We dont have any exact date when we will re-open Veteran applications, nor Russians have announced the date, you will need to follow eSport announcement section to see when it happens.

Also want to point out, not just 6+ years experience in eSport is required (its 3+) but also achievements in top tournaments (as in Top 3 places)

Hello

I'd like to have your opinion on the current state of EN forum and the community in general. You did mention that you use reddit, then you must know about the game communites of other games. Doesn't tanki online's forum seem a lot different from other game communities? There isn't a lot of dev-community interaction and the most demanding questions (*cough* *cough* remove missions update *cough* *cough*) are left ignored. Also, the off-topic section, which you would expect to be the most active and full of memes, but it is largely missing those and all old users, "spammers" the people known for their humor are leaving. Tanki Online does still have a decent playerbase, comparable to that of Rocket League, and its community just isn't that active. Yes, Tanki Online's community has a large amount of immature young players but that does not mean an inactive forum. But, the truth is, the forum is degrading, that is the truth.

My questions are:

  1. Do you recognize this issue and what are your thoughts on it?
  2. Will you be doing anything to change this?

A rant wouldn't be complete without a possible solution eh? Look at memes for example, every game community loves memes, but you can't find any topic to post memes other than "Photo of the day" which is full of damn cringey, normie memes or cat pictures. Having a seperate meme topic would be decent.

Also, closing of trash topics should happen, I don't see how a topic named "How much hours you sleep today?" belongs on the forum.

Hi and thanks for writing.

Here's my two cents:

1. Since you know a term normie, you probably also understand how large the forum community actually is, compared to other channels for the game. I grew up on forums, spent most of my school and even college years ranking up post counts on local game, bootleg console and anime forums. I know how good it makes you feel, and the sense of importance that comes out of your status and recognition on the Forum. The hard, and the most brutal, truth of modern community management is that forums matter much less than they used to. It's all about social media. Here, we are a small group of players and administrators, talking to ourselves and our discussion is contained, repeated, stable. What matters in terms of plain numbers, community outreach and cursed SMM numbers are how many friends did you tell about the game, who are the people seeing your likes, shares, retweets and so on. It saddens me in a lot of ways to understand the cold reality, but that is the reality we live and work with.

2. I actually think we're doing pretty good on the Forum front, and plan to help the forum community become more prominent in feedback that goes back to the devs. We have several regions, one small dev team and a CM for each localization, which means there is no reasonable expectation for game designers or a project manager to come and talk to the community as often as I do, because that's not their job. What I hope we will do more often, and introduce on a regular basis, is to answer most common questions, especially during big releases like Black Friday and Assault mode, straight from the devs and translated and posted with the help of community managers. At the time of the crisis all who you want to hear the answers from are wiping away the sweat and bringing the game back online, and it's the job of a community manager, like me, to still manage to get official statements and explanations out of them. More developer interaction would certainly help and I will push for it.

P.S. At the end of it, when resources are limited, every company, team and person has to make calls where to spend them. Me being on the Forum and trying to talk more often is not required by the job in the same capacity as managing social or in-game chats. It my choice, because I still believe that your core, most dedicated and loyal fans are the reason the game thrives or fades.

They are happening in 2018, and right now undergo a big update. More info to come after New Years.

Overdrive has created too many one sided battles. Any chance of fixing this problem or will you make it worse?

If we play together, there is a very high chance ;)

I managed to "catch" "in a rare opportunity" on a Silence CP. He's actually a drugger.

Now that's just not true!  :o

Nitro is a lifestyle

We will see how the new overdrives impact current balance, and, hopefully, improve it in 2018.

That indeed was an excellent response. I do not, however agree with about the condition of the forum. The game does indeed have a large forum, albeit the forum doesn't quite match up with the number of players playing in-game which is much larger. I do think this is because of the young playerbase Tanki unfortunately has, and the little knowledge that players have about the forum. I myself started using the forum actively after 2 years of playing the game.

I didn't expect an honest response from you considering our previous 2 CMs have been quite dodgy in terms of questions. You've been doing a great job so far as a CM.

Cheers.

Another factor to keep in mind is that the total player base is divided into several communities, of which the Russian is the biggest one.

However, since there are always ways to improve the forum, your suggestions are welcome. If you have a great idea for an interesting topic, please don't hesitate to post it.

can open Tanki Newspaper to Isreil  ??

New languages for the paper are only issued if there is enough player demand. For the time being the current languages are sufficient.

Just curious, but do people in Spain/Portugal play on the BR Tanki and face awful ping (assuming there are no servers for it in Spain?), or do they play on the normal Tanki servers?

it is actually less laggy to play there than here. my friends in spain all say so and I'm in france and it's the same for me.

The only reasons some of them play here is that they already started their accounts over here or there are far fewer hackers over here. over there brazilian hackers outnumber all the hackers here 10 to 1.
