Everyone who is complaining about this update, it doesn't affect you if you don't buy, and if you do buy, it is only a good update. Please stop complaining about Tanki trying to make money, or you won't have a game at all.

It does, what if a poor guy with a random meaningless nickname wanted to change his nickname anytime soon, would he pay 18 USD just to change his goddamn name? That doesn't make sense at all, who said that players want this game anymore it has one of the worst communities of all time, without any expectations people here hate each other, full of underaged players which is a cringy thing to have, a wannabe girls a.k.a fake girls who keep begging for money after using a feminine nickname, gold diggers, gold diggers everywhere. Last but not least, lowlife moderators who ONLY dedicate their time to praise community manager and support the new updates to stick with their position. So yeah, nobody actually wants the game anymore people play it because they have got nothing else to do and trying to enjoy last days of tanki, I myself still play because I would love to see the developers' earn their money and then waste it on TankiX (which is trash) then they would cry over because TankiX would never gain the popularity of Tanki Online.

 

 

example: minecraft lets you do it once in month for free (yes its 30 euro game but seems legit)

Oh this game lol, well yeah but tanki would never ever give anything for free for players, like you know if they gave every player a free nickname change just for once and the player would pay next time to get a nickname change, that would be way better than current system.

We need the option to be able to do it with crystals, because most of the time we start an account without giving too much thought into the nickname.

Those ways might block your account as well. They said that once before; If you purchased in-game using another country currency your account would be blocked.

A lot of the dislike of this Rename pass is possibly because renaming of our accounts will be one of the very few things in Tanki that's not accessible to all players.

 

 

Crystals are won in battle, rank-up and missions

Supplies gained from missions and garage

Premium from missions

XT equipment from missions and paying 500k in garage if we have premium.

Kits can be bought for crystals

Gold boxes from misions

 

 

 

Special paints are a buyer feature, but not really that necessary. However, changing nickname is necessary if someone happened to put no thought into choosing their name when they first started playing Tanki. They might have had no idea that they'd end up staying on the game for months or years when they first logged in, so registered with the first name they could think of. With this buyer rename pass they're stuck with that name if they don't like the idea of blowing money on a rename pass, even if they're willing to spend on equipment and other items they still might not want to spend real cash on things like this. They might just quit altogether rather than bothering starting over with noob equipments. No good for anyone IMO.

 

Perhaps make a new one-time only “Rename pass” special mission. It could be much easier to achieve than XT special missions, but much harder than normal daily missions. The pass is then stored in garage and can be used the same way as this paid rename pass is. Once the mission is achieved and the pass is in the garage, the mission will not be available again. Ideally it would be free to redeem this pass, but maybe would be more realistic to have the fee to rename our account being based on rank(cheap for low ranks, more expensive for high-ranks)

What I see is a dwindling customer base and another gimmick to grab money to try and compensate. Pretty soon everything is going to have to be paid for with cash and in game currency will be totally worthless.

 

A quality product is a secondary concern now. Instead of fixing the game they keep trying gimmicks to get people's money. Any good business man knows that for long run profitability you need a quality product. The Dev's have forgotten that basic principle.

Have to disagree - Alterniva devoted considerable effort this year into eliminating Flash errors and are now actively moving to HTML5. They are also working on MatchMaking, Overdrives, and Holiday events. That takes money, and that money must come from somewhere.

It's a great idea, any way Tanki can make money without making the game pay-to-win is a good thing. How so many people perceive this as pay-to-win is beyond me, since when does one's nickname help their performance?

I'm almost convinced to change my mind from "This is Bad Update" to "meh".

I don't think changing it from an enormous amount of ingame money to IRL money is P2W.

I do think that most everything should be purchasable in in-game money, even Shop Items. (like goldboxes. If you don't want people to spam their profiles, just make the cost of a GB 5k‡ and have it give out 1k‡. That way it is counterproductive to waste your crystals (‡) on gold boxes, as you lose a lot.

 

I'd really rather the cost was dropped to 75k or 50k‡ for name changes, and it was limited to a one-time event.

 

I'd much rather SOMEONE who will remain unnamed ENFORCED the Game Rules § on usernames!
