Magnum and why it should be nerfed

Recommended Posts

They're holding back the nerf since the point this thing got introduced. What has it been like... 10 months?

I mean, you can't get a more obvious example of an overpowered turret. In the meantime, millions of crystals have gone into Magnums. There's something fishy going on... naughty naughty.

It took Vulcan almost 2 years to get nerfed. Granted, it wasn't anywhere near as broken as Magnum, but still.

2 years?

Yeah I remember it was really powerful.. the impact force stopped everything.

Vulcan is relatively easy to beat if you get behind walls and stuff; Swagnum on the other hand can hit everything.

I have a few ideas to nerf it:

· Make more modules with magnum protections (and I mean a LOT more)

· Increase reload time to 15 seconds.

· Allow all the other turrets to hit magnums barrel (if the tip is peeking over a barrier) and deal damage to it.

· Combine the three ideas stated in this post.

To be fair, Vulcan always had a place in Tanki. Unlike Twins it has even less crowd control in exchange for being able to singlehandedly hold down a chokepoint.

Magnum was designed to be a hard to master artillery piece that required a lot of skill to use, but rewarded that skill with high damage output. It failed tremendously.

How should he get M3 railgun if It's so hard to reach Marshal with his M2?

Save up. If it's taking him so long he should have enough from mission chains once he reaches it.

I hear good things about Vulcan.

Nice joke bro ;) ,

Vulcan at m2 are bad ,

I will tell you how its work

M0s

Maganum : OP

Shaft : OP

Vulcan : good

Striker good ( depend on the player new, old)

Railgun : very under powered ,freaking junk kill wasp+hornet using DD by 2 shots

Isida : good

Smokey : OP ( coz of the critical hit and its good parameters , doesn't require a lot of skills )

Thunder : good

Firebird : good

Freeze : quite OP coz of the high freezing effect

Hammer : good

M1s /

Maganum : OP

Shaft : Quite OP

Vulcan : good

Striker : good

Railgun : weak !

Isida : good

Smokey : good

Fire : very OP ( unlock in low rank and more benefits )

Freeze : weak

Hammer : not bad

M2s

Maganum : very op

Shaft : good

Vulcan : Weak

Striker : weak

Railgun : The worst gun at m2 'Very weak'

Firebird : OP !

Freeze : good

Isida : OP ( unlock in low rank at warrnet officers it has massive DMG it could kill hulls in seconds only !!)

Hammer : good

M3s

Maganum : OP

Striker : good ( but need more benefits )

Vulcan : good

Shaft : good

Railgun : good ( but it must get a buff for m0,1,2 , m3 needs a buff but its reload time at m3 are quite good , buff it please )

Firebird : good

Freeze : good ( freeze effect at m3 needs a buff )

Isida : good

Hammer : good

NOTE :

For the m3s and m4s I'm not sure its most Depend on skills coz players reach m3s and m4s are likely to be high skilled so i can't suggest the best for them . but for railgun m0,1,2 min DMG or min and max DMG really really needs a buff really !!

You forgot Smoky at M2 - it's one of most powerful

Striker - actually gets weaker as M-level goes up.  It has trouble locking onto fast tanks, and it's lock-on improvement lags behind hulls speed improvement.  Plus there's even more use of speed-boost.

He didn't even include ricochet or twins at all and forgot about thunder at m1, m2, and m3

Ha Ricco - my main turret.  Been a lot of complaints about it lately. I think it's the alteration.

Entered a pro-battle that had alts turned off - only because I did not realize that option was enabled.

Boy does Ricco suk without the alt.  :(

Maybe magnum would be less annoying if :

Its range is reduced, so it would stop them bombing the entire map and make it much more of a mid-range weapon.

The effectiveness of Double Damage with magnum is minimized to only 1.5 X the original damage.

A bending laser pointer and a marker showing where the shot will land at the price of severely reduced splash damage was added, it will also warn players of the magnum itself and where it's hiding.

A wind marker was added with the turret showing where the wind is pointing, obviously the wind will change the course of the shot making it steer mid-air therefore making it harder to control the turret.

The hull was made unable to steer while holding a shot.

If a nerf was made then maybe people wouldn't be complaining so much.

ah hem if what u said happens, I will completely abandon magnum. Range is reduced? Its hard enough as it is to shoot accurately, half of the magnums miss when I see them. When you get good you can aim better. If it brings in laser pointer whatever and wind marker, then make magnum more OP. Its damage is only thing that is good. Not the turret itself, as it requires some skill. In noise everyone complains about magnum in RED team. But what about camping smokys, shafts, thunders, strikers, rico etc. Those are just as annoying but I don't see anyone complaining about that. But eh Not my place to decide. Make decision wisely MODS.

Eeeewwww... <_<

Guess you don't do daily missions?

Only to get 1 a day done, and usually only collect the boxes. Mind you that's with my Major, you're right Aunty doesn't do any missions at all now.  The only way I find to have some semblence of a "battle" instead of explode on spawn, is to play with no supplies, no drugs, no upgrades, and no alts.

None of those other campers can drop rounds on the blue base without being in line of return fire.   Forget the laser pointer, but wind shifts could be interesting.  I'll freely admit I don't use a magnum, but I think those wonderful devs didn't think through all the possibilities before unleashing the beast on the public.

I don't see anyone seem to have difficulty using/aiming the thing, the "noobs" seem to go for full power flat trajectory and the more skilled go for the lob... it has successfully either way managed to destroy the kind of battle I enjoy though.  Free flowing..

Aunty

PS: I'd love it if you abandon Magnum, better put that laser pointer back on the table :P

All those other turrets need LOS - so they can be hit back.  Not so with Magnum - by manipulating the view controls it gets to target hidden enemies it can't really see.

Smoky can't one-shot any hull, and it doesn't have Splash damage.

Striker?  LOL - no one complains about it because it is so ineffective.  You are lucky if you see one every-other battle.

Other than that - perfect comparison  <_<

I want to add another issue I haven't seen in this thread.

When Magnum shoots, if you are UNDER the projectile you lose major points

This doesnt make any sense.

Soulutions:

They wont get rid of Magnun....so:

 - Nerf it so it actually has to hit a tank to take someone out. Splash damage is fine.

- SOLUTION: Redesign the maps so the walls have either:

1. A ceiling to protect tanks from Magun

2. Or all , not a wall, but like a see through fence so it blocks Magnum , but still we can see through it.

So you can see the Magnum, or so the Magnum can see you?

Magnum is good turret, but reload time is crap, so it makes it balanced. Besize the turret cannot be moved to the sides.

The turret is ok, people just need to buy a protection module, learn to play and move.

People who cry about magnum must be the same who cries about shaft and railgun xD dont know how to face long distance turrets.

I cry about Magnum but Shaft and Rail don't bother me, because they have reasonable mechanics. The fact that the turret can't be rotated is not a problem, half the players in this game don't turn their turret anyway. Having to buy a protection module to make a turret "ok" is a problem, don't you think?
