Either Remove Friendly Fire or Rewrite the Rules

Recommended Posts

eSports. It unlocks a lot more things to think about, tactics-wise.

For example, I can ask my teammate to kill me if I’m low on HP while defending the flag. Also, it means players can also accidentally damage or kill allies, which means you have to be accurate and think more about the consequences of firing randomly.

eSports is more closely monitored. I'm not a clan member, so I don't know how closely those battles are monitored. These two are different from Pro and standard battles, they are not monitored and Friendly Fire more easily abused.

I haven't played in any Pro battles, yet and didn't know about Friendly Fire. Sounds horrible. @Widow-Maker is right. I looked it up in the rules. Sabotage is not allowed, yet Tanki endorses it under the usage name of Friendly Fire. Players can get banned for sabotage, except if that player is playing a pro battle and Friendly Fire is activated, then sabotage is allowed? Doesn't make sense.

I've played battles with friendly fire. On one battle, for some reason my team teamed up on me. I was being spawn killed by my own team. I asked why and never got an answer. Maybe I should have left, but didn't. I wasn't going to give them the satisfaction.

Another FF battle, every time I grabbed the flag, I was killed by my own teammates.

A different CTF battle. We were winning and red was leaving. Three of us were gathered around the enemy's flag base waiting for it to be returned and all three of us had taken some damage. Our Firebird came in and killed all three of us. While we were respawning, the flag had been returned. The Firebird capped the flag.

Nope, there is no need for FF. They can take it away with my blessing.

It's possible to enter a battle with Friendly Fire activated, especially if you are trying to take the last opening. In TDM I was trying to kill an enemy tank. My teammate killed me and then finished off the tank I started on. He did that to several other players. There was no sense in reporting him since he was doing nothing wrong. I know kill stealing isn't against the rules, but the way he went about it was sabotage, in my book.

Reading the rules of "Sabotage"friendly fire actually breaks 2 rules..."damaging/destroying an ally's tank" and "fighting in the interest of the opponent's team (conspiracy)."

Let's take the first one: "damaging/destroying an ally's tank." How can this be accomplished without friendly fire being activated? Pushing a teammate off the map and purposefully pushing a teammate with low health out into enemy fire. But with friendly fire activated, one can easily damage/destroy an ally's tank and it wouldn't be against the rules of the game.

"Fighting in the interest of the opponent's team (conspiracy)": Without friendly fire, there's a few ways this can be accomplished depending on the battle mode. Every one of them is a reportable offence. However, with friendly fire activated, it's no longer a reportable offense (providing you don't make it so obvious).

For instance, say you're playing TDM with friendly fire activated. One good hit against a teammate can reduce their health to 50% or more. If the teammate doesn't use a RK, that teammate is an easy kill for the opposing team. Do it often enough and that action can increase the opposing team's kill score. In a heated battle, who's to say you're doing it on purpose? So, if you were working with the opposing team, reducing your teammate's hp to make him/her an easy kill would be conspiracy.

Another act of conspiracy that can be done with friendly fire activated, but cannot be done if friendly fire isn't activated, is in CTF. A teammate grabs the enemy flag. With friendly fire activated, you can kill your teammate flag bearer and just leave the flag to be recovered by the opposing team. When you have the flag, your main concern is getting back to base in one piece. If you're being fired upon, the natural assumption is that the damage is coming from enemy fire.

I personally think that friendly fire is causing some kind of sabotage, and it is also unnecessary because it does not get you any funding when destroying your team mates. Please remove friendly fire.

Another act of sabotage:

You have an Isida on your team. Most players are more than happy to have one, except the saboteur. The saboteur will kill an Isida to make sure teammates are at a disadvantage. It's the same tactic used on the opposing team, except, in this case, it's the saboteur working for the other team using this tactic.

Friendly Fire has no place in this game. It encourages rule breaking.
