Spectator mode

Recommended Posts

Why not make it possible for everyone to be a spectator, this can exist as an option in pro battles where you can turn it on/off. If the creator of the battle enables it, then after he creates a battle, a button "spectate" should be visible for other players who select the battle. Also creator can set up how many players can spectate, he can choose from 1 to 10 players. 10 can be maximum in big maps, in small maps maximum number would be 5, depends from the creator, like he can choose how many players will play. Also players who decide to spectate and not to play, won't be able to chat in the battle. It's because some will do it just to distract other players from the game,so chat is disabled, if they want to chat, then they need to join a battle like a player. Real spectators/mods would be still be to join like usual, this doesn't change anything between them, and talk and they will still appear with yellow tag "spectator" when they talk. Players that are in battle would know how many normal players spectate, i don't know, there could be somewhere in bottom left corner of the screen a sign how many players spectate. And of course spectators would have same options and controls like real ones, only chat is disabled for them. So what do you think? Maybe it can be useful, for making youtube vids, i don't know, something like that.

Declined

Sorry, spectator mode isn't planned to ever be made publicly available in Tanki Online for various technical and other reasons. It's already a public feature in Tanki X, however.

Enabling it for every player would bring to a disaster. In case you didn't know, with spectator you can see the life of all players and where they placed mines. This means that everyone could join a battle and tell to his friend in red team what is the blue team doing, who is defending, which side is more weak, who has low health, etc. Let's say you can't write with spectator, fine but there are other methods such as Discord, Skype calls, TeamSpeak and so on, with all these... you can still communicate with your friends and tell everything that is happening in that battle. This idea will never get accepted, never.

Feel free to read into some old proposals, if you like to know the details.

You can find even more, if you use the search function of the forum. Those results are only from the first 3 pages listing results for "spectator" from the Ideas and Suggestions section. In case you want the other 10+ topics which are either declined/archived, here I did the search for you.

Not anymore, spectator mode is available in just custom battles now in which we can't gain any XP/crystals.

Why don't we do same with TO, spectator mode will be available in just parkour battles.

Because Spectator in TO simply wasn't made to be used publicly. It would have to be completely reworked.

Dude if they removed spectator mode here is what would happen.

Famous youtubers bring more players.

Youtubers need Special stuff like getting acess to items before release so players like and sub and play tanki.

If everyone got spec mode it wouldnt be sooo special anymore.

Btw you can still use an old trick.

Just search on Youtube "spectator mode in tanki"

I dunno whatevs it is but requires a little bit of simple code.
