Idea for change to friendly fire (prevent sabotage)

Recommended Posts

Friendly fire ALWAYS, and I do mean ALWAYS has some immature person sabotaging team in this mode.

I suggest that in order to preserve the spirit of this mode but prevent sabotage, change it so that friendly fire hurts the person who made the shot.

Declined

..as too little information.

When I read "friendly fire hurts the person who made the shot" I thought that you talk about the shooter should be receiving damage.

But.. I think this will not stop a saboteur. So it will not work - therefore declined.

If you can come up with some idea that truely "hurts" the player, while not overdoing it (some just make mistakes.. so maybe it could start low and intensify over time - or something like that) the status might change.

I've been in a few. It stinks!!! especially in CTF. A player fights very hard to grab the flag just to have a team mate shoot him and grab the flag for part of the glory...dirty glory, IMHO. I've also seen TDM turn into DM. At least you can't use friendly fire with missions anymore. I see absolutely no purpose for friendly fire. It certainly encourages sabotage and sabotage is against the rules.

I think it should be removed completely, but that's not your suggestion. You don't want it removed, but rather some type of penalty for damaging a team mate. It's true, sometimes friendly fire happens accidently. It may even happen without you being cognizant of it. But a saboteur working for the other team doesn't care about penalties. The only solution I can come up with is if a player kills his own teammate, that player is removed from the battle. But then, that's what the voting system is for, supposedly. On the other hand, if a player is using Magnum on the other team and a teammate is killed, then the Magnum player would be bounced from the game for no reason.

I don't know. Everything I can think of also has unfair penalties for the innocent player.

I assume for that reasons FF is a pro option. Players that do not like it, have no reason to join such battles.. and the ones that like it, can join them. Most FF battles I saw have been sandbox XP/BP - maybe because there are almost no mults in that gamemode + map.

I think people that end up in a FF battle do so by accident - at least that's the case for me.  Don't notice the setting as you jump into the battle quickly before someone grabs the spot.

Still don't understand the significance with XP/BP, but as you mention, we don't have to join them.

I think most people do not play XP/BP because it's easy.. but because it's kind of a challange and is - if that words can apply to a computer game - an elegant form of competition (like.. fencing in some way).

FF makes it even harder.

I rarely see FF in other formats.. and so I would step into them in the same way like you: I do not check this specific battle setting :p

Friendly Fire is really important in eSport battles where you may wanna kill your teammates with low health or those who are flipped as its way more efficient than self destructing at times. So I don't think they way it works currently should be changed.
