Players play TDM in CTF and CP battles

Why do entire teams play TDM when the battle is CTF or CP? It doesn't make sense. Surely they realize that it's the team with the most flags captured or the most cp's that wins the battle, not how many kills a team makes.

 

Good example:

 

I was just in a CP battle on Chernobyl map on red team. Our entire team was on the blue side playing TDM while the whole CP map was blue. Red team was no match head on with blue. 

 

Meanwhile, I'm running around trying to turn the blue cp's to red. But there were two blue players working together to turn them back to blue. With 6 minutes left in battle, I left. I was tired of trying to make the color changes by myself and getting killed repeatedly. The score was 15 to 35 blue's favor.

 

From the lobby, I watched the score. When the battle ended score was 39 to 62 blue's favor. When I left, a player 2 ranks higher than me took my place. 

 

I've seen the same thing in CTF. I was on blue team and red was all over us like white on rice. They could have easily made a few flags while they were spawn killing us. But they didn't. Finally, we were able to overcome red team, went over to their base, made 2 flags and stayed at the red base. No further attempts to capture flags. Red came back to our base for some more TDM, but didn't make any flags.

 

Had Red made a few flags while they were spawn killing us, they may have won. I understand building up the battle fund, but I don't understand why a whole team will lose sight of the objective.

It's easier to get score by sitting in cover and sniping enemies, than constantly throwing yourself onto flags and points and dying over and over with no result. That's most likely the logic of most players who play like that.

I don't know, @Maf. That's not what it looked like to me. In CP, our team went over there like Gangbusters. No sniping, no peek-a-boos. In fact, I was the only sniper on my team.....Dictator/Shaft. But I couldn't do any sniping because my teammates were in the way. That's why I busied myself with changing the cp's. 

 

I was using speed boosts to get to the next cp before the Wasp/Magnum and Hornet/Freeze changed my previous cp and caught up with me. I tried killing them, but I didn't have time for a full charge. I was lucky to get a half charge off. On both of them, I was only getting 200 or less damage. Freeze charged me, taking a shot then encircling me while Magnum obliterated me. I tried to shoot the Magnum first, but the effort was wasted. By that time, Freeze was in back of me and Magnum just moved out of the way. 

 

My entire red team was on blue side getting pulverized. But they kept going back for more. In the end, the highest score on red team was about 168, while the second highest was less than 100. I checked my battle standings before I left and I was towards the bottom.

Well, you do have a fairly low rank, so this could be explained by the fact that most players at your level still don't quite understand the main objective of the game and don't realise how important it is to focus on points or flags, rather than kills. Heck, even many Legends still camp and accumulate kills in CP and CTF matches...

i do that most of the time. I simply got tired of getting teamed with noobs. I remember months ago when i would fight my hardest accross the entire map to capture each point one by one, only to have only the point i just captured in the colour of my team each time i looked. I remember fighting my way all the way into enemy base and back with the flag only to see my team mates let a bunch of firebirds run all over our base and our own flag isn't even there anymore. After many many times of this same old crap i gave up on trying to win. When I'm with my clan, i try my best to win, when I'm with my friends, i try my best to have their backs and avenge their every death, when I'm alone, all i care about is getting exp so i don't end up lagging behind the rest of my clan. to hell with the crystals, even if i lose every battle i play i'd still get enough for 1 turret and hull and that's enough.
