Tuning for alterations

Recommended Posts

There are some games in which you purchase something, but can alter the stats. For instance, "Elite" cars in the game: "Asphalt 8: Airborne" have this feature. For a price, you can increase/decrease stats slightly. If you increase one, another decreases.

So, if we take the High Caliber Ammo alteration for Railgun as an example, there are three stats it changes;

Minimum damage +40%

Maximum damage +40%

Reload time + 50%

Say I don't like how much longer it takes to reload, I could decrease the Maximum damage by...10% and take that away from the reload time, to make it 40%, instead. Or, I could take 20% off Maximum damage and put it onto the minimum damage, making the minimum damage increase be 60%.

In Asphalt 8: Airborne, it's a costly tuning price and there's a delay for the changes to complete, so that could be implemented as well.

Personally, if this were to be implemented, I would remove the 40% maximum damage increase, put 30% into Minimum damage, then 10% into reload to make it only 40% instead of 50%. This would give an 80% minimum damage increase, and the maximum the same, thus heavily narrowing the damage values Railgun can output, to give more consistent shots, while also removing weak shots entirely.

Kind of like the Shell Stabilization alt, but better.

Declined

This would be a feature that's complicated to develop, but would be used by very few players. Not many are interested in playing around with numbers and making minor adjustments to their parameters. Hazel once said that if players were given the opportunity to make their own stats, 99% of the values they come up with would result in terrible, unplayable combinations. That's why it's the game designer's job to come up with the values, while players just buy the turrets and alterations.

One of my old ideas was pretty much like this, except I would scrap the alterations altogether in favor of a tuning screen.

Hazel may be right in that the players wouldn't be able to match stats effectively, but don't you think that there are at least some players who can, and it would be those players, and mainly those players, that would use it?

On the other hand, I agree with "too complicated to develop".  Nothing to say after that.

You could always bring back the customized stats option. Just tack it onto the side with standard MUs. I personally used to use this system, loved it too. I'd fine tune my Railgun to deal more damage with a shorter reload and left all the other stats untouched. Made it pretty powerful, almost oneshot-M0-lights powerful.

Sliced what's your username in asphalt 8?

But I don't play it anymore. I can't handle anything above B class and D class cars need to be upgraded to be competitive and I don't like to spend much money on my games. I bought Tokens to get a Mazda RX-8 (The King of D-class) but it's horrible standard.

Hmm..

Lol- this is a bit off-topic but I own a Henessey Venom GT, a SSC Tuatara, a Pagani Huayra, a Pagani Zonda, a GTA Spano, and a MAXED Lamborghini sesto elemento without buying.  It's a nice way to keep the little kids occupied when we have family reunions at my house, because they can all race each other at the same time.  ;)

Back on topic:

I didn't quite quit anything.  I took a long break to work on my novels and I might not be coming back to the game ever again, due to the fact that I've simply found so much better ways to spend my time.

Same applies to the forum.  I'll check around but it's clear that Tanki is not going in the right direction.

Maybe in a year or two I'll be able to return and figure stuff out, set up clans, and etc.

I still remember the last time you and I fought in battle - on a Berlin bridge over the train tracks.

If only I could have gotten that fifth and final shot off...

What about removing protection Modules?

If i would recall , 3 years back there was nothing like this. The paints had specific protections againts such and such turrets. It was really cool since the prices of Kits did not go up by alot like they have now since for example ; Firebolt kit costs around 180k. Fire m2 costs 94k while the protection costs 100k?!

Doesnt really make sense as this is just a rubbish update that happened whenever and whatever , the protections are too complicated to remember names off and have too many different variations. For example some paints had XP/BP protections so xp/bp players only use to spend crystals on that (not wasting on other turret protections)
