwatch is tho, so you could know some things that i don't

What about Overwatch and Dota 2? Club Penguin was mentioned more as a joke ._.

I's still like to see chat possibly separated from battle servers. With English, Russian, Maybe Spanish derivitives.  You tell the client which chat server you want, and it remembers to put you there each time.  In battle chat I think will be an ongoing problem with not really good solution, have a set of battle commands pre-rendered in other languages is fine, but you still need to be able to talk to people.  Part of the Match Making process could be to put like language players together.  Obviously not the highest priority, but 3 or 4th down the list.

If you guys are just gonna copy other games then....   It doesn't benefit this game, but ok your game do what you want.

Adding a useful feature to improve communication isn't a bad thing, even if 99% other games also have it. This isn't something Tanki would do to make themselves more unique.

World of Tanks is another. You hit a key, an interface comes up. You point to the phrase you want and is seen by the other players in the language of the Country they registered under. If you have team chat activated, then only your team will see the message. If you have battle chat activated then both teams will see it.

Last time I played, they were talking about getting rid of all chat during the battle. So, the only communication you have are the phrases in the interface.

Really? Because right now I can hardly understand most of the people in battles. Not to mention this topic wouldn't even exist if the communication was really being improved. A feature that separates different players via language isn't a bad idea. Easier to communicate. Right now, explain to me how it's easier to communicate?

I didn't say that the server unification was done to make it easier to communicate. Yes, it made it more difficult, but at the same time it made it easier to find a suitable battle, since rather than being separated into 4 communities, everyone plays on the same servers now and joins the same battles.

And a future update I mentioned before will improve communication.

2 of the communities were dead anyway, but now english people have way too many servers. It all fit together before, when america was awake, russia was asleep. I would rather have 90% the number of battles across 4 servers than 100% across 10.

Yes you did. I quote: Adding a useful feature to improve communication isn't a bad thing. You weren't talking about battles. You talked about the communication. So please don't try to point at something else  -_-. If you said adding a useful feature to improve the communication, then how is that NOT done to make the communication easier. And battles? Come on, I can think of better lies. And find a suitable battle....    Ok let me get this straight. Your logic along with Tanki's: Make all servers English and put all foreign languages together, so people can communicate easier, as long as they don't use the chat, because there's a language barrier. This means finding and participating in battles especially team battles is easier, because you can't understand half of the people on your own team.

Players logic: Separate servers, put foreign languages in different servers so they can communicate easier, meaning better team work in team battles.

I think at least one of us has misunderstood something. I'll try to explain my point better:

  • Before the server unification, there were servers for each of the 4 communities. You could go into a battle on EN servers and expect players to speak English there. However, due to the lack of players from communities other than the Russian one, it was hard to find a suitable battle since there were less people to play with and thus battles took much longer to fill up.
  • Devs united RU, EN, DE and PL servers into one list. This mixed players of all languages into the same battles - bad for communication. But this also put all players on the same servers and in the same battle lists - good for gameplay, since a larger "player pool" results in battles filling up faster.
  • Devs did NOT add anything to help overcome the language barrier, YET. This simply isn't a high priority problem at the moment as they are finishing off HTML5, Matchmaking, etc., which are far more important. Once those are done, it's likely that something will be implemented to improve communication.
  • That something is likely to be a "chat wheel" kind of thing, where you select a phrase from a list of pre-determined phrases and it displays to each player in their preferred language. That way you can easily and effectively send common battle commands to other players.
