Everyone knows the feeling of pressing shift just at the right moment where it does nothing for you, but still makes your overdrive go back to 0.

Mind explaining to me what exactly you mean by this? Over-drive works perfectly fine when you press it, it depends on you when and where you are using it, if you have low health and you are still under attack and you try to use it, obviously it won't do anything and you will instantly get killed but that was your choice. You can decide how effective it can be. In case you mean pressing it by mistake, well that is also up to you and you can even change the keys for it in the settings.

We had this idea before. I checked it with devs and they rejected. Yes, it sucks to use overdrive and instantly get one-shot by a Shaft or Magnum, but that's just part of the game. It's not the end of the world and you can still win the game. Just make sure to use Overdrive at the best possible time when there is little chance of someone killing you before you can use the overdrive's full potential.  :)

 

By the way, this won't be a problem with most other overdrives. For example, the bomb, shield, anti-supply, invincibility can still benefit you and your team even if you get killed after activating it. As for the faster reload, supplies and protection ignore - that's gonna have to be timed well to make the most of it.

Actually the current repair kit is better in that sense. If you were low on health and activated repair kit before the update, there was a good chance of you getting shot and killed a split second later, since the repair kit healed something like 250 per tick. But after the update you get 1000 hp the instant you use repair/overdrive, so you're less likely to get one-shot after activating it.

Perhaps but 1000 is nothing. I can slaughtered instantly by that m2smoky critical shot with DD 10/10 microupgraded.

I think this one really is about timing.  If you're pootling around in a wasp you're going to have to activate a bit earlier, because you just don't have that much health to work with. On a bigger hull this is slightly less an issue, but it is still irritating when you manage to get to shift you see it go off, all the ppl around light up like christmas and you explode.

True but its still very easy to kill someone who instantly repairs because 1000 damage really isn't too difficult to achieve.
