The maps were not originally designed with indirect fire in mind - Magnum can really exploit certain maps >>> other turrets.

Which is why many people find it annoying.

 

There needs to be another 'counter' to magnum besides buying another magnum.

whatever I can kill magnum 7/10 times

Not surprising to see Twins picking up some votes. Having no ammo limit and no reload is pretty obnoxious when it’s on the enemy.

 

A bit surprising is that Rico is getting some votes. While it’s good in no-supply battles, it”s pretty meh in drug wars. Check my Rico hours - I know what I’m talking about.

 

Waaaay surprising is that Isida isn’t running Magnum a close second. With all the Isida OP threads I’ve read (and agree with BTW), I would have expected much higher numbers for our friendly neighborhood vampire.

 

Maybe an earlier poster was right about this poll obscuring other data behind the obvious Magnum hate.

We wish it were that easy. Sadly it's not - particularly on a map like Silence. The other Magnum could be wearing heavy magnum protection rendering your damage minimal. They could be constantly on OD, which an organised/tactful team can manage easily, and surrounded by mines, There could be a faithful Isida nearby, effortlessly eradicating whatever damage you had inflicted. And of course, they'll no doubt have buddies (Rico, Thunder, Smoky, Striker, Rail, Twins, Hammer, another Magnum) in your side of the field, hitting you and putting you off your aim. Probably safe to say that in any of those circumstances your attempts to kill them will be utterly fruitless.

I think this poll is about annoying turret in all maps not just silence. Magnum can be deadly in silence /noise etc but not in all maps. And remember magnum can cause more damage to it self then enemy in close combat.

It's annoying/deadly on any map where it can hide behind defenses and not expose itself to return fire.  Lots of maps allow this.

the only problem with magnum is it has high damage and very few protection module. Once they add more module problem shall be solved.

1) One of the problems?  Yes.  Certainly not the only problem.

 

2 ) Not as simple as you make it sound.  I have 2 Protection modules with Magnum - it's still a silly turret because in many cases I can't strike back.

Why everyone vote magnum? SHAFT IS ONLY FOR NOOB CAMPERS, so that makes shaft the most annoying turret in TO.

i agree that shaft is for noobs. but being a turret that noobs can easily get good k/d and score isn't the same as annoying

I was in a battle in the map noise on the blue team. When i came on the middle i saw 7 out of 8 magnums just shooting us and they didn’t even got damage. Magnums is soo annoying because that turret ruined some maps as an example noise.

I agree. In Noise CTFs which are considerably common, the blue team (bottom) doesn't stand a chance if there are a couple of magnums on the red team who know what they are doing, unless the blue team is highly overpowered and have multiple isidas. Even then they may not win, the odds of the red team winning is just too high.

Since the Halloween sales, everyone and his dog has got Twins M2 and that's hard to beat as it's just a relentless onslaught.

 

Magnums I can cope with.  Rush them from the side, they can't turn and from the back they're easy pickings for an Isida.

I have played on noise and it's not really a problem. They are shelling us blindly and don't even notice me sneaking up behind them with my isida. I go from bottom of map up and up and around the back of edge where they shelling the lower spawn area

I love my isida. It kills them so fast
