Limit repeatative use (=abuse) of pause

Maybe this was suggested before, I don't know. Anyways, before starting my topic, look at this picture, and in particular the player II.wesleytb.Ii from blue team :

7 kills, 154 deaths, and a score of 163. We all voted him when he started doing this. A spectator came, a few hours later. By then wesley had more than 200 deaths and only a few kills. He got disconnected and banned. We won easily because of him, but it was not fair.

 

He abused of the pause, constantly bragging about it in the chat and his goal was to make blue lose the battle.

 

Of course spectator came, but it was way to late.

 

So I thought about this. Why not having a procedure that would kick a player if he abuses too much of pause in a short period of time? First, there would be a warning to the player, after 2 or 3 full pause in a row in like 10 minutes. Then, if he continues, he would be kicked out of the battle.

 

Of course that does not solve the problem of mults playing poorly. But at least, that would stop some players of abusing with pause.

Despite of the other ideas around, that ask for longer/shorter/.. pause time, yours is different, as each use of pause influnces your future possibilities to use the pause.

 

I had a related idea some while ago, but it was achived in the news topic:

 

 


 

 

It should be possible to earn more pause time by active battling (=hitting targets).

  • For each 15min of active (!) gameplay, you should get +1minute pause time
    You earn like +4seconds for each minute. Activev gameplay = you hit at least 1 or 2 targets in that minute.
  • max. pause time you can stock up is 4 minutes
  • This should work for the pause time; not for disconnect for lost connections

 
examples

 


Normal players:
00:00:  battle started: 2 min pause available
15:00:  +1min gained on your pause time account; total of 3min pause available
30:00:  +1min gained on your pause time account; total of 4min pause available. Pause time account reached max.
45:00:  +0min gained on your pause time account as the max of 4 min is reached; total of 4min pause available
45:00:   --- ENTER PAUSE---
48:00:   --- RESUME BATTLE ---  (consumed 3 minutes of pause time, 1 min of pause time left in your pause time account)
63:00:   +1min gained on your pause time account; total of 2 min pause available
...
 
Mults get removed faster:
00:00 enter battle,
01:00   --- ENTER PAUSE---  got killed, was set to pause mode.
02:30   --- RESUME BATTLE---  mult owner moves mult. pause time consumed = 1m30sec. Pause time left = 30sec
03:00   --- ENTER PAUSE---  got killed, was set to pause mode. Only 30sec pause available.
          he does not get new 2 minutes !!
03:30 -> pause expired. mult removed.


 
 
 
This should work for the pause time; not for disconnect for lost connections. It would be bad of someone uses 3m30sec of his pause, and then looses his connection and has only 30sec to reconnect.

I didn't read the complex math and the long text wall blackwasp posted, but on the face of it I think that looks like an attractive idea.

Those are just examples if people have questions how it works.

 

The basic principle is simple:

You start with 2 minutes on your personal stocked pause time of 2 minutes, and by playing active your stocked pause time grows to a max of 4 minutes. By using pause your stocked pause minutes get reduced; while if you continue to play it grows again.

 

result:

if you do not score, you soon run out of pause time an get kicked from the battle in a period of inactivity

Why dont u hire 1 man and he works like devs at same room. When you combine all battles into 1 list, he should be able to view all battle WO+ ranks. Now he should be able to see all votes from every ongoing battle. Then he could work every day like 9:00 - 15:00 h at UTC +0. And hire another 1 that works from like 16:00 - 22:00 UTC +0. They could use special viewer as i mentioned to see all votes and they will be constantly watching battles with most votes. Will it be worth it?

I'm guessing one of the reasons it went by the wayside last time, is it looks like it would require significant server side processing,  increasing your overall serverload.  I'm not against the idea... just looking at it objectively.  It's probably easier to limit people to 2-3 pauses per battle.  That way it looks more like a supply to the system which is probably an easier check.  If you need more than 2-3 pauses in a battle I think something is seriously wrong, even battles that go for over an hour.

Or that they come way to late. Or the fact that sometimes players don't vote the mult, so there are not enough votes to get the notification.

Thats why i was suggesting to add vote viewer and mods can easly scroll through battles with most votes Edited by XxPAXI2xX

I like your idea but let's be realistic mate, if you really wanna mult in a battle, you'll find a workaround or loophole. If not sitting on pause, they'll find some random corner of the map and just sit there. Personally, I don't understand why you'd purposely do badly to make your team lose but if they are already that desperate to, trust me, they will.

It's almost admirable on one side. Because for Wesley's case, he did that for more than two hours! Knowing that the pause time has been reduced to 2 minutes, it must be extremely annoying to do that. What a will ... If only he would put as much willingness to play instead of ruining a battle.

Yes, i think controlling constant pause would help with the issue. You can have one 3 minutes pause and one 2 minutes pause for every 15 minute battle. Pause by garage should be 2 minutes, and if you go over that you get kicked out.

You can not simply sit somewhere, because if you stop to move around, a timer starts counting down in the background.

Currently you are removed right after 2 min have passed by, without doing anything.

It's not possible for game moderators to be here everyday at the same hour. I don't think they work for money. They're still in scholl or they have a job.

 

But we need more game moderators, that's for sure. And a way to improve the votes like you said.

I have found a flawin the Tanki pausing system, a loophole that allows mults to pause as many times as they want until either A) The game ends or B) a gold box drops (if they want to unpause)

 

I thought of an idea to combat mults, and to stop them from multing as long as they normally do.

 

My idea is that the pause feature can only be used once in a battle. Then mults can only pause for 2 minutes in a non-pro battle and play for the other 13 minutes. (non-pro)

 

In a pro battle, you may set a limit of how many pauses you can have, and there will be a symbol with the 2 pause bars or a clock with the number of pauses next to it.

 

I personally the mults, and think they are nothing but dummies who want to ruin the game and the playing experiences for the other people who are in their team. 

 

I understand that this may cause problems in Polygon CP 999 battles, but they can always set the amount of pauses like I said earlier. In parkour battles this isn't a problem as you can't really mult in parkour..
