(Titan) Hi, so if the one with the force field is activated, does the force field move when the tank moves or remains stationary? Does it dissipate after a certain amount of time or damage? If you are in the force field, does it absorb some of the damage (%) or all of it?

 

(Mammoth) For the invincibility one, if 2 tankers on opposing sides touched each other with the insta-kill overdrive on, will both survive or both kill each other? Will tankers with this overdrive get xp for kills with the overdrive, like the normal 10 xp when killing someone?

 

(Viking) For the one with increased fire rate, how will it work with the 3 turrents that don't fire projectiles, but energy streams? (Isida, Firebird, Freeze) Also, will it make the reloading time halved? Otherwise turrents like railgun with (one shot before reloading) would be pretty much unaffected by it. But if you did half it, weapons that can fire a lot before reloading like ricochet would get double the boost, see what I'm saying? Because weapon firing and reload. So manybe just reloading is halved, which would seem to be best, but isn't like what was on the v-log. But then the only weapon that this wouldn't work for is vulcan, because it doesn't reload until after it stops firing, which could be never.

 

(Hornet) For the one with damage ignoring modules, won't it make battles with GodMode_On rediculously easy? None of the chaalenge of before, some of these can just equip magnums and kill the tanker in seconds.

 

Hunter and Dictator: since both of them are opposites, whoever activates their overdrive last in a battle of these 2 hulls would win, right? It just  does't seem fair that if Dictator activated supplies and Hunter removed them half a second later, it would have a completely different effect than if Dictator had activated after Hunter, causing that Dictator has supplies, but if Hunter had waited another second, Dictator wouldn't.

 

(Wasp) Is it possible to make it so that friends aren't blinded by the blast? Because if they were, then they won;t be able to find you either to heal you or whatnot. Also, is the person who activates it blinded? If so, he could fall off a cliff or something and make it even worse than before, when he didn't activate it.

The Viking one isn’t “cool” but it is practical and IMHO much stronger than most others. It benefits almost every single projectile-firing weapon (basically not Fire, Freeze or Isida that much).

Actually I think that an Isida using Viking's Overdrive will be a balance problem, just because Isidas have the highest DPS and their energy won't be consumed (and get higher range) when the Overdrive is activated.

I think you are wrong about the Viking OD. AS other point out this OD can stack with Supplies or the Dictarot OD. Vikings thus will be able to deal more damage for awhile than any other hull. You want to combine with other hull not a swarm of Vikings.

 

I think you are dead wrong in your complacency these things will all be roughly as useful as the others. I am 99% certain the exact opposite will happen. One or two of these will prove much much more powerful than the others, and one or two will prove to be mch muc weaker than the others. I expect to see fewer types og hulls in battle as the majority of players buy the OP hull ODs.

 

This is why I posted a suggestion the "Zero Supply" / Dictator OD be kept for all 7 hulls. (A new special OD for Dictator would have to be developed.) Players could use the Zero Supply OD or they could use the specialized OD much as turret alterations are activated. That way the hulls that get the lousy ODs will at least have a proven backup to use.

 

But mostly everything at this point is speculation. The only thing we can count on is the new OD system will drastivcally alter the existing game balance. My guess is, not for the better.

 

 

I really hate the new overdrives. I use Smoky and Hornet mostly and I really dislike the Hornet's overdrive. I think everyone is going to have to start using Dictator

I think you are correct in that we will see a massive upsurge in Dictators soon after this goes live. The Zero Supply OD is useful in all circumstances and is easy to use. Others are highly contingent on having the right circumstances or else they are of little use. Wasp, Mammoth, I am looking at you.

 

Actually I think that an Isida using Viking's Overdrive will be a balance problem, just because Isidas have the highest DPS and their energy won't be consumed (and get higher range) when the Overdrive is activated.

Where do you get the longer range claim? I've not heard that. (Did I miss something?)

I believe Tani_S was referring to VLOG Episode 139, which explicitly addresses energy-gauge turrets like Isida and Freeze getting unlimited ammo and increased range with Viking's Overdrive (or Overdrive #3 in the episode).

To be honest I think that this new update will have a major impact in the way people use their hulls.  Another thing is that maybe the costs of each hull should be increased since everybody is going to want to buy any hulls they don't already have since they're going to want to try each and every overdrive.  Overall I think that this will be a great update and might prompt more players to begin playing Tanki Online, or make some who are planning on quitting continue playing.  It is a great idea and I can't wait to try the new overdrives.

With Hunter's new overdrive, I think i discovered an awesome gold-catching combo

 

On your team, u have your dictator pump u up with supplies, you use magnum and @ the drop zone, you emp your enemies than lob a projectile. supa win!

Thinking about this some more... I think Tanki should sell overdrive modules that can be equipped the same as turrets, protection modules and hulls.  I also think what overdrive a person has should be visible to everybody on the same team, but no on the other team.  Would help strategy and surprise.  This way, people could use the hull they really like the best with an overdrive they like.  Also, the overdrive could upgrade as well.  This would be a win-win.  Tank would make more, but also provide different overdrive options to people without people being ticked that hulls they love are going to have overdrives they don't like.

After the update of Overdrive. Whenever Gold Box Drops I`ll press shift All players Including my teammates will destroy too.

It will be easy for me to take golds :D Can't wait for this update :D

It seems the only constant in TO is change. 

 

If the game is broken, and the more I play the more it seems to me to be, adding to it isn't going to make it any less broken. 

 

Rugby mode has shown that only druggers win and two or three tanks on overdrive are unstoppable. Winning team gets overdrives more often so continues to win until a 10-0 washout or everyone leaves

 

Adding selective overdrives based on what hull you have is like saying you can only have certain turrets and modules on certain hulls. 

 

I really can't see it helping the balance of an out of balance game. And, I think that the whole drugs/overdrive needs a complete re-think.

 

Thank goodness for Pro battles, although I've noticed that more of them are becoming drugfests.

LOL for the wasp overdrive, I noticed they tested the explosion graphics with the landing meteorite gold boxes we had this year for Cosmonautics Day!

Actually they probably took the code they had for the Wasp OD bomb and used it for the meteor. So now you know what the Wasp OD will do just not how it is triggered.

 

I hope though TO has reconsidered this and is scrapping the entire idea for hull-specific ODs. That Wsp OD is so lame compared to the one i use now. I can use a mine to shake off pursuit - when pursued. TO acts like Wasp do nothing but lead enemy tanks around on tank parades.  

 

They can salvage some of their work by using the code for something else like the meteors.

I am disappointed by this new overdrive system and think it will lead to an unbalanced game.

 

First off, I believe Dictator will have the best overdrive.  By far.  Lets's compare it to the other medium hulls first.  

 

Viking:  faster firing rate.  OK.  But Dictator gives double power... so the DPS probably won't be that different.  Furthermore, Dictator maximizes all other supplies at the same time.  That said, the only situation I really see this being an advantage over  Dictator's overdrive is with Viking's overdrive activated with double damage supply turned on at the same time, effectively quadrupling damage output.  I could see this being very useful for snipers or those who shoot from a distance (railgun), and depend on structures hiding them, which already give better protection than double shielding anyway.  .  

 

Hunter:  Turn off the supplies of surrounding tanks.  Dictator's overdrive benefits it strongly regardless of proximity to other players as it activates all five supplies.  Hunter's ability on the other hand will only benefit if close to enemy.  This overdrive will not be very helpful to players using weapons at  some distance in an offensive manner such as Thunder or railgun.  Further, this is purely a defensive overdrive... which depends on supplies having been activated by the other team... and then being close enough to de-activate.  Lot of ifs here.  If this overdrive is activated with no supplies around to deactivate, it is useless.  Dictator on the other hand will always be beneficial to activate, regardless of when activated.

 

Viking:

Depends on the rate% increase.

Dictator gives +100% Armor & +100% Damage to itself and nearby teammates.

Consider 1 vs 1 (best case scenario for enemies) the Dictator would smoke a Viking unless the firing rate increased by 100%.

Even then the Viking would need to benefit from secondary enhancement to even things up.

And I have my doubts they give it +100% but you never know.

 

Hunter:

It sounds like Hunter will be able to affect enemies that have not yet used supplies - so it would remove any existing enhancements AND for xx seconds they won't be able to activate supplies from garage. This would be useful (even though you need to be close).

 

Outstanding question though - does it place Dictators OD on cooldown?  If not then it becomes less useful.

 

 

Recent updates have made some of the proposed ODs (somewhat) obsolete.

Every player can now see where the captured flag is - don't need Hornet OD for that.

Golds drop a lot faster now - so an even slower mammoth will depend entirely on luck - they will never be able to get at drop-zone in time.

Hornet's overdrive has been outdated by the last update that made flag positions always-visible.

Why bother with an overdrive that makes tanks holding your flag visible when there's a damn great red or blue circle on the flags now showing where they are, visible even through walls anyway.

 

Wasp's overdrive is overkill.  By the time the blast subsides, half the game will be over.

 

And what's with the cooldown on supplies?  You mean us buyers can't access the supplies we've PAID for?

Sorry, but I can see a mass exodus to Pro battles after this comes in.

Or a mass exodus to another game.

 

Keep saying it - fix the problems we already have before bringing more crap to the game.

I agree the ODs they announced are 99% likely to be so out of balance there will be little reason too play TO any more. But I think this is just another unannounced project cancellation like teh turret alteration cancellation before completion.

 

Let's face it. The reason TO has not fixed problems ongoing for a year or now now is because they do not have the programming talent to fix them.

I really hope so, but I feel with things like their continued dogged determination to bring in MM (and no longer the ability to choose maps and thus see who you're up against, select hull, turret or module) it shows they don't much like to invest time and effort into something only to abandon it.

 

It wouldn't be so bad if TO made any effort to fix the issues we've had for so long, like lag.  We still get the supplies that won't pick up, and on top of that, in the last three months I've had this ridiculous issue of the tank turning like I've got a stuck key, only for it to wait a few seconds and then go into a spin in the opposite direction. 

Annoying on its own, but it's already sent me off a cliff once. :angry:

I don't think so long, if you take a look at all the hulls in the garage now, you will see they all mention something about overdrive like Hexed wrote in this thread. Maybe in a few weeks time I hope;p
