This should have not been made political. It's like everything Trump touches turns to trash.

He just thought it was disrespecting the anthem. Maybe it WAS too political.

 

Hmm, while I agree that Trump handles things...inappropriately; so did those whom kneeled. Imho, making a protest that goes past the original intention and then continuing it is very disrespectful. 

 

My opinion: If someone doesn't like kneeling during the anthem why do it?-There are plenty of better times too protest. You know how all players are crazy over their touchdown celebrations (costing their team excessive celebration penalties) so why can't a team stop after a score and kneel for 20 seconds-that would make a bigger impact on their cause (which is a good one) and would get more positive attention. Maybe since THE PLAYERS want to have FUN so they won't protest-but when it comes to our countries honor they don't care. Just do it at the right time-and no one will have any problems!

All he needed to say is: (to Kaepernick) "You are an athlete representing the best in American sports. There are many who wish they could walk, let alone stand. You have the ability to physically stand (let alone have the gift of athleticism), so it is not an inconvenience for you to stand and show a little respect when our National Anthem is being played. I'm sure those who are unable to walk would gladly trade places with you and not take it for granted."

No-politically you can't directly cal someone specific out (But really this is what it says between the lines).
